Thanks for sharing this great performance June. You were so far ahead of your time and so appreciated NOW. I sincerely hope a call from the Rock and Roll Hall is in Fanny's future.
Nicky Barclay driving those vocals. You guys were awesome. Back in those days I was listening to the Bubble Puppy, Janis Joplin, Blue Cheer, Santana, Bay area bands.
They should have been huge! Fanny paved the way for every female band you can think of, they didn't have good management and I'm sure back then they dealt with habitual sexism, sad. Why aren't they in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? Oh that's right they are a political organization who play favorites. You rock Fanny!
And they were better than every girl band that followed . The most popular among them in the 70's were the Runaways , which I actually like , but Fanny could run circles around them . The best girl band that's ever existed , easily !!
I was lucky to see them a few times during their run. Awesome to see live. It bugs me when I read that the Bangles or Runaways were some of the first true all girl groups.
I didn't listen to the song yet - I like reading your stories you write well and take me right there to the mid and late 60's - and yeah - thank fully !!! someone records the stuff and saves the stuff and then closes the loop and gets it digitized onto the net so it can fully live on forever - (I've got a ton of VHS tapes of stuff that have to be put on hard drives "to close the loop" ) but you did - you took care of the future you way back when
I saw Fanny at the Whiskey ,I’m guessing around 1971ish. A friend turned me on to them. They were amazing, I would compare them to Deep Purple or Humble Pie. I even went backstage and met the band. They were great, gave us some beer and we talked to them for a bit. A truly great hard rock band that never got their do. Believe me these women could bring it.
Hey June, I heard your "Aint that Peculiar" a few years ago and thought it was great. Today, I started exploring more of Fanny music on the UA-cam and WOW! It's too bad the pay-ola music industry of the 70s kept you ladies out of the big time. Fanny seemed to be very diverse in genres and should have been bigger than what it was allowed. You ladies rock!
Fanny used so many interesting dynamics in their song arrangements ! I discovered them late, and very cool that they originated in Sacramento ! ✌️ Beat Club performance RULES !!
@@JuneEsWorld just discovered you guys, I have already talked with Alice on another video's thread...I hope Jean doing btr...but imo, you guys should be in the R&RHOF...ground breakers and talented, I'm only sad, as a 59 yr old hard rock fan, I didn't discover you before...You've gained a new fan, you rock...
The ONLY Barbra Streisand album I own is the one Fanny played on and the only two song's I listen to are "Where You Lead" and "Space Captain." {Especially SPACE CAPTAIN } PS. I love Hey Bulldog but only in the last few year's discovered it's a Beatles song ! I'm 75, British and been listening to your LP's for around 50 year's & still play them. PPS. I'm a Stone's Fan & like many Brit's, not overly bothered by the Fab Four.
Seen you at Cape Cod Coliseum in 72’or 73’ opening for the late great Chuck Berry. Never forgot that night you really impressed me, I had seen Chuck once before. Don’t know if you recall that long ago but I was that skinny 17 yr old who was allowed to jump on stage and take pictures of Chuck with my disposable camera!
@@JuneEsWorld Thank you for responding June it’s been a long time! I can’t believe you heard me wasn’t expecting it. That night the audience experienced the first all out girl band who could rock it as good as the boys! Not to mention you and your sister looked pretty hot. Found out later you were of Filipino descent like me! Yeah the security let me climb on stage with my little camera. Had some good pictures of Chuck playing piano but eventually lost them. You know in 2014 I witnessed a ufo light orb pass by me only a few feet away one night and a rock icon like you responding to me equals that!
@@JuneEsWorld I’m one of those hard core fans who buys every bootleg of the bands I love. Thanks for responding to me! I was 13 in 1970 and I’m sorry I never heard of you back then.
Kick ass info baby. Right on. You were sure in killer company eh. Philipinos are legendary singers especially sibling harmonising eh lol. The only threats to my daughters in high school were Philippine sisters.
Sounds like a "bootleg" recording :) Like someone (in the "audience") recorded on some tape recorder with one single mike....I guess. Not professionally recording, but lots of gold got archived this way.... Thanks. (Now I read below, you recorded it yourself, June. Great) (Reel 2 Reel tape recorder?)
@@JuneEsWorld most excellent, Ms. Millington. It sounds just like I imagined when reading Land of a Thousand Bridges. Wild, loud and tight. Thanks for posting
Why aren't these songs dominating classic rock radio? Just fantastic!

Too good this track, Fanny performed her songs with a precision that I don't see in any other band. That's what makes me love them so much!

A record store day release of this and anything else from that show would be nice.
Unfortunately no record company would release a tape of this quality. Only hard-core fans would buy it.

Yes, after this lineup.
