This video of the Turkey Talk series is to learn how to put together the yelp now that you can make sounds on your mouth call. Feel free to ask any questions!
I started off the same way and called like that for years. But to really improve the sound, try and keep the tip of your tongue off the reeds. Takes practice!
For most people, including me, the high note is the hardest. To get the low note, basically lower your tongue or drop your jaw as u make the call. Hope that helps!
It's one of the toughest sounds to get, but try thinking of it like hissing like a cat. Fill your lungs with air, hold it, and let very little air out. Use your tongue to push the call to the roof of your mouth and just experiment on how hard you push it to the roof of your mouth while letting small bursts of air out. Keep at it. Hope that helps!
What call do you use? My tone doesn’t sound at all like yours is it just because of practice? I’m using an HS strut do you have other recommendations for turkey calls?
The calls I'm using there are from Zink Calls. The guy who used to make them now makes calls for Rolling Thunder. I have a hard time using any other call. Not sure why that is but I like those the best. Batwing cut
