Thanks for the music Gary, it brightened up the cold and dark winter days in 72 - 74 for a teenage lad. Also if it wasn't for you we wouldn't have had Alvin Stardust!.

very interesting Doc.....He comes over as such a "Nice" person....I am a volunteer with a hospital radio station.A few weeks ago i was going around the wards collecting requests and one old chap said.."Have u got any Gary Glitter"...? I said, really ?..That`s unusual ? He said..i know about his crimes, but he was a great entertainer and i loved his shows.Anyhow, after getting permission from the Station chairman,i played Rock N Roll part 2 as the last record on the show....Incidentally watched that Doc/Drama.."The execution of Gary Glitter" the other day.I read the real Paul Gadd tried to get that being shown stopped on tv,due to it being bad taste.Anyhow....Just my ramblings..Great music,so sad/dreadful he did what he did.Guessing he`d be in his 80`s now ?

Lifelong gary glitter fan, seen him twice in the 80s and also seen the glitter band who i met after the gig, great guys john springate and Gerry shephard (RIP). Disappointed for the band that they had to suffer the fallout from the scandal which they had nothing to do with and which finished their careers

Gary Glitter Finds True Love with 23 year old Mary Melldy”… Says the nice headline here! 23 is a good age, perfectly fine Gaz. If only Gaz had a thing for 23 year old women - instead of ….. well we know the sad and horrible story…..

Its difficult to understand now the sexual wonderland of the 1970s. It was period in which a large number of people came of age in an era of sexual liberation. They all wanted some and they desperately wanted to shake off the stale dreary world of their parents. Unfortunately there were many older men who misused their power and influence to exploit naive younger people. Gary was such a one. But there is no doubting the Glitterband power and aura.

As I just tried to explain in a comment, everyone has a sexual kink that is expressed behind closed doors ,some only in the mind and shared with no one , there is most certainly a separation between art and the sexualities aspect of men/women, we don't know what floats jk Rowling's boat, unless she was caught doing reprehensible things that isn't to suggest she actually does have any any worse than any others of us, most of ours doesn't stem into the realms of criminality. But as the example you wouldn't look at Harry potter and judge it upon her perversions (had she have any) or equally be disgusted by the story of Alice in wonderland despite the very real fact that Carrol groomed 3 sisters one of whom was Alice and the story was ACTIVELY part of that grooming only coming into existence because of his sexual attraction to Alice liddle. At 12 he was painting her semi nude in his studio and sending her love notes declaring his admiration and love of her many qualities he found desirable. This man's perversions (because his kinks went further into criminality) fuelled his art in this occasion. Of course we all see and know this to be utterly condemnable and reprehensible, disgusting and he should have been criminally persuade, but would we cast Alice in wonderland into the same hole as him when he was caught(tho never prosecuted or brought before a magistrate) it's a strange thing to make comparison because the two do not come together in most instances , such is the separation..now however if that art were the perversion of course we would condemn that also , such as his paintings of the nude Alice at 12 even tho all these yrs later historians find great merit in that painting..it's a strange thing. But if the art does not encapsulate the perversion then should it be condemned .as stated it's such a line that even when it is they are finding merit in that also..personally I condemn such but there should be separation in a case such as this, even tho one could argue some of the songs lyrics could be seen to reflect such kinks .the do you want to touch me there being glaring ..it's very complicated isn't it.
