  • In this video I show you how a hammerform can create incredibly complex metal shapes. This works for all kinds of metalworking, including armoring, automotive work, and in this case, replica movie prop production. This is a cowl section for the center of one of my all aluminum Rocketeer Jetpacks. Jay Jarvie from @BuilderCreator gave me a hand with this project. Be sure to subscribe to his channel at / @buildercreator

      Thanks for helping make my dream prop come true, Jay!! Dave led me to your channel through this build and, as a car guy myself, your work is truly inspiring! THANK. YOU.

    Okay.... that guy's skill set is absolutely god tier. Bucks a whole car, tons of bodywork, makes molds, fabricates, designs his own trans bellhousing adapters, welds and builds his own custom exhaust, BUILDS HIS OWN MUFFLERS FROM SCRATCH, and the other 57 things he does.
    What the hell..... who is this guy.

    Alex steel is making your gothic gauntlet. It's pretty cool to see youtube recognition, and it would be aweso.e if y'all could get an official collaberation going. You both are very talented metal workers.

    Word of advice from a sheet metal worker... get red and green offset aviation snips. It makes a world of difference cutting around curves and you won't have so many fish hooks

    An armor that I would love to see is the full metal alchemist, Edward's arm and leg. Great work

    Get you some right and left offset snips. You can make continuous cuts without stopping or making relief cuts. Throw those yellow handled ones away. They're good for notching and that's about it. Malco makes some good ones and I've used those for years, but they're make in Taiwan. If you want US made go for Wiss or Midwest. Been using Midwest for the last few years and they're good for the price. I mainly cut 24g-26g steel, .027 and .032 aluminum, and 16oz copper with them and they last at least a year with every day use.

      I saw a video Ron Covell did saying basically the same thing. I have meant to get a set of those since.

      Oh that's just the nature of UA-cam. I imagine the main people disliking videos are kids who thought they were clicking on something video game related and didn't get what they thought they were coming for haha

    If you anneal the work piece before forming you will most likely avoid cracks

      @matameh Рік тому

      Hi James, is it true, maybe he used a very thin metal sheet or it doesn't matter, the part must always be annealed. regards

    You said you would let us know how to get all your templates precut from sendcutsend. Are you still planning on doing that? If not, do i have to fax them my temple? I had a digital one once but lost it. All i have is a paper copy.

      I was able to borrow a plastic jetpack cast from one of the original props. I did a lot of measuring and fitting contour gauges to be able to reproduce the part nearly exactly

    You don't get the audience you deserve for this stuff. It blows my mind how amazing the stuff you make looks, and there are videos of people with paint on a string getting a billion views.
    The only possible reason is that your stuff is TOO good looking. It seems impossible, despite the video showing it isn't.
    Try using the word COSPLAY in your titles, if possible. That shit is pretty hot right now.
