He played James Brown just as excellent as Denzel Washington played Malcolm X. They both should have won an Oscar for both of these films. Chadwick Boseman in particular was the Reincarnation of James Brown. He was unbelievable in this movie. Great actor
Such a powerful ending to this movie. Finally admitted to his friend that he meant so much to him and he did need him in his life. This was his apology. So good.
It’s heartbreaking to know that both Nelsan Ellis and now Chadwick Boseman are deceased. Both of them were great actors and taken from us way to soon. RIP to the both of them.
I love how it progressed from him as a kid chanting ‘James Brown’ (showing it starts with YOU: belief in yourself, etc) to the preacher to the choir to people throughout his life to the whole audience of thousands of people... that was beautiful It starts with you. You need to be your number 1 fan first. You see the super star no one else sees until you materialize it and bring the star to life... and that’s what James Brown did. Truly a legend and one of the greats.
I always got on my mother's nerves because I have always been her only overly emotional child. As soon as this scene came on as usual i getting a little weepy she looked at me and smiled. She recently passed and i cant even get through this scene at all for some reason.
I literally cry every time I see this scene. James Brown meant so much to my step dad who passed away before this movie was released. He used to dress like him and everything. That walk to the stage literally broke me down
Loved the movie..Chadwick knocked it out park!! I watch it every time it’s on. Whatever idiot rated it C must have no idea what a treasure his music is still today💕..Chadwick Bozeman is fantastic actor..class act.
The love I have for James Brown is unmeasureable. I'm 70 and danced so many times on this song. When people danced together. Some will never know. It's the best feeling in the world to me. And went to a lot of his shows in Philly. Chadwick played him to death, they picked the right one to play him, God rest them both I loved them.
Chadwick Boseman played this part. I had seen this movie when it was first released and was impressed with his performance. I think this is some of his best work although he is known for being Black Panther. Looking at this scene again I just can't believe how amazingly talented this guy was and now he is gone. That walk alone should have gotten him an Oscar. He had James Brown's mannerisms down also. I am really going to miss this brilliant man. The world has lost a truly amazing artist. RIP CHADWICK BOSEMAN. Rest well sweet King.
The only - I repeat, the ONLY - musical biopic I have seen in recent times that succeeded this much. Of course Boseman is a big reason, but he's not the only one. The daring and heart and humor the film has. And it's still so underappreciated! The opening and closing scenes alone...brilliant.
Chadwick Boseman (1976 - 2020) - thank you for sharing and displaying your phenomenal talents! This scene is Oscar worthy all on its own! You will always be remembered and never forgotten. 🖤 🙌🏽
This scene...but James Brown still had a tight hand on the band. All eyes on him when he turned and signal to stop ...they did without even thinking. 🔥🔥🔥
S ann Palmer he wasnt lip syncing he had to learn to do the vocals, and how to dance... from scratch. if you listen to the records and him, you can definitely hear the difference it's subtle but sure.
Christopher Rogers he was lip syncing, you can find the songs from the movie on spotify. If you listen to the difference of this version of try me and the one on spotify you won't find no difference.
mano tc yes, you will, they made him study the lyrics and vocals of the songs, he is lip syncing but he is actually the one singing, he just could sing and dance well at the same time. but he did indeed sing, you can look up the song all you want. but you won't find it, an A capella version. this was never recorded on telivision before, just accounts of it are available from Bobby byrd himself.
mano tc every rendition of james' songs in this movie have differences in the vocals, one video (look this up, just so you belrice me) compared the Tami show in the movie to the one in real life. the Mic doesnt even allow the same distorted sound to come through, the only way to stop the distortion is by re doing it. you'll find it quite facsinating
Nominated, yes. And then he should have won. I don't know what could be harder than playing someone everyone knows this well. If that's not acting, I don't know what is.
If anyone has ever experienced real struggle I life...or a loss. Sometimes you wish you can express that emotion like Chadwick knocking this scene out of the park.
Man I just heard of Nelsans passing.. I am fortunate enough to have survived addiction, I am in recovery with 160 days clean, wish you had made it Mr. Ellis, RIH
Stone Cold stay strong brother. Gods love is all around you everyday. Use that shield to stand tall and be the amazing man your loved ones need in there life. When ever you feel tempted remember drugs will give you a temporary high but the holy ghost is already inside of you. When you want to get high raise your hands up in the air shout our father's name. He will respond trust me.
My brother just passed and I miss him so much. I pray and yet feel lost . He was a year older but like a father figure. Harry I love you brother, see you when I see you.
Chadwick shined as usual and he is so humble. Although he is a big star I message him and told him I loved his performance. He responded...'thank you". I will never erase this message. 😊

This is good movie but, if you know James, you know they left a great deal out. They never really showed how deep his relationship was with Byrd or what Byrd meant to James success. Byrd more or less discovered James. Right after the scene with his mother, this was the deepest scene of the movie. I played it at least 10 times back to back.
Watched this movie for the first time yesterday & this scene made me emotional. I never realized how much of an impact this movie made. Chadwick Boseman definitely knocked this out of the park. So talented. Rest easy to both legends 🕊️
rip chadwick, 1 of the greatest scenes in current cinematic history

Absolutley true one of the greatest in the cinematic history
This was my introduction to Mr. Chadwick Boseman... a legend playing a legend...this scene to end the movie.... perfect... rest in peace
💯💪🏾
Really thought this was Mr. Brown at times 😂😂🤷🏾
He did James justice. That walk. The mannerisms. His voice.. Omg.. James Brown personified to the actual power..
He played James Brown just as excellent as Denzel Washington played Malcolm X. They both should have won an Oscar for both of these films. Chadwick Boseman in particular was the Reincarnation of James Brown. He was unbelievable in this movie. Great actor
My favorite movie by him 😊
Yes he did!!!!!
They could've done his sweat with CGI to make it more authentic. Well ya know, real James brown always sweating a lot.
Yasss! That walk
This man was robbed of a Oscar nom....end of story
Hold on he didn't get one?
Yes he was point blank
He might the best character of this generation

I Definitely Agree. Nobody Can Immatate And Dance Like James Brown Like Chadwick Boseman He Will Definitely Be Missed So Much.
A legend portraying an icon. Glad i was alive to see it.

Just heard the news. Boseman was stellar in his roles, especially that of James Brown. Rest easy, man.
That walk through that tunnel with the flashbacks was absolutely beautiful
He did an awesome job in this movie, no one could've done it better
Krishan Mohan He killed it playing Brown.
bosede aka Ikale Sunflower I disagree...he even got the look down pack..the walk ...almost everything

James was one of, if not the greatest artists of the 20th century.
He was The Godfather of soul music
Not only was he the King of Soul , he also wrote and sang the most beautiful love ballad of all time !
This scene...but James Brown still had a tight hand on the band. All eyes on him when he turned and signal to stop ...they did without even thinking. 🔥🔥🔥
The saddest fact is Chad who played Mr. Brown, had join Nelsan who played Mr. Byrd to be up there as Legends.
Rest In Peace both Legend.🙏🏽

R.I.P Mr. Chadwick Boseman. I love this part of the movie.
This actor that play James Brown did a phenomenal job! No way u could tell he was lip syncing (Great acting everyone)
