I’m a little worried about losing Blackwood at the trade deadline ngl, but if askarov can deliver it won’t be that bad. Gotta flip players to rebuild of course
Good to hear that Nurse probably isn't going to be out for too long. Oilers play Leafs again in February next year, when Kane should be back for them. That'll be a game to watch.
It's funny. When they played on Saturday, that was the start of the Oilers' Eastern Canadian road trip. The rematch on February 1 is the start of the Leafs' Western Canadian road trip (with a stop in Seattle mixed in).
Hawks fan here. I'm not worried about a playoff push, but I'd like for Bedard to have capable linemates, and it would be nice to be good enough to feel like there's at least a real chance on any night to beat any team in the league. Mrazek has been alright, and should probably have more Ws. I'm really not happy with passing on Demidov right now. I hope whatever moves don't give up future picks, and if anything, I don't mind getting good lottery odds once more. I just really want Bedard and the young guys to be able to grow together and know how to step it up and win games when the time for a playoff run comes.
Wonder if Oilers consider taking a flyer on Kapanen. Would be interesting if taking him would work out for the Oilers after the Blues took 2 of their players via offersheets.
I think the Sharks will give Askarov a run-out against the Blues on Thursday night. Second night of a back-to-back and on the road (less pressure) against a team that has struggled to find goals this season.
Chicago management are smothering the life out of their generational talent by giving him nobody to play with. People were applauding the Black Hawks for stripping the team down to the studs, but they need to start giving Bedard linemates who know which end of the stick to hold, instead of chasing the 1st overall pick in the next entry draft as their goal. If you look at the roster in Pittsburgh from Year 1 of Sidney Crosby, they continually surrounded him with and added skilled veterans every season for those first few years, not flushing them down the drain every trade deadline.
Hall should be revitalizing his career with Bedard, he was last season until his very untimely season ending injury about 10 games in. So yeah, the fact he's not paired with him as the best winger in the team still, imo was a telltale sign.
I always liked Kapanen, his speed is lethal. I feel like he's fairly one dimensional though, and he would need a really particular system on a team to thrive, and he might not get that chance.
Thanks for the video! I doubt a Blackhawks head coach change would make a difference for this season. I wouldn't want to saddle a new head coach with what has been built for this season. I would wait until February or even let Richardson know he was on the way out and allow him to find something and leave on his own terms sooner if he cares to do so. I don't think they gave him a good opportunity and he's been a saint absorbing the rebuild but I also don't think he's done much with what little he has had, so I think his future lies elsewhere. He's just 55 and has plenty of head coaching in his future. Also, there's plenty enough blame to go around, if blame is the right word, but I'm more inclined to accept what has come before, call it the past, and move on with a new head coach who could be brought on toward the end of the season when it's beyond any doubt there are no playoff hopes. The players we have will do well enough for this year protecting Bedard (Maroon and Murphy) and I don't think it is a bad thing for Bedard to need to play in these adverse conditions. It'll make him a more creative player going forward. The Rockford Icehogs are a lazy afternoon's drive from the United Center and the BH front office and coaching staff should use this season to season some of the youngsters in the farm system. Derek King is your continuity, and came up from the Icehogs as their coach, and if Luke Richardson finds a new position before we find his replacement, King can interim coach again as he did before Richardson was brought on board. I don't know that King is head coach material, maybe he should be considered, but he's definitely proven his worth as an interim and assistant (and he should get a pay raise, as well).
Same thing happened with Nick Seeler for the start of the Flyers year, obviously not AS noticeable as matthews being out, but supposedly he blocked a shot in practice and it just took longer to heal than they thought it would. what they thought shouldve been one game was like 5
As a wings fan I’m really wondering what opportunity we’re going to offer Sebastian Cossa and when. He’s been lights out in GR this year and last. It’s really bizarre what we’re doing in net with a guy like him in the pipeline, but that seems like a common sentiment in hockeytown
The turnover of personnel on the Blackhawks over each one of the last four or five years has been considerable. Getting some measure of cohesion with a roster that changes by 50% each year would be an impossible task, IMHO...... And I look at players thriving on other teams, and a little voice in my head says, "He wasn't good enough to play for us.............................. .................................................
I was looking at Chicago's roster the other day and thought to myself, "This has got to be the worst team in the league." I think by the end of the year that's where they'll end up. They got nothing.
Askarov is ready for the NHL now. He's not gonna improve much more at the AHL level. Sharks are playing competitive and could probably use Askarov to steal games for them.
This whole injury debacle communication thing is just absurd I just find it weird how we know how much a player is making yet we’re not allowed to know the extent of their injuries or at least like something about it. NHL should definitely make a rule requiring teams to share that information so that there’s more clarity
Drives me nuts. Why don’t they tell us anything? Guy gets hurt and we have no idea what it is or how long it’ll be. WHY??? You hear nothing about it. Would love to hear something about Boeser. Hope he’s okay but can we get literally any information? It’s gotten so bad.
It’s gambling, player safety, and player privacy. Some people are assholes and vindictive, they’ll aim for injuries. Why discuss exactly what’s wrong when it could be targeted. Also they’re professional athletes but they owe us nothing in terms of disclosing their health, would you like every bit of health information on you disclosed to the public? I think that answer is pretty universally NO.
Kapanen's a great skater like his dad was, but he's got some attitude problems like many of his Finnish contemporaries (Laine, Puljujarvi). They're too comfortable with the millions they've already made, no need to push it to the limit.
I cannot begin to tell you how pumped Sharks fans are right now. PLAN THE PARADE BOYS
I’m a little worried about losing Blackwood at the trade deadline ngl, but if askarov can deliver it won’t be that bad. Gotta flip players to rebuild of course
@ I’d be stoked to keep him also and have both.
Surprised to see Kapanen being waived, he looked so promising at one point in his career, a great skater. Hope he findshis legs again.
He looked great at the start of the year, I think on a line with Joseph and Schenn?
Penguins waived him in 2023, after having given a first-round pick for him. He had a boost at first in St. Louis, but clearly that didn't last.
And our biggest problem is scoring. Another head scratcher when we’ve been sending out the 4th line for o zone draws late in games while trailing

