Yeah, Berlin...... I find the dress at 12:04 made of green belts very inspiring, I can do something like this with the many belts I have (saved over the years). I once made a dress of leather straps cut from leather trousers that I found in the trash. I used these straps and rivets, nothing else.

There are very many things I do not know about fashion and the industry so I apologize if this question seems ignorant! But there is a part in the video (and this I have seen with other brands and houses) where the brand talks about upcycling materials like that stained white leather which was thrown out by a manufacturer and which they used in their show. To my knowledge, brands generally are supposed to make more than one of their design in order for many people to purchase and wear it, so what happens when these materials (chosen for sustainability) run out and they cannot make more of the same thing? Is there simply a limited number of these pieces and they stop making once their chosen material runs out or is there another alternative? Since I generally am only aware of how mass-production works in fast fashion, I am curious how smaller brands or at the very least, more mindful brands are able to keep on producing when their sources are limited because they make more reasoned choices. I have asked this quesiton in my head before when I learned about how Margiela would thrift clothes and then remake them into something they could show on the runway, like did that mean they thrifted multiple of the same thing so they could sell it or was there only one of that thing which they remade? I am truly so perplexed TT if someone could please shed some light on this, it would be very much appreciated

That was some crazy stunt they pulled off with fake Adidas show. I like joerg Ehrlich best, due to the proportion and beauty. I do like the idea of unsexy sexiness however. Someone should do a show about being totally distracted and not really noticing what anyone is wearing it all.
U bought that adidas fake? I’m stunned… i don’t know what to say. I was there. It was obvious from the get go that it wasn’t adidas related. It was good though, but u could feel it was a stunt
I think a big part of what sold it is that we had just gotten off the plane. The German Fashion Council was leading us around and we had barely put our stuff in the hotel. We were jet lagged and hadn’t reviewed the schedule. ➖ All that to say I wasn’t my sharpest at the time 😅😭
There's this thing that I've noticed bad artist (I see fashion shows/runaways as art) like to do, and it's putting too much what I like to call "faux symbolism" or "fabricated symbolism". They present/describe their art, accreting these completely made-up meanings like 00:56 - How the hell are those clothes in any way symbolize that??? I'm not trying to be rude... But this doesn't help neither the Ukrainian cause, neither the show. For me, all of this is empty and looks like an amateur cook that thinks that the more ingredients he puts, the better the dish would be (I'm not critiquing the clothes, but the show). [edit] To add up. I think, Demna's show, where the models were exposed to cold and the recent one in the mud, symbolize the Ukrainian struggle to the point
100% agree with you.. this fashion show straight up looks like those hipster liberals pretending to care with their aRt 💀 Again just my opinion before anyone gets riled up..
I was thinking the same thing. I'm Slavic and very close to the conflict but couldn't see any connection except the 'bag' part (=refugees) but bags can represent 'shopping' or 'consumerism' or 'going on vacation'...
I think the fact that there are many bags and hoods on the clothes kinda symbolize the idea of the people running away. The bags on the clothes refer to the fact that many women had to pack everything they need in a couple of bags. And the hoods maybe symbolize that they had to protect themselves from danger when running away? I think she also kinda said it in the video. Not in that many words but yeah. Also, English is not her first language and time for interviews is sometimes limited so she probably could explain it better and more in detail why these clothes reference that subject in her own language. But that's only an assumption of course.
for me personally, the symbolism of clothes-to-bags lies in the feelings a refugee feels when packing to run away - no matter how big your bag, how many pockets (like in that one dress), you still leave 95% of yourself behind - your house, your friends or loved ones, your city, your language (since a lot of displaced people have to move abroad), sometimes you have to give up not just your job or school/college, but also your field of work, or you lose your business if you had one, as well as any other posessions. There is no amount of clothes or things you can take that will stop you from feeling like you're losing your whole life. Also since a lot of people fled in a hurry, they had barely anything on themselves, maybe even not enough to keep them warm in the cold months. The black hand prints on womens faces and necks might be in reference to physical violence done to women at the hands of russian army forces as well as men abroad who abused the fragile situation of the refugee women. I haven't watched the full interview, so there might be a somewhat different or bigger explanation there. It's hard for me to judge how well the message translates to people who are far from the refugee experience, so I understand how you might not see any deep meaning in the clothes without a few more words of explanation from the author.
I think it's often worth questioning if art is bad just because it doesn't resonate with you, personally. The symbolism wasn't deep, but it wasn't a reach, and it seems like they're putting their money where their mouth is and donating 30% of the profits. It's also not as though they're emptily raising awareness of some struggle they're largely unaffected by; they're a Ukrainian brand, saying that some other brand does a better job of 'symbolizing the Ukrainian struggle' and they're not helping the 'cause' comes across as kind of disingenuous and more than a little tone deaf. That said, there's a difference between things being badly/over-designed and being maximalist, and their clothes seem to strike a good balance by keeping on theme in design details and/or having those details be transformative. Definitely not for everyone but there's an excess there that's quite distinct.
Whiile you were calling the adidas stuff out of touch and offensive i was gonna say the presentation was appropriate since it managed the evoke strong feelings of disgust in u the viewer nd then u reveal it was fake i was like ahhh makes sense lool

Yo that adidas thing was crazy
that yellow heels from the Adidas reality wear are kinda hot. I know this defeats the presentation...but I kinda dig it!
Adidas must be fuming right now, which is great :)

Brave drinking red wine in an all white show.

🙌🔥🙌
I like joerg Ehrlich best, due to the proportion and beauty. I do like the idea of unsexy sexiness however. Someone should do a show about being totally distracted and not really noticing what anyone is wearing it all.
17:34 good how you criticized this, big companies arent to be trusted ever
Haha good to know it was fake, but like u said its so believable they would do that
33……very good skin care
It's giving Zoolander lol
😂😂😂😂😂😂
U bought that adidas fake? I’m stunned… i don’t know what to say. I was there. It was obvious from the get go that it wasn’t adidas related. It was good though, but u could feel it was a stunt
I think a big part of what sold it is that we had just gotten off the plane. The German Fashion Council was leading us around and we had barely put our stuff in the hotel. We were jet lagged and hadn’t reviewed the schedule.

All that to say I wasn’t my sharpest at the time 😅😭
There's this thing that I've noticed bad artist (I see fashion shows/runaways as art) like to do, and it's putting too much what I like to call "faux symbolism" or "fabricated symbolism".
[edit]
To add up.
Ain’t no way he’s 33 lmao
Not too much people in this fashion show
Whiile you were calling the adidas stuff out of touch and offensive i was gonna say the presentation was appropriate since it managed the evoke strong feelings of disgust in u the viewer nd then u reveal it was fake i was like ahhh makes sense lool
