Man so was I! I have multiple comments on multiple videos about how I was so worried about them. There's still a long way to go but this is the best they've looked in the postseason since their last run to the conference finals. These new lines are looking so dangerous!
The depth scoring-everyone on the bench stepping up and playing their best and beyond-that’s indeed impressed me most of all. We don’t have a team built around just one or two superstars. This is a team, not merely a collection of players.
Don’t wanna count my chickens before they hatch, but this really feels like the year Carolina finally makes that deep run. Depth scoring and consistent goaltending’s been their two biggest failings in the past few postseasons, and it finally looks like they’ve solved it
I agree, though I’m still pretty nervous about our 4th line, they’ve been getting kinda cooked so far this series. I’d like to see maceachern maybe get another chance
Canes going to beat FL or TOR, hands down. No one in the east can handle this style of play. Tor and FL has no real defensive system like this. Canes are ridiculously underrated by all NHL analysts.
2nd Round is usually where a team steps up to show they are on the Cup roll. Carolina looks to be taking that step forward. There may be some historical evidence to support that.
As an original rangers fan and then moving to Raleigh in 1988, watching the rangers win the cup in the early 90’s and then there was all this talk of a professional hockey team coming to Raleigh. Then it actually happened and it didn’t make sense putting a hockey team in an area controlled by 3 college teams and die hard fans of UNC-DUKE-NCSU. Last night watching those guys play again that hard with 3 top scorers out almost brought me to tears. Seeing them win the cup in 2006 was crazy but it all comes down to coaching at this point for the canes. They are proving they are a deeper team then anyone would have thought. Having Andersen back is a major plus. I really want to see a canes/oilers rematch in the cup this season.
First cup I ever saw live, Canes vs Oilers, I picked the Canes. Right about now I've had that eery feeling that after finally seeing my team win last year, I'd see a repeat of 06 and yeaaaaah lol
I along with most canes fans never expected to make it out of round 1. Islanders played great. Idk who this canes team is but I’ll take it. The last 2 months of the season were dreadful. Glad to see a full team effort stepping up. Jerseys no slouch so I’d never count them out but we’re not the Rangers. I appreciate the awesome content THG!
So did the bruins. Don’t get get me wrong I never doubt the quit in Carolina. But with our major losses and a hungry isles team I was weary. Happy for a 2-0 lead but still much more work to do. This team is playing much more like our mid Nov to Jan team. February and March we seemed to lose our mojo. No denying that.
It was the Islanders though, and the Canes have now won at least one series in 8 straight playoff appearances. Also 12-1 now in the first round at home under Brind'Amour. A loss in the first round would have been surprising. After that, I had less confidence due to injuries, but look phenomenal so far.

Canes seem to be peaking again like they did in December and were the 1A to the Bruins. Now their forwards are getting goals as well as their D. Now the Devils have to play tough to both positions. No Power Play goals the Devils and the Canes are getting goals on the power play as well. Devils can turn it around, but when you are getting beat in every position where do you start?
On the topic of entertaining hockey, low vs high scoring games, this is one of the high scorers that personally I find to be less then great to watch. No competition, you need to be a fan of the winning team to really enjoy the game, but even then its less satisfying then a OT or 3rd period win. Canes are clicking, and its looking way too easy.
If you're not a fan of the team that's scoring all the goals it's not exactly fun to watch a team steamroll another. It's that way in all sports I think. Look at the college football championship where Georgia destroyed TCU. it was just a boring game.
I don't think the Devils can overcome this 0-2 series deficit. The Canes are looking good and they seem to have shaken off road game woe against the Islanders unlike last year.
I got my answer to can Carolina score enough goals in the playoffs. Looking like Florida vs Carolina in the Eastern Conference Finals if Toronto and New Jersey don't fix things in a hurry, but there is still time.
The Devils came out well 1st period, but then just fell apart. My gut is suspecting fatigue as the reason because the way the schedule worked out we got zero rest between the Rangers and the Canes whereas the Canes were fresh off a 5 day rest. This team has played WAY better then this all season long and even turned it up against the Rangers so I am hoping that they find that next gear.
I‘d agree with that. It seems not scoring first goal is a mental block for the devils. After 2:0 the game was pretty much done. Also I think I saw Marino twice on situations as last man playing way to offensively - generally speaking I feel like their D tried to get something working/playing more risky which in turn allowed the canes to do their transition game. Meier is what now? 30 shots on goal - still hasn’t scored, that is not sustainable. If I were the Canes I‘d still be scared because Jarvis, Kotkaniemi & Noesen, are not J Hughes, Meier & Bratt. One good game, boosting confidence, can make it look very differently.
I was going to say the same thing about the Devils going home. It's really not looking good for them. I'm really hoping they can get it going again like they did against the Rangers. I'm not a Devils fan, but I'd rather see them move on than the Canes
Going into the playoffs, without 3 of our top 6, I was skeptical. But damn, Rod has these guys working their butts off. That 2nd period the Canes were like a loaded dump truck, going downhill with no breaks and NJ had no answers. Just dominant.