Yes take kapanen
@@RobbyThomas18 Anyone else you want them take while we're at it?

Necas Not being a Star of the Week is a complete Joke!
Stats?
He had a good week. These players were better.
Matthews rarely plays a full season, so I savored his 81-game performance last year. We knew this injury stuff would come back around.
I hope they don't rush Nurse. Concussions are nasty.
Kapanen will probably be claimed by the Blue Jackets.
Load management for Matthews
Levi needed to go to Rochester, he needs to get some playing time. FYI Greenway is week to week.
Not telling a veteran like Hall, either speaks to Richardson's poor communication skills or that he's intimidated by some of his players.

Mathews is day-to-day from being day-to-day from being day-to-day

How in the world is Necas not one of the 3 stars 😂
McDavid made a call to the Big Bett
The 4 point game is awesome, but he only had 6 points last week.
The -4 against Utah probably doesn't help either
I wonder if askarov is gonna play in the NHL this week
Definitely think so, Sharks have a back to back on Wednesday and Thursday

Your body language on viel playing 4th line minutes said differently than your words. It was a bit funny
Pittsburgh sends Sullivan to Chicago for Richardson, One for one hockey trade. No salary retained.
Vasi was good in his shutout vs us (NJD) but their defense was great, too. Guarded "the house" like champs.
Levi needs to stay in Rochester for the remainder of the season. He's not NHL ready
Same thing happened with Nick Seeler for the start of the Flyers year, obviously not AS noticeable as matthews being out, but supposedly he blocked a shot in practice and it just took longer to heal than they thought it would. what they thought shouldve been one game was like 5
Mush is playing out his mind since taking the puck to the face. But plays for the Dallas Stars, and the Dallas Stars cant have the shiniest things.
Askarov please help Lalonde get fired. Greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
A frustrated Red Wings fan
Devils need to grab Kapanen. Would be solid to slap on the 4th line
I'm waiting for that kuzmenko to Washington trade to go down. Haven't heard any rumors it'd just be a cool fit imo
If Hawks fires Richardson, I hope Montreal brings him back behind the bench as assistant
Oilers defense will be improved for 5-10 days.

Dubas will pick up Kapanen

Detroit, skate those goalies on defense :-)
6:47 We need a video of all of Bedard’s different linemates 🤦♂️
For example, the Chicago blackhawks have played bedard with bertuzzi *and* teravainen for exactly 40 seconds this year.
Look for chi to hire montgomery soon
imagine if the halks fire their coach just to rehire quenneville
Are the oilers bringing anyone up to help cover? They were already down Arvidson and now Nurse is 2 big players leaving gaps in the roster
where can someone get the team sweaters on a cheaper price ?
Is askarov going to start tonight?

This is a direct result of GAMBLING
Those that need to know, know... The Team, and Vegas line makers

Goonism won't help Boston.
Bring back Coach Q
?
Seems like the Blackhawks' management kind of just assumed everything was solved when they got Bedard.
Hawks should bring back Quenneville.
Coach Q knew how to get the best out of everyone
Hawks fan here, no thanks. Hard pass on bringing anyone back from the past, don’t need the bad press when the team is already awful.
Quenneville being hired by the blackhawks would be a PR nightmare
