Thanks for the upload. Nowadays, there is always some kind of excuse as to DET’s style of play as the excuse for why CHI couldn’t beat DET, but your videos shows that DET was simply a superior team.
As a Bulls fan and a long time NBA fan, the reasonable fan in me can validate that the Pistons were the better team in 1988, 1989 ans 1990. While I didn't appreciate some of the non basketball plays, I thought the Pistons played great team basketball. They found the hot hand on offense every game and played terrific team defense and were well coached. At the time, I believed they should have beaten the Celtics in 1987 even if they probably don't beat the Lakers in the Finals that year. In 1988, the Pistons were ripped off by the officials at the end of Game 6 with a terrible foul call against Laimbeer. Pistons had a great run and really could have three-peated between 1988 and 1990. The teams were stacked: Isiah Thomas, Joe Dumars, Rodman, Aguirre/Dantley, Edwards, Laimbeer, Salley, Mahorn, Vinne Johnson. Good players who all knew their roles. Miss the basketball from those days.
Bulls definitely could have beaten them in 1990. MJs teammates went cold. In game 7, Scottie Pippen was 1-10, Horace Grant was 3-17, Bill Cartwright was 3-9, B.J. Armstrong was 1-8. John Paxson missed this game due to injury.
1989 MJ groin, Pippen elbowed helped. 1990 hurting MJ hip and groin helped, along with Pippen getting a migraine. But after 91 ECF, until 2002, Pistons never won a series again, and Bulls 3 peated two times. So those 3 series lost, were worth it in the end for chi.
Dallas Aguirre went 7 games with 1988 lakers in Conf finals, same as Pistons did 1988 finals, with Dantley, Isiah, Rodman, Dumars, Salley, Mahorn, Laimbeer, Microwave. Pistons players had way more accolades, experience, than all the bulls except Jordan, 1988-90, & even 1991.
This man is a hall of famer. He operated this game largely against Pippin. He dove out of bounds to (damn near) save a possession, to the internal (not external) delight of his head coach. On a broader spectrum, this team beats anyone in todays game without any question. Todays players wouldn’t know what to do with a Mark Aguirre or these Detroit Pistons .
You see the timing, passing, patience of the Pistons mentality, even Salley not forcing the shot, getting the ball to Aguirre, everyone on the same page offensively and Aguirre producing..... The unselfishness of Thomas after him having a huge game 2 leading the Pistons to win, he comes in knowing how to play chess, as opposed to point guards like today who DO NOT play chess. Sad part is the Pistons lost this game, should have won but then won the last 3 to win the series 4-2.
@@rew2949 Yeah, this is something people don't realize about The Bad Boys, they were all one and united in their purpose; you need intelligent men on the court knowing who is who and what is what, everyone knowing their role and doing their portion and the only thing that mattered is the win, not who had the most points, steals, or assists -- you couldn't get on the court if you were selfish.
Shoot from 3, post-up, face the basket, on the run, he could and did score from anywhere, anyhow. Hall of Fame easily, so much better than Sam,pson, White, Monroe, Bradley, Ming,..... Add in his college and HS honours and he's a way overdue lock.
I can't believe how stupid this comment is. Isiah was literally the most valuable player and leader every year he was in Detroit, including and especially the 3 years he LED the Pistons to 3 straight finals and back 2 back titles. I don't agree with cancel culture, but some of y'all should outright be banned from expressing opinions on basketball for the world to see smh
Mark Aguirre had a inside/outside game. And when he was hot he was 🔥🔥man!

Det had a way better team. The bulls had bench players, and rookies, that were developing, and Jordan was still developing.

His release is so FN QUICK.

Brilliant commentary and analysis
