ARR became punjabi when he composed "Rang de basanthi" title song. Those dhol beats with visual gave right impact. Another example is "Mard Maratha " from Sachin A Billion Dreams - The marthi beat elevated the song to the Everest. Something always a question mark is how a music director can imagine the situation and has to incorporate those beats which require lot of nativity , creativity , expression with instruments etc.. and selecting a best vocalist for the song. Why I rave so much about ARR and be his evergreen fan is because of this album too! On one level he composes heavy musicals like Taal, Rangeela and with films like RDB, Delhi6, Guru he totally goes off on the opposite tangent and still delivers way more remarkable and meaningful soundtracks despite not sounding anything like main stream Bollywood film music. He made everyone hum these songs inspite of their inspired unconventionalism. I think it's after this album as he explained he changed the way he sounded even with certain repeat Bgm sounds. I now remember that it's around this time that he completely changed the way he sounded since his debut as there's always one particular haunting bgm track that's seen in most of his songs till then. Though I very much loved that just one thing (that haunting Bgm) so much but as he explained the reasons we can't help but invite the transforming new sounds in his music which are more rustic and real, in tune with the changing tastes of the audiences and the way the films made are evolving to be more real. In a way, he's also responsible for removing that filmy feel to his own music and inspired others too which was very much a part of music and movies till then. But overall, this sound track is one of the most challenging and complicated (given its sounding and the sheer variety of songs in the album Plus it has to combine freedom fighters patriotism with youth frustration till that point and still should be hummable like Humma Humma type songs). I thought such a highly challenging album should take years but ARR just took 2 weeks to finish all the songs is the icing on the cake 🎂 thing here. Dear Sir... Thanks a lot for sharing your thoughts. Since Rakeysh ji was working on this film for almost 10 years, and he constantly kept discussing its music with Mr. Rahman. Perhaps it was during those discussions that Nusrat Saheb's name came up. Thus we didn't feel like editing it out. I have a strong feeling the composer that made ARR to changed his style is Harris Jayaraj 😂😂😂. He was following ARR style if music too much during the early 2000s that people started thinking it was ARR that did the music for the movies Harris scored. And yes, it was pretty obvious that RDB album that changed the 90s music style ARR had till Mangal Pandey.
Yes, you are spot on. Totally agree with you. Even I felt Rahman has changed his a unique Bgm sound in the background because of Haris and partly Mani Sharma in Telugu songs too used his type of Bgms that we used to really wonder had they done or was it ARR! Please read my original comment here as I mentioned in detail about that. Thanks!
@@anantha1201 read it brother. Well written. Yes, I had the same feeling too and now when ARR openly said he did change because of other composers trying to sound like him so we can confirm this.
@@hareneishnadhar Thanks brother. Ya, he said this in another interview also but both the composers had actually worked with him when they are upcoming. So obviously, they will have that ARR impact on them. But as we all know, ARR is someone who always looks for original inspirations and keeps moving away from his own impact time to time. And that's why he couldn't bore us really till date!
Dear Mr. Nadhar. Thank you very much for watching and marking your thoughts here. We are delighted to read your comments. We would look forward to your thoughts in future too. Hope you have subscribed to the channel. Please share it with your friends and groups. Regards
@@anantha1201 yes indeed brother! That's what I always tell to Harris fans but they will say it's the other way round 🤣. They say Harris is the one THAT created those bgms/arrangements for ARR. I know ARR does give freedom for his musicians to add in their own creativity in his songs but that '90s' music style is definitely from ARR and these composers adapted it from ARR since they worked with him. And very true, if you notice, ARR changes his music style, loop samples every 3 years. 1992-1994 has one style, 1995-1998 another, 1999 till 2002 another style and so on. I know it's very selfish of me to say this but I really do hope ARR does his 90s music style just for one album atleast. Miss that touch from him.
Thanks for another great episode and the interesting story of bringing Daler Mehndi. But couple of things puzzled me. 7:44 ROM mentions using Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan to sing the title song, but he died in 1997 but Rang De Basanti was released in 2006. Or did he actually mean Rahat Fateh Ali Khan? Later he mentions something about unavailability of Internet. Again hard to believe, as Internet was widely available in these years (2005-2006).
Like the last episode, this episode that moves you! The rendition of the title song of RDB was most unexpected considering the sequence of freedom fighters going to the gallows. And yet, it seems right as it becomes a song that is an anthem for the present generation to move on to fulfil the dreams of those who gave their lives to awaken others! And Daler Paaji did full justice. I am sure that ARR must have really felt enthused! And also added a new rustic touch to his music, thanks to Rakesh and Daler Paaji!! Great going Umesh!
Please if we'd also have lyricist Prasoon Joshi too. After hearing about the story behind 'Khalbali' think each story about the songs need to be told. Again thank you to Rahman, Prasoon & Rakeysh for RDB.
I can't comprehend one thing, Rakesh Mehra is saying firstly they wanted Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan to sing the title song of Rang De Basanti but they could not get access to reach to him but Nusrat ji was died way back in 1997. Kindly someone explain.
Dear Mr. Thind... Thak you for watching. RDB was in the making for almost 10 years... may be Nusrat saheb's name was discussed at a perticular moment. He also mentioned that the song was turning out to be too rounded... may be it was recorded in some singer's voice which didn't work. It's a production process. We had the option of leaving it out, still kept it... as we found it to be too important to be left out. After all Mr. mehra was recalling something that happened 15 years ago... Hope you have subscribed to the channel. If not please do... and share it further with your family, friends and groups. Regards.
Dear sir. Thanks for watching and marking your comment here. Plesae listen to the epsiode carefully. We are talking about the 1st song Lataji & Rahman sang together. Rakesh OP Mehra probably wanted to say Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and ended up saying Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan saahab... Nusrat saahab passed away in 1997 and RDB came out in 2005

