    Decent acceleration for a good looking car!

    this 2008/20009 X-Type is rather good and more jaguarish than any X-Type before. Next to a massively improved ride (suspension) and improved cabin quality it is quite torquey when compared to its gasoline brethren. It's obviously not a race car or "GT"-like car, but it's powerful enough to provide plenty acceleration in normal day to day driving. I own both the 2.5 V6 gasoline and the 2.2 diesel. The latter is definitely the better car. And it is much more fuel efficient then its gasoline siblings. The best X-Type unfortunately was never built: A 2.0 liter direct injection gasoline with a turbo. That's what Ford/Jaguar should have come up with. X-Types due to whatever reason are massively underrated. However, looking back the past 15 years, this was one of the best models from Jaguar.

      I think that xtypes are great too, but i would really love it if they made it with rwd option, just put the drivetrain from stype into it damn it

      @@szypki_zygi you're right. But I'm glad they did it front drive and all-wheel because it's mostly my wife driving it and she hates everything rear wheel. Makes her feel very unsafe in winter conditions.

      The facelift didnt change the suspension or interior quality did it? I thought it was just new bumpers, grill boot and a dpf

      @@OscarHobsonHi, in the 2008 restyling the interior has different finishes, for example, the instrument panel has chrome frames and different needles, the dashboard has a real rose wood veneer (piano black or carbon fiber in other versions) and tungsten metallic finish, chrome details added almost everywhere. Added the Sport Trim pack too for more exclusive interior. Famous the fact of the new sequential gearbox in the 2.2L.
      Jaguar claimed over 500 different details inside and out.
      The diesel versions had already been updated by Ricardo Engineering, chassis, suspension (but I actually saw it being interchangeable with the 3.0 V6), intake, intercooler and gear ratios.
      In the 2008 restyling, Ricardo Engineering worked hard on the automatic/sequential gearbox (AISIN tf80sc, same of Volvo S60) to make downshifts smoother and on the development to obtain better performance to overcome the fact of having lost 10 HP due to the DPF.
      I would add that the X-Type 2.2L develops maximum power at 3500 RPM and then dies, I recommend using it at medium revs where it pushes quite hard (in the automatic shift use the manual mode for change at 3500 RPM).
      Sorry for my poor English, I'm writing from Italy.
      Greetings.

      Wrong this is a diesel car peak torque is from 1800 rpm to about 3000 the rotational Force called toruge that pushes a car down the road after 3000rpm your off peak power the idea is in any car to maintain peak torque which in a diesel is all low down in the RPM. People are very confused about brake horsepower brake horsepower is irrelevant it's peak torque and maintaining peak torque that is important when it comes to acceleration

    • @szypki_zygi
      @szypki_zygi Рік тому

      @@ashleynew5499 bruv, why does my Gixxer pull harder after the peak torque when it's starting to fall down? And im not saying that he should push it to 4500 every time, just in the gear that it does 100 because he changed it before 100 this increasing the time by a lot, and the thing with cars is that you have to find the sweet spot where power is good, if the HP climbs after that 3000 why wouldn't he push it there? It will still pull and have more power if he revved it to only 3k than changed the gear and now he is at 2k, the turbo has to spool and all that. You can't outsmart me, i know my shit and my shit is proven. Oh and why does 900hp Audi RS6 C6 pull after 6k when the peak torque is at 3k? Oh yeah right, because torque isnt the only thing that matters 🙂

      @@szypki_zygi Audi RS6 is not Diesel...
      This engine is a ZSD-PUMA, it was originally developed for the Ford Transit! For the X-Type it was re-tuned by Ricardo engineering for Jaguar expectations, but it still derives from a commercial vehicle.
      It is an engine created to push hard at low speed, it is also equipped with overboost (from 360 to 400 nm) and is only available around 2200 RPM.

  • @ashleynew5499
    @ashleynew5499 Рік тому +2

    You obviously do not know how to drive a diesel after 3000rpm you got virtually no torque do that test again but keep the torgue between 1800 and 3000 RPM by changing through the gears quicker, you will find the car will get to top speed sooner Torque is the rotational Force that pushes the car to accelerate. Therefore you not need to Redline the car what you need to do is maintain peak torque for as long as possible.

    • @user-nu1ry7bc2i
      @user-nu1ry7bc2i Рік тому

      Exactly as you say. I own thw 2.2 Jag and after 300 rpm you simply destroy the car. All the power comes between 1800 and 3000 top rpm

    • @Faccio_carate_e_giugitzu
      @Faccio_carate_e_giugitzu Місяць тому

      It's true, also because at low revs this car has the overboost (from 360 to 400 nm of torque).
      But it's all useless if you drive at high revs. Most of the tests involving this car are inaccurate due to not respecting the true potential of the engine

      For 1700-1800 kgs car with 2.2 engine thats not bad,but if you compare 2.0d and 2.2 you shouldnt feel difference at acceleration, its a luxury car btw so it doesnt matter how fast you are,the matter is which car did you use, i have a 2.0 d and 3.0 v6, i prefer a diesel unit,only because its cheaper to exploation, despite that the acceleration different is small if you compare that to 3.0 and diesel by ford
