Yes it's the afterlife. It's not about taking revenge. Jolin wanted to be a police when the guy's a "criminal" involved in drug transactions. Jolin hoped her man could quit that industry but they were both poor even couldn't afford the rent... Jolin wore police custom and organized a birthday party surprise for her man. When Jolin came in, she saw her man was taking drugs...(but he wasn't it was just the guy's friends did maybe) Jolin felt mad and left her man. I guess maybe gangsters related to drug transactions accidentally misunderstood Jolin as police but she was just the guy's gf to celebrate with him. The triad killed Jolin and her man afterward... That's why Jolin asked her man "Why can I see you here (in the afterlife)?". This's a tragic romantic story... Maybe my analysis's not that comprehensive but hope it'll help you understand more abt this MV :)
