Imagine selling your best players literally every single year, largely to YOUR RIVALS. Vieira, CAshley Cole, Fabregas, Nasri, Clichy, Sagna, Adebayor, Toure, Hleb, Ramsey, Sanchez, van Persie, Alex Song, Vermaelen, even Henry. He did the best with what he could. Still managed to play one of the most beautiful football in Europe, churned out talent after talent for the football world, unlucky not many trophies in that time but I wouldn't change a thing going back 20 years. The new stadium was a major financial setback but it's the foundation for the more ambitious future.
Arsene has gone for the strawman. His stubbornness was the biggest factor. His primary motivation at times was to prove critics wrong - e.g., that he could win the league without a proper holding midfielder or goalkeeper. Especially between 2006 and 2011 or so, it wasn't like a full-blown overhaul was necessary. It was just a case of one or two missing parts. They win the league in 2008 with a better goalkeeper than Manuel Almunia. The only proper holding midfielder they've had since Vieira and Gilberto is Thomas Partey. There was a season that one good central defender cost them - that season that Chris Samba was mentioned a lot. I never once thought the drought was a money/investment issue. It was down to Wenger being utterly stubborn.

We're so content with "Fourth is a trophy" but we forget we should position ourselves as title contender. It hurts me because we become less competitive in the matches against other title contenders.
Many people will never understand the work involved behind the scene of rebuilding a new stadium as well in its financial burden aspect while also keeping the team afloat, if Wenger have left during the period, Arsenal will probably fall into pothole and will take very long to climb back to be even competing not mentioning clinching the title. Arsenal were lucky the league wasnt as competitive from say 2007 to 2014 when they werent spending or winning trophies, because if it was as competitive as it is now they would have been in trouble.

Cause that was the owners objectives for years, get top 4 and Wenger was guiding the club through transition. They were the 8th highest spenders between 2006-2012 and they had the best net spend out of the top 25 highest spenders in the world. That shows you what their priorities were. Arsenal really should’ve dropped out of the top 4 way sooner than they did. Even between 2013-2018 they were 5th highest spenders. So that’s 12 seasons where they were hitting above expectation on paper.

Cause that was the owners objectives for years, get top 4 and Wenger was guiding the club through transition. They were the 8th highest spenders between 2006-2012 and they had the best net spend out of the top 25 highest spenders in the world. That shows you what their priorities were.
Arsenal really should’ve dropped out of the top 4 way sooner than they did. Even between 2013-2018 they were 5th highest spenders. So that’s 12 seasons where they were hitting above expectation on paper.
@@jgunner94 that's exactly what arseanal fans have become... having this clubs' financial knowledge has become somewhat of a priority (subsconsciously i think) for the fans rather than what matters on the pitch and therefore they have been using this knowledge to cope with the failings on the pitch..

If their investment doesn’t match what fans expect, should they keep expecting the same thing and putting them on the same playing field as the likes of Chelsea, United and City at the time? Athletico’s trophy record compared to Madrid and Barca doesn’t stack up at all so surely that’s an off comparison. Arsenal won 4 FA Cups between 2014 and 2020, doesn’t mean they’re good enough to win consistent titles.
