I was given this ipad 7th gen and bought a pencil and i'm having so much fun getting lost in this thing!.. it doesn't come intuitively to me, as it does to my daughter, who inspires me to draw and be creative, but i'm having fun learning to draw, and this helped immensely, as i love pine trees, but, as i said, i don't have natural abilities.. so, thank you so very much! Why it doesn t give me the option to choose from gallery to import my stamp photo and it takes me straight in icloud drive
You may need to allow Procreate access to your photo gallery in device settings.

Hi, amazing vid but I have a problem. When I click the drawing pad instead of 1 tree, there is a stroke so do you know how to fix the this?
Hmm... maybe try adjusting the Count or another Shape setting?

Can you make so each time you add a single tree it’s a slightly different size?
I think the best way to do that is to adjust the brush size each time.

Hi I hope you see this but a faster way to take the background off is to click what you want you brush to be but click it with the add button on automatic and click save and load then save it there after that clear everything on that layer then go back to the area where the save and load button is then click the thing you saved before it and you took the background off a faster way

Somehow I cannot select the background.
There’s a few different selection methods, so make sure you have the correct one.
Most of the time, automatic is the best to use for single color background selections. If you need to trace use the freehand! Hope that helps
Um so I did everything up until the part where you like remove the thing it’s hard to explain but until 2:03 I was good but there it didn’t work and now I’m overthinking was that supposed to not happen-
I’m confused there to i tried doing it several ways and it didn’t separate so I tried freeform and tracing it and that allowed me to move the tree but not the background so I could cut the tree out but still have the background

How do you “clean up the outline”? Sorry I’m new to procreate and I’m a complete dummy
If the silhouette is looking rough, you can erase or add to it until u love it. Just do the edits on the same layer.

@@Elseweyr when you said to cut the background the whole thing just disappeared so I got really confused
To remove the background of the pic you can also go to select→freeform→add→automatic so that add will be selected and then you can click on the tree instead of wasting time on selecting the parts outside the tree :) then you can cut the tree, clear the layer and paste it in. Ta-da.

This is a great help. Thanks. One particular shape that I have that I am making a stamp brush from always ends up narrower when pasted into brush shape than it was when I copied the white image from the canvas. Why should that be? I have tried it several times, with different canvas sizes. The brush always ends up with a narrow aspect ratio?
I worked around this issue by having a canvas size with a 1x1 ratio. Hope that helps!

I have followed your method, when I have made sure everything is according to your method I still have problems when I make two trees that are stacked, there is still a difference in color (even though I have set the opacity to the end) how do I solve this? thanks
It maybe related to the pressure sensitivity setting. Hope that helps!
It didn’t work for me the background didn’t come off I did exactly to the letter what you instructed idk where I went wrong I’m on my iPad I was using my fingers can you explain ?
Hmm. I’d try the freehand selection tool again. Select everything that you want to remove, connect the selection and swipe down with three fingers. Cut and you should have the result you want. Also make sure there’s no layers turned on under it bc that would make it look like nothing happened. Hope this helps!

Make sure they are on one layer and then apply a Gaussian blur! Just slide it to your preference :)

After you make the brush try tapping with your finger instead of the pencil. Sometimes that works better! Hope that helps.
wouldn't it be quicker to select the tree and inverse selection? (i'm new to procreate) but its how I would do it in photoshop.

Need help please. First couple times this worked great, now I dunno what I did. I click on the background and it turns black. Tree remains white and I have a blue background even with the background turned off. Arg!!!! Just when I was getting the hang of this!
Did you fully remove the background? When you click on it make sure to swipe down and cut or remove it! Hopefully that’s it!

Hello I was wondering if you had any idea on what im doing wrong, everything goes well other than when I try to import the brush by pasting the it in the shape section it comes out somewhat distorted, like its being squished almost. Would be awesome if you know what I did wrong, thanks again!
I’ve seen this problem b4 too! I think it has to do with the canvas size. Try switching your canvas. Hope that’s it. If not lmk and I’ll do more digging.

Ahh it could be! I’m not too familiar with using procreate on a phone.
When I tried
I copied then edit paste but it disappeared it didn’t work
You can also save the layer as an PNG and insert it that way. Maybe try that. Hope it helps.
For some reason it just keeps inverting the colors, black background white tree, over and over again till it’s normal again
I believe there is an invert setting. I’d check that!

There is a brush rotation or scatter setting! Try adjusting that!

Lol seriously autocorrect... I said this doesn't work...I still cannot for the life of me get the tree background to separate so I can make it a paintbrush. I've watched this video so many times and it's really only like 5 steps and idk what I'm doing wrong.

Sometimes is hidden and you have to swipe up or down to reveal it. Hope that helps!
Mine ain’t working bc the tree don’t leave a template below. I use the select tool to move it and then all it does is move the image leaving nothing underneath

I figured it out and I’m stupid I had color fill on so it wasn’t letting me select and cut it out.
Hmm. When you select the image try cutting it from the background and pasting it on a new layer. Sorry tough to tell without seeing it!

Try it on a 1v1 canvas size. Sometimes that messes with it.
