I actually pulled my Agatha soul cauldron in draft packs at my local target of all things. with this set i wanted to go all out, well as much as I could, so I bought a full set booster box. After opening all packs I got no witches, no Will, no Rowen. I was kinda sad but OK once I found out those cards were pretty cheap as singles, so I bought those. A few more cards and I'll have the whole set, fingers crossed. oh BTW in case anyone was wondering, The Meal Ender Syr, Ginger turned out to my my personal favorite card.
In other words: adult person finally finds out in 2023 that buying single is better than gambling for packs. Tomorrow they may discover that water is wet.

Man, I actually got what I payed for in my three boxes. But that was before they hit normal retailers. I'm sure the singles cost about what I payed for the boxes in whole.
Is there a reason the cost threshold to be counted is $2? If there’s 12 cards per pack and 30 packs in a $120 box, doesn’t each card cost $0.30? Is it just harder/not worth it to sell cards in that 0.30-1.99 range? With those included the first box definitely breaks even at least and most packs in the second box reach that $4 threshold
Where is my favorite planeswalker, Grist? I thought she was sent to Eldraine? Disappointed. First they off my slimy boi and now rhey forget my buggy girl doesn't exist...

Is this the set with the knight thats killing the jelly doughnut with a spear? I pulled it from a pack and can't remember the set it's just so funny I've been dying to get more
So it's mythic or bust. But not only that, you have to get multiple of the highest value mythics to pay for the box. That's pretty rough. Hard pass. Buying singles
I would challenge you to buy some older booster boxes and compare the opened value several years after its released to show something other than the short term gain.
Opening packs is a gamble. Usually you lose, but sometimes you win. My pre-release kit had *5* mythics (counting the mythic promo card), including a foil Land Tax, and a Smothering Tithe. Pretty sure my pre-release kit had almost as much value as his 2nd box.
Commander Masters is the shining definition of why you should buy singles. The sealed product was crazy overpriced before/during set launch and has dropped significantly. Singles (many of which were overpriced due to infrequent reprinting or high demand singles) have almost all dropped in cost (with the exception being the Lotus, but I'm fine seeing that card less anyway).
Death Gate Cycle is closer to being in order on the shelf. It looks like Hand of Chaos is out of order. Edit: it actually looks like Seventh Gate, Into the Labyrinth, and Hand of Chaos are on the shelf in reverse order. SO CLOSE!
I bought one box and pulled the anime art Rhystic Study, needless to say it pumped me up and fed my gambling addiction. Can’t wait to drop another $120 to gamble on that Smothering Tithe and/or Doubling Season.
The Enchanting Tales reprints are a slam dunk in my book. I’ve never seen Prismatic Omen so affordable. Definitely a great reason to buy singles, but it is really enjoyable to see which enchantments you get, like the strixhaven packs.
On one hand, I find it a bit concerning for the collectibility aspect that a set full of alternate art reprints of cards highly played in multiple formats didn't "win" the booster box game - I'd have expected a majority of the enchanted tales to go for a premium but few do. On the other hand, I'm so excited that all these awesome cards are affordable to play with!!
I'd love to win a box of magic cards on one of your giveaways. I'm just now getting back into it after 4 years and I'm happy to see the price of playing has dropped tremendously with all of these reprints. Keep up with the great content Prof.
It's nice that reprints of old cards are bringing the price down on a lot of things that seem needlessly expensive, but at the same time it's oddly disappointing that practically none of the value in these boxes is coming from the new set cards.
WOTC could slow down on the products. Wilds of Eldraine however was my favorite set of the year. The fairytale theme just hits close to those childhood memories
i was lucky enough to pull a regular doubling season, an anime foil doubling season, and an anime rhystic on my first box! the second box, not so lucky... lol
I wonder if Hasbro realizes they aren't putting reprint equity into their newer sets. They aren't going to be able to entice regular customers 10 years down the road to keep buying new sets.

Never change, Brian.
My LGS doesn't buy foils sadly so I can't make money back easily off of some of these
The Enchanting Tales reprints are a slam dunk in my book.
Dang, I got called out cause the prof is roasting me on not knowing about editing xD
I'd love to win a box of magic cards on one of your giveaways. I'm just now getting back into it after 4 years and I'm happy to see the price of playing has dropped tremendously with all of these reprints. Keep up with the great content Prof.
Lol cant tell if the prof's buyers copium is parody or he really has a problem xD
It feels like it's been a while since we've seen you excited for a Booster Box game.
It's nice that reprints of old cards are bringing the price down on a lot of things that seem needlessly expensive, but at the same time it's oddly disappointing that practically none of the value in these boxes is coming from the new set cards.
No way that Command Tower was worth 14 dollars one month ago... it's only 2 now
WOTC could slow down on the products. Wilds of Eldraine however was my favorite set of the year. The fairytale theme just hits close to those childhood memories
How about a ser booster box vs collector booster box. Which is worth it type thing?
i was lucky enough to pull a regular doubling season, an anime foil doubling season, and an anime rhystic on my first box! the second box, not so lucky... lol
I wonder if Hasbro realizes they aren't putting reprint equity into their newer sets. They aren't going to be able to entice regular customers 10 years down the road to keep buying new sets.
