I'me 78 and I 've loved to sew since I was 16. I sewed piece work for the garment industry. It was a wonderful time being able to work out of my home and be home with my children. I'm familiar with various sewing machines, pressure feet and tricks. I have to tell you, I am very impressed and often get inspired from your channel especially when it comes to using threads and scraps of leftover fabric. Besides, who wouldn't want to learn to use free motion quilting in such a fun and creative little project? I don’t have a fancy machine like that. I have the same Singer that I bought in 1984, but I can still get creative by adding some embroidery to the scrap base. Such a cool project! 👏👏❤️
No fancy machine is needed! As long as you can drop or cover your feed dogs you can do free motion. You just need a free motion or hopping foot. You can get a universal low shank hopping foot on a Amazon for less than $5.00.

This is such a great idea! I haven't heard of the water soluble embroidery material that you used. This would be a great way to recycle fabric scraps into new fabric for multiple projects. It seems so wasteful to throw the scraps out all the time. Thanks for the video!

Water soluble stabilizer is the best invention! Also makes great lace!

I've just woven a wall hanging. Over 12 hours it took me. I love love love this. Definitely going to try this but handstich a tree. No way will I be able to be so precise with my machine. 🤣

How unique & creative you are!
At first I thought you were making a cushion, then I thought "oh, it's a pretty placemat", then you put the whole thing in water and blew my mind! This is really cool. I'm self taught, and I've only made a few pieces of clothing and lots of small accessories. I think this would be great to try. Do you need a special sewing machine to embroider like that?
Looks like a domestic sewing machine and an embroidery foot to me. :) You need to be able to put the transport teeth down. Some machines can’t do that but there might be special plates to get for the machine to cover the teeth.
I hope this helps, my english kinda left me with this 😅 I’m not a native speaker.
