    This a great video for hand headlight restoring!. Would be acceptable to use a paste wax aswell instead of ceramic? I know ceramic is better, but just to know your opinion. And how many sand papers of each grade you use in the process or per headlight?

    Is there any specific type of description, feature, or anything you're looking for when looking for ceramic coating for headlights? Thank you.

    I wouldn't worry too much about the paint of the car. My car have many many scratches. The headlight have many more, but the headlights are important... so some treatment will do it well...

    Hi, nice vid. Any reason why you not use a machine for the process? Is that because of scratching for you? Is the ceramic coating the same as a headlight spray, how long does is last and why you prefer that over it? Thanks

    After some trials I ended doing just the abrasive paste polish by hand and I was satisfied. I could not even get close to the result the guy on the video with his 1500 before polishing. The haziness with my 5000 (the trial I did) was greater than the one in the video with the 1500. What do you people think. Any suggestion or idea is well accepted.
    Best DIY to all of you.

      @Amddetailing  Рік тому +1

      you have to remove all the burnt protection to get a good result, and you can't do that with that granulation, you have to use a rougher method, eg paper 400, etc.
      There are several videos on my channel about it

    Nice work. Does hand sanding with dry paper leave sanding marks on the headlight that will be visible after polishing?

    • @naughtymaster16
      @naughtymaster16 Рік тому +2

      If you do it properly by sanding from smaller number and gradually increasing the sand paper size then it'll be fine looking at the end, apparently after polishing by hand/ orbital polisher.

      Do you suggest to restore any headlights with dry hand sanding with the the same grits as you did?what is the name of the kovakx kit that you use there?i can see large variation of grits there.
      I know that when you finish to restore somthing it looks like new but im curious if do you get holograms in the end of the sanding process with out the polishing and the ceramic coat?
      I restore headlights they look greay but when the lighys are on you can see holograms.
      Thank you for this awesome video.

    I worked down from 600 to 800, 1000, 1500, 2000, 3000 by hand & then a machine polish with a compound & refined with a polish. The lights look fine from a distance, but if you check with a inspection lamp there is many many scratches left from the sanding stage. Realy took my time on each grit & polishing tough. I had to put pressure in the 600 stage to get the old clear coat of, could that be the issue? Or do I need a more agressive compound polishing pad? How doe I solve this?

    • @Amddetailing
      @Amddetailing  5 місяців тому

      paper marks remain, you work without pressure and sand in one direction, and each subsequent paper is longer than the previous one

    The problem I encounter with 3m sandpaper is when I dry sand it's like you use it for ten seconds then because of the residues it doesn't work anymore as aggressive as it did when the sandpaper was new and then you'll need to work very hard to have the abrasiveness of the first seconds of use..
    Well sh*t

    • @keithroberts5611

      It could be your pushing to hard? I recommend anyone who is a first time retoreing headlights is to aquire a 3M restoration kit, Reason is 3m takes the guess work out of which grit size to use, Moreover there's only 3 steps of sanding p500 p800 p3000 trizact magic pad, with tap water, 3m instructions are fool proof!!!

    Why only charge 100 euros? Is there a reason for flat rate charging on this type of job?

    • @Amddetailing
      @Amddetailing  Рік тому

      there is a reason why some things don't change

    • @MichaelBrianInc
      @MichaelBrianInc Рік тому

      @@Amddetailing Sorry I’m not understanding your response. Are you saying because this type of job, the processes don’t change and majority of the headlights are roughly the same so that’s why you charge a flat rate? Am I understanding you?
      I notice here in the states at least, many charge differently. Some charge a flat rate, some quote based on the specs of the vehicle and headlight condition, and others charge a percentage based on how much replacement lights would cost.

    Why dry sanding? Wet sanding isn't that effective?

    • @keithroberts5611
      @keithroberts5611 Рік тому +2

      Wet sanding double's the time to restore headlights as wet sanding acts like a lubricant and slows down surface removal furthermore it obscures visible damage to the lens,

      The Ceramic coating is the new clear as it’s a protection. You can use a sealant after, but preferred methods are coating or a PPF (clear film)

    There is no factory protection.
    If the factory protection was there, they wouldn’t need to be restored, You know, like when they were NEW and had the, factory protection.
    Lol.