Please do proper research. Rakeysh Mehra decided to make RDB (2006) after Aks (2001) and even if he spent 10 years on pre-production (which he didn't) it doesn't make sense when he says he considered Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan saab (who passed away in 1997) for the title track. Rahman was approached to compose for RDB only after Mangal Pandey (2005) and Bombay Dreams (2002-2004) as he himself mentions. So either Rakesh Mehra is a time traveller or he genuinely made a mistake & meant to say Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, who coincidentally debuted in Bollywood around the same time in Paap (2003).
07:35 mehra says he wanted to get fathe ali khan to sing the song. How the fk he was going to summon a dead man to sing his song? he died in 1997 and this movie is in 2007 lets assume it started 4 years ago still 2003
Dear Mr. Raj... The film was in the making (Including pre-production) for almost 10 years. And it was released in 2006. more than 15 years ago. May be right in the begininng Nusrat Saheb's name was discussed. Unfortunately he passed away. We kep this in the interview as we wanted to respect a director's statement that a name (Nusrat saheb) of that stature was considered. We hope to have answered your query. Thanks for sharing your comment. Alert viewers like you keep us on our toes. We are humbled. Kindly stay with the series. Please subscribe to the channel and share it further. Regards.

Perhaps it was during those discussions that Nusrat Saheb's name came up. Thus we didn't feel like editing it out. We also respected the fact that this interview we recorded after 16 years of the film's release. Warm Regards

Nusrat Fateh Ali khan had already passed away in 1997.. I think, He meant Rahat and not Nusrat..
Dear sir. Thank you very much for such passionate expressions. Your appreciation means a lot. Warm regards.
Please if we'd also have lyricist Prasoon Joshi too. After hearing about the story behind 'Khalbali' think each story about the songs need to be told. Again thank you to Rahman, Prasoon & Rakeysh for RDB.
Dear Mr. Sonawane. We are in touch with him. We will be featurng him soon. Regards.

Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan Sb left this world in 1997...
Why only hindi movies?
Regards.
I was thinking the same ? When Nusrat Fateh Ali died …even Rakesh om prakash’s first movie wasnt released…..
How can Luka Choppy be the first time Lata Mangeshkar sang for ARR? What about O Palan Hare, Khamoshiya Gungunane Lagi, Jiya Jale?
Dear sir. Thanks for watching and marking your comment here. Plesae listen to the epsiode carefully. We are talking about the 1st song Lataji & Rahman sang together. Before this lata ji sang Mr. Rahman's compositions (Including the songs you mentioned) but not with him. Kindly stay with the series. Regards.
🙏🏻🙏🏻
At 7.50 he is talking about nusrat fateh ali khan. But he had already died in 1997
Even Yuva was great

sounds like the interviewer is Kumar Varun
Desra sir.... May be they sound similar. All interviews are conducted by our director Mr. Umesh Aggarwal. Regards
Rakesh OP Mehra probably wanted to say Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and ended up saying Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan saahab... Nusrat saahab passed away in 1997 and RDB came out in 2005
Isn't jiya jale was rahman first song with lata ji??
Yes. that's when Lata ji sang Rahman's composition for the 1st time. But - Lukka Chuppi was the first song they sang together. We are delighted hear from you.
Hope you have visited our channel o2india... it has more than 80 episodes with stalwarts of cinema who collaborated with Mr. Rahman. We release new episodes every Thursday at 2P.M.
How the fk he was going to summon a dead man to sing his song? he died in 1997 and this movie is in 2007 lets assume it started 4 years ago still 2003
2nd thing this movie was copied from 2 movies or plots
7:36 Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan died in 1997 and this movie released in 2006, how do you get access to a dead person sir?
True, probably he had Rahat Fateh Ali Khan in mind and said Nusrat by mistake
@@ansarhusain4947 but they even showed Nusrat Ji's pic while talking about him... no one realised it?
@@apoorv10 ohhh yeah hahah
Dear Mr. Regards.
in 2022 Rakesh would've had sedition slapped on him!
Nusrat Ali khan died in 1997.

Why can't you guys make a proper Playlist of full videos in rahman sheets category... such a clumsy & messy channel...
Content is good, make a proper Playlist..
Hi bro...Before calling the channel "Clumsy" did you even check the time line. For each director Featured till now, they have seperate folders. And one folder for shorts. What else is expected. Please elaborate. Suggest what can be done instead of just abusing the channel.
Hahahahhahah. Didn't Nusrat ji die in 1997 itself??