As a canes fan this feels similar vs Boston last year where Rod was always able to get the matchups he wants at home. I’m interested how it goes when Hughes can get away from Staal more when play away.
I think a lot of people have been a little bit "oh carolina they're good BUUUUUUT" i think they've been pretty convincing so far as one of the best teams in the play offs thus far, they are gonna be a tough nut to crack, yeah they don't have the star power of other teams but this is a team sport
Devils are done, can't see them doing another Houdini, and Canes were at this same stage last year. Its weird how last seasons 2 best teams, are probably going to be the eastern conference finalists, despite not being as good as last year
As a Devils fan yes. I was saying this feels different from the NYR series while watching the game. Other than the first half of P1 this looked like a junior team vs. an NHL team. We'll see if going home to the Rock changes anything.
After the 1st period it really was no contest. Probably a sweep by 'Canes and that may hurt them trying to stay sharp during a long wait 'til the next game.
My Devils need to remember they have no pressure on them and have absolutely nothing to lose playing in the 2nd round this year & just play loose and have fun and maybe the big boys will actually start producing then
I'd say Canes in 6 would be a reasonable prediction. Devils probably split at home, rally to win game 5 but fall in 6. They look more outmatched than they did against the Rangers, due to the Canes' stellar defensive game.
That defense is what stood out to me, and during the Isles series. They've found a way to play the NZ trap in the modern NHL and nobody is doing it better.
Devils were let off easy by (my) Rangers - no team defensive structure, offensive structure north-south, no real grit. Canes are much better structured, and crush all that open ice. They will grind all the flying skaters to dust, its impressive
Devils fan here-difference between this series and round 1 is the Rangers power play is what gave them the edge in those first 2 games. This series, Carolina is dominating 5v5 play better than the Rangers were. Very concerning, although I’m not giving up on them yet-they’ve earned that right after last series. But not a good first 2 games by any means
I was at the game. It was super loud. Much louder than any game I’ve been to before, here or elsewhere. First period there was a big hit by Fast that fans loved, but looked to me like it should’ve been an interference call. Second period, Canes came out swinging, boosted by the PP. Once they solved Schmid it was all Canes from there. Unlike Rangers, this team is not going to let up just because they’re up 2-0. Devils aren’t gonna make it out of this round.
This is a lot different than the rangers series cause canes are dominating special teams and 5 on 5. Rangers and devils were pretty even on 5 on 5 but canes are dominating every aspect. Devils haven’t scored on the pp all year. Crazy
you cant score vs that PK and general 5 on 5. Once the Devils try harder and open it up, it always becomes 3-0, 4-0 very quickly trailing and losing. There's no other way to see it.
Certainly looks like NJ has met their match this year (barring some homeice magic to get back in the series). Carolina is outworking NJ and winning battles that are directly leading to goals. That's not something systems or lineup tinkering can fix, frankly. Hope they can learn from this for 2024 and beyond as a fan, but still a great season - their window is just starting. Credit to Carolina, they've paid their dues and are playing their game lights outs. I don't know who can beat them the rest of the way if they keep this up.
Yeah I’m a neutral party and this feels different. Having said that I don’t think NJ will just lay down and die. I expect a massive push to start Game 3 and if they get one early maybe that breaks them out of the slumber. To this point though they look overmatched.
To be fair not only did the devils start 0-2 in round one, but carolina also dropped their game 3 in round 1. If they dominate the devils again in their own building this time, pull out your broom 🧹

The depth scoring-everyone on the bench stepping up and playing their best and beyond-that’s indeed impressed me most of all. We don’t have a team built around just one or two superstars. This is a team, not merely a collection of players.
Crazy how the Canes can score like this without their aces. Canes and Panthers Conference final is looking mighty likely.
Mo vs. Rod. Staal vs Staals.
We want staal on staal
It would make espn really happy...
Respect to the Cats from a Canes fan.
Don’t wanna count my chickens before they hatch, but this really feels like the year Carolina finally makes that deep run.
Depth scoring and consistent goaltending’s been their two biggest failings in the past few postseasons, and it finally looks like they’ve solved it
I hope you make it. My Rangers are out so now I’m rooting for the Canes!! Go Canes Go!! All the way!
I agree, though I’m still pretty nervous about our 4th line, they’ve been getting kinda cooked so far this series. I’d like to see maceachern maybe get another chance
Watch out for darkhorse Florida!
Looks like we might get a panthers hurricanes ecf that has seemed destined over the last couple of seasons
The Canes are the scariest team in the NHL hands down. They are doing this while missing an entire 1st line. Very scary,
They can start having a scoring drought again
Canes going to beat FL or TOR, hands down. No one in the east can handle this style of play. Tor and FL has no real defensive system like this. Canes are ridiculously underrated by all NHL analysts.
@@JackStormo calm down. You have to beat the devils first.
@@thenorthman515 sweep city. And rest and prepare.
