    Ludwig van Beethoven: Fifth Symphony - 1st movement (Arranged for organ by Jonathan Scott and Xaver Varnus). Filmed live at Varnus Hall in Nova Scotia.
    Xaver Varnus' first piano teacher was Emma Németh, one of the last pupils of Debussy. He has played virtually every important organ in the world, including those in Bach's Thomaskirche in Leipzig (2014), Berliner Dom (2013), Notre-Dame (1981), Saint-Sulpice (2006) and Saint-Eustache (1996) in Paris, National Shrine in Washington, D.C. (1985), and Canterbury Cathedral (2004), as well as the largest existing instrument in the world, the Wanamaker Organ in Philadelphia (1985). His Quadruple Platinum Disc winning album "From Ravel to Vangelis" (SONY, 2007), is the best-selling organ CD ever. As a Canadian citizen, Xaver Varnus resides in Berlin, and in Brooklyn, Nova Scotia Peninsula, where he opened Varnus Hall in a 19th century church. "Put simply, Varnus is a monster talent, every bit as stimulating and individual as the late Glenn Gould" (The Globe & Mail, Canada's National Newspaper). "He is one of the most influential figure in organ music in the early twenty-first century." (Mark Wigmore, The New Classical FM, Canada).

      There are more than 2 of those arrangements from the beethovens 5th. And Xaver didn't exactly wrote in the video that he made an arrangement.

    どこの国でもベートーベンの「交響曲第5番 ハ短調 作品67(日本では通称「運命」と呼ばれる)」は意外とポピュラー(?)なクラシック音楽なんですね。
    それにしても、全身をフル稼働させ演奏するオルガニストは見ていて圧巻です。お見事。
    Beethoven's "Symphony No. 5 in C minor, Op. 67 (commonly called "Fate("Un' Mei")" is surprisingly popular(?) classical music in every country. I was surprised to know that it is a popular classical music. The organist who plays the piece with his whole body working at full capacity is a sight to behold. It was a brilliant performance.

      @@EwicoCylinder Of course... This music is very old, so obviously many people made arrangements of it. But Marco is talking about "the arrangement", referring to this video, hence the one by Johnathan and Xaver.

    • @EwicoCylinder
      @EwicoCylinder Рік тому +1

      @@Engineer9736 Yes I understood that. And of course both Xaver and Jonathan made grade arrangements. But I tought beacuse I also own an arrangement of this piece saying it couldn't hurt so each organist has a possibility to chose what arrangement she/he wants to play.

    Nah, Beethoven had none of this simplistic thing in mind: he was shooting for a full orchestral piece.
    Not meaning this sounds bad, but... short anyway.
    Please note that Varnus is a great organist - as long as he interprets music designed for organ (in which he shines with great glory!)

    First mvmt of the 5th. This is not nice music. This is Beethoven fist-in-the-air music. Fate knocking at the door. Mr. Varnus captures this. Tense. Brooding. Appropriate camera shots to the stained glass of Jesus at the door.
