I'm 37, got my bike when I was 29. Bought it 2 days before Christmas at Panhead City in Rome GA. Rode it home to Houston and spent 9 months taking it apart and rebuilding it. New bikes are a hell of a lot easier to ride, trust me I've rode them. Fuel injection means never having to choke it on cold mornings or having to blip the throttle to keep it running till it warms up or having to change jest and retune in the mountains. Brakes are a lot better now. 6 speed transmissions and it's not just the extra gears, the clunk is gone. The old 4 speed 3rd gear whine that you never get rid of cause 3rd is steel on steel. This is basic stuff, I'm not even talking about the creature comforts on the dressers now like gps and Bluetooth, and MP3 players. It's not that new bikes aren't technologically advanced and a whole lot more comfortable, and I'm not saying there's no such thing as a high mileage twin cam. What I'm saying is how well will it age. I can still do a top end job on the shovelhead with the motor in the frame with nothing but hand tools. Everything is easily serviced on the old bikes because back then they had to be. I wonder how well those fuel injection systems and computers will be working in 40 years. Or maybe we'll all be in flying cars by then. Anyway, not trying to come off like a bike snob. Most of the folks I know ride newer bike which makes sense cause mines so old. Enjoy what you've got, maintain it, and we'll see how long it lasts. A lot of folks didn't think much of Shovels back then. The pan guys thought they were too new fangled, the Evo guys thought they were obsolete technology. Mines still one the road though thank God.

I love how you make your videos. No pointless yapping like 97% of youtubers would do. You have motorcycles (well mostly) and you show motorcycles only and how they sounds. Great way!

Why are we arguing with H-D lovers over which Gen. is best. I still have my 1976 FLH Liberty Edition, I plan to fully restore it when I retire. I enjoy my 2004 Road King Classic. They are two very different animals for sure, that's what makes them so unique.

LS1 Corvette fan. You sure are quick to name drop those clubs. Did you let any of them know you were going to use their clubs names in your post to try to give it some weight? That's a big no-no, at least where I come from. Oh, by the way, you never actually said anything about the point I made in the last comment. Will all those twin can bikes be around in 40 years. I'm in Texas, just outside of Houston. If anyone wants to come tell me anything I'm pretty easy to find.

I guess money talks. I'd never sell my shovel FLH to anyone, especially not to have it shipped overseas never to return. Pretty soon there won't be any old bikes left around here. Then what'll you do?

The new bikes are 1000 times better than that old jalopy. Sell your shovel FLH and go buy a real bike a 2015 Street Glide or Road Glide.

To the guy that posted a reply to my comment saying I should get rid of my old FLH and get a Street Glide or Road Glide, I think your comment may have been deleted for stupidity but I still felt I had to reply. There are many reasons I would never get rid of my old FLH. Most of those reasons are personal and wouldn't make a whole lot of sense to most people. I can give you 3 reasons though in simple terms so that you can understand. First, I own my bike. Free and clear with no liens or debt. The bank doesn't own my bike, I don't make payments on my bike. 99% of folks don't buy a Street Glide or Road Glide, they finance it. I own mine, why get rid of it to then go into debt to ride something I don't even own free and clear. Second, my bike is 37 years old and I still ride to work every day plus take at least one long trip every summer, around 2k miles round-trip each trip the last 3 years. Do you think those fuel injected computer controlled garbage wagons you want me to get rid of my FLH for will even be here in 40 years? With shitty cam chain tensioners, cheap bearings, lifter blocks cast in to the case? Twin Cam bikes aren't built for longevity. Third. Modern Harleys, especially the big dressers and softails but Dynas too, (just look at the switchback FLD), are all about mimicking the old harleys. About looking like the real thing while being modern, conforming to governmental regulation, and being easy to ride for posers who have nothing better to do than drop 25k for a road glide CVO and a pirate suit so they can cosplay as a "real biker". I'd rather ride the real thing. I'd rather be imitated than imitate, that's just me.

Jake Daniel I can agree with everything you said except that the new twin cam is junk my buddy has 327,000 miles on a 2006 Night Train 88 cubic inch twin cam it's only had one rebuild the rod bearing wore down at 130,000 oil pressure dropped dangerously low a new Timken bearing, oem top end rebuild she's alive and well. My dad's buddy has the same mentality as you he has a 74 FLH he refuses to buy a new bike I have ridden his bike once with no desire to ever ride it again the power felt anemic at best the four speed made me really appreciate my six speed as far as bikes being financed you're absolutely correct I bought a pre owned 2007 Electra Glide Classic with 6,000 miles on it last year for $12,500 after the $1500 dollar five year warranty tax title and license fees I ended up financing my bike it cost me $230 a month for five years I honestly don't mind the payment I love the bike so much that when I send in a payment the only thought on my mind is one less payment until it's free and clear. I hear that all the time that the new bikes are easier to ride????? I don't get it they are all the same I have ridden plenty of older bikes it's all the same the only difference being the new bikes are faster and more stable at high speeds making them easier to rack up miles on them fast and actually use them instead of being garage ornaments like most older bikes. as far as playing cosplay I respect anyone on two wheels because they put their life in the same amount of danger as anyone else regardless if they are on a jap bike or american. I'm going to assume you're older way older like 50+ don't live your life so set in your ways don't be afraid of a payment jump on a 2007 or newer street glide or Road Glide and rack up thousands of miles enjoy the six speed 96 cubic inch or 103 whatever you go with you will truly enjoy.

Don't know why you're asking if the cats got my tongue, LS1. I replied two days ago. I'm not in my 50s and I've ridden new bikes before. Read my post.
