Beautifully acted and filmed, as always with this director. The very last scene, from a distance, was especially poignant. The poetic score by Eric Meyer also made an important contribution. These films say a lot in a few minutes and are great examples, in my opinion, of 'less is more'.
Oh... how beautiful. The need for independence and the need for companionship warring inside the human mind. This was incredibly well thought out and portrayed. Well done indeed.
I could watch these 2 girls. all. day. long. "Just say something to me." "........." "Just say something to me." "..............." Gets down on knees. Both look deeply into the eyes of one another. "Just say something to me." Yep. That's the beginning of a GREAT movie right there. All kidding aside, well done. Believable. I had feelings for the plight of both of these women.
Another winner video. A well written script, 2 good actors and you can sum up man's plight against the world or maybe even himself. I'm also fascinated by mute characters. I remember seeing a movie about two guys and one woman, who was mute. the name I've forgotten (it was something like three men's names, it wasn't "Tom, Dick & Harry" just something like that. ) Anyway, I kept thinking about that character and what it would be like to have a mute girlfriend/friend or even be mute yourself. It's a real unexpected plot twist. Thanks again for all your hard work!
Maybe you are talking about Le Dernier Combat. It is a French post-apocalyptic movie with Jean Reno (Leon: The Professional). The only dialogue in the entire movie has two words, due to the fact people were rendered mute by some unknown incident.
yes it is the " leaders" who want/need war;; NOT the people! ! we need/want peace friendships learning travel food hope water usefulness fun work play home we must lead govern represent OURSELVES! !
Ur a genius Ian. The real tragedy in this world is that artists like u dont get the recognition, publicity n reward for the art u give the world terrible tragedy. As usual, fantastic short movie as was ur other one three foxes. Instead of making new movies could u make part 2 s of this movie n three foxes. N pliz pliz ignore imbeciles who dont see the beauty of the masterpieces u created
This was truly beautiful ! What a well-made short film, I enjoyed every second of it ! It was amazing ! May I ask you which camera you used for this project ?
@@iharrup I think it's commonly expected that post apocalypse people forget about personal hygiene. I don't care what happens I'm going to have a civilized shit shower and shave every day even if I have to use a scooped out zombie skull as a water dipper.
So this woman attempts to commit suicide but instantly regrets it(?) and eventually finds hope with another human being. My feels-o-meter just went up to 90. I'm sure I can speak for others when I say this was amazing.
A lot of suicidal people chicken out at the last minute...more of a statement than true desire to end a life. Survival instinct is hard to override except for the truly desperate souls.
@@rcillustrations9075 and @donnaback6349 this chat here was the highlight of my visit at this movie. I hope the best for both of you. What a world that lets individuals increasingly feel lonely among 7,9 billion people today. I predict by the time we reach 10 billion, loneliness of individuals will dominate society, even more than blue-red talking points will. Then the loneliness might even, like for the women in this movie, wake the world up and save it from "leaders".
makes me wonder if a blood thirsty warmonger would not kill the last one, if it knew it would be all alone forever? but then i wonder the scorpion stings regardless because it has a tale. looking forward to when every one beats there sword into a plow or a pruning tool.
The point of this one is that flags, uniforms, and allegiances disappear when people are all alone. It is instinctual, overtaking the societal conditioning that leads people to become soldiers.
Societal conditioning? Soldiers arose from the need for societies trying to protect or seize from others. The warrior proved pretty ineffective at that so soldiers superseded them. That instinct arises from the urge to protect one's families and by extension a people or nation. It is as basic to us as the need for others is though they may counter act each other at times. The blood thirsty warmonger is far more common among ruling elites and those who've never served than it is among those who do so. Every war has plenty of tales of truces, humanity in the trenches as it were, aiding the enemy wounded etc. Trying to simplify human behavior w/the claim it's all social conditioning ignores what we are.
I did not get that the two characters were soldiers or that they were on another planet. Why did one of them put a noose around her own neck and was then shocked when it nearly killed her. Apart from that it was interesting and well done.
"The Federation War" is meant to imply combatants, therefore soldiers. She was ready to hang herself but decided against it almost too late, and paid a terrible price. Thank you for your comment!
I also don't get that it is another planet...it could be likely enough on Earth... certainly looks like Earth. The failed suicide attempt is completely realistic and immediately sets the tone as a desperate situation with lots of potential backstory that can be imagined. All in all pretty good low budget film.
Yeah, aiming with folded sights, great idea... Just think a little before doing something. It is really good besides that. Please don't spoil your future films with such stupid mistakes.
My pleasure. The opening shot of the noose swaying in the wind from the tree is very powerful and immediately grabs one's attention.

Again a nice short movie, beautiful story and beautiful filmed.
This promises a lot in the future of this crew. I go on looking the third movie:)
Thanks again, I'm glad you like my work so much!

You have grasped the point of the film perfectly. Thank you for your comment!
It is as clear as a sunny day with your quality of work. I, thank you.
Tracy, I think you nailed it! The need for human contact outweighed the need for survival, for, in fact, that's what survival demands.
"Just say something to me, just say something to me."
Indeed... :)

All kidding aside, well done. Believable. I had feelings for the plight of both of these women.
Neither one of these women struck me as being soldiers, but fortunately that's not central to the story. Nicely done!
Geoff Burkman Glad you still liked it! Thanks!
I guess if it was a major war of attrition eventually everyone has to join up... think child soldiers in Nazi Germany towards the end.
The actress who could speak was absolutely amazing.
I'll let her know, thanks!
the actress who couldn't speak was amazing.
With no man around, humanity is doomed for extinction.
beautifully done, please make part two. I am very interested in where they go from there.
An unexpected pleasure. Thankfully unlike most others. Very moving.
Very moving piece! Bravo.
Thanks Markus!
Great film. I thoroughly enjoyed this. Can't wait to check out more of your stuff.
Thanks so much, glad you did! I hope you enjoy the rest of my work!

Now I've become very curious about that movie...:)
Bravo 🎉 Great Performances 🎭
this SO true -- bringing the tears --
Still have to wear their makeup in the apocalypse.
That was a well done short film. Very much worth watching. Emotional level hit a 10.
Thank you for watching, and for your appreciation!
Beautiful story! Wouldn't change a thing.

Incredible short. Very powerful with its human context, not often you see this within this genre.
Thank you for your comment, and for seeing this film for what it was meant to be!
Fantastic I liked very much the short films.
great short Movie well done
Sweet.
Lonely gets tough. But don't give up.
Apparently after the apocalypse there will be makeup, toothpaste, and hair product in abundance.
Thank goodness for that... rather hang myself than have a bad hair day :D
I know , right ?

Thank you so much, I'm glad you liked it! We used a Canon 5D Mk III, with Magic Lantern software enabling us to shoot RAW video.
Wonderful!
Glad you think so!
Superb job, great acting, wonderful story, and a well written script. My only complaint is how new everything looks haha.
Glad you liked it! I think next time I'll have my actors do 20-mile hikes and THEN shoot the film haha

An all girl version of the Twilight Zone episode "Two." Nice film.

OK , unusual approach , but as still in the woods 70 % of all Post Apocalyptic Shorts are there because of characters lack of preparedness .
