Hi I am an arranger and I ever worder If there is literature or tutorials where I could learn to set three part peaces like those the thre ladies sang in this song. Or is it all improvisation (Which I don't believe)?
The girl in the middle was Lily May & Rosie's younger sister Minnie who used the stage name of Susie (like Black Eyed Susie). She was the lead singer on their trio stuff.
The Coon Creek Girls were the first all female bluegrass band. They once played a command performance at the Invitation of Eleanor Roosevelt at vf the Whitehouse for the Queen of England. Lily Mae Ledford, playing banjo, was my mother's Uncle's sister in law and a dear friend of our family.
Fabulous group...never get tired of listening to them. Great banjo.
My baby son is laughing and smiling to this song.
Your baby has impeccable taste in music

Needs to be updated to modern tastes. How many tacos can you eat this morning??
Pretty sure that's June Carter. Not Anita. She is much prettier.
This is not the Carter Family, but the Carters sang this song as a commercial on the Opry.

Fuck. I love being American.
Appalachia suffers from catastrophic rates of morbid obesity; could this song help explain that?