Huh? We won our division bro
You dont talk on behalf of the canes
yeah I don't know what you are talking about, never doubted the canes for a second in the first round, although the 2nd round is a different story
@@yellowkid846 you must not have watched the end of their regular season
Kotkaniemi has improved so much. Proud of him
He was a bust with Carolina til now
@@maudlewis8536 nah, if you watched the canes in the regular season you’d know KK has been one of our best players since the all-star break
@@h_man2477 I have been. Im a canes fan. Just haven’t really seen the hype. He got paid a bit too much for his efforts on ice imo. That’s changing though. The guy is starting to grow into his own with age
@@maudlewis8536 He’s easily been a top 3 forward for us since Svech got injured. Even when he went on that 3 points in 20 games drought he was one of our best defensive forwards. 4.8 mill is the perfect contract for how he’s playing
@@Caniac122 that’s fair. His defensive game is sound. I’d take Jarvis or Martinook over KK if I had to pick
Canes in 3
Same with the Panthers
Oh! Go Canes
Devils have now been outscored 21-4 in games 1 and 2s…
Thats an insane stat!
@@louisbuss6068 Ya apparently they need some time to just relax and feel their opponent out first 😂
As a Canes fan, I am over the moon. They could not be playing any better right now.
Canes seem to be peaking again like they did in December and were the 1A to the Bruins. Now their forwards are getting goals as well as their D. Now the Devils have to play tough to both positions. No Power Play goals the Devils and the Canes are getting goals on the power play as well. Devils can turn it around, but when you are getting beat in every position where do you start?
what a great game for the Canes! Am I the only one who thought the TNT commentators were totally biased in favor of New Jersey?
TNT is garbage. Garbage quality picture and yes they’re def New Jersey homers.
...he was like that good old Canadian invention...velcro...
love the Noesen sweater! In Rod We Trust!
We’ve got em right where we want em 😈 (Please don’t get swept)
What planet are you on?
The second game score is different than from the second game of last series
Lol !
I don't think the Devils can overcome this 0-2 series deficit. The Canes are looking good and they seem to have shaken off road game woe against the Islanders unlike last year.
Time will tell on that, but they look great to this point. GO CANES
Except these were 2 home games
Gonna be an all-Staal brothers ECF
We will see Sunday if you are right ......hopefully!!
The problem is, Anderson is on his game, doesn't look good for the Devils.
Carolina is ready to go straight to the Conference Finals and on to the Stanley Cup Finals
New Jersey are a really good team with questionable goaltending. They really need to fix that in the off-season.
Happy the canes didn't sell the farm for Meier
Devils got owned badly
These one game nights in round 2 are tough..
Hurricanes playing extremely solid defense. Stanley Cup caliber defense.
It does feel different due to the face that in the first round they were at home for the first 2 games.
“AHHHHHHHHHHHH! MISTAH SVECHNIKOVVVVVVVV!”
I hope he’s back soon.
Six months typical for an ACL.
We shall see LGD! Luke play’n 🔥
After the 1st period it really was no contest. Probably a sweep by 'Canes and that may hurt them trying to stay sharp during a long wait 'til the next game.
My Devils need to remember they have no pressure on them and have absolutely nothing to lose playing in the 2nd round this year & just play loose and have fun and maybe the big boys will actually start producing then
Just brutal how they treated Hischier. But the refs obviously don't give a damn. Things could escalate very badly now.
I'd say Canes in 6 would be a reasonable prediction. Devils probably split at home, rally to win game 5 but fall in 6. They look more outmatched than they did against the Rangers, due to the Canes' stellar defensive game.
SWEEP city.
Plus Brin’damour is a great coach.
FL or TOR are toast, im sure of it.
@@JackStormo Panthers are on a mission, if they get past TOR I think they give the Canes a run for the money.
The Cats are looking damn good. I predict Cats v Canes will go seven games, the winner will move onto the finals.
Wasn't a good game from NJ but the series isn't over yet, looking forward to watching them flip the script in person on Sunday LGD!

@Frank T real classy of yiu Rangers fans to celebrate injuring a guy.
@@JackStormo the devils could very easily turn this series around. Canes are historically bad at game 3
Daaaaaaaa CANES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SWEEP!!!!!!!!!!
Canes are better and more experienced. Devils had an insane season in their rebuild, lots to be excited about.
Is that a McGinn or a steph noesen jersey
I think it's a Martin Gelinas, even though he played for the team years ago and never wore that jersey
@@puckpuff8719 bout to say, that’s not a familiar name so he must not have worn that specific jersey lol
@@connorleeson7229 I'm pretty sure he's worn it in a video at least once before
Yeah I’m a neutral party and this feels different. Having said that I don’t think NJ will just lay down and die. I expect a massive push to start Game 3 and if they get one early maybe that breaks them out of the slumber. To this point though they look overmatched.
As a devs fan canes are playing great! If that shot by dougie goes in I think we got a diffrent game
To be fair not only did the devils start 0-2 in round one, but carolina also dropped their game 3 in round 1. If they dominate the devils again in their own building this time, pull out your broom 🧹
