Best video about cosplay I have ever seen. If I lived in the US I'd totally like to meet Ger and congratulate her on the book idea, both as a cosplayer and just as a person.
I love it. For the last decade I've seen cosplay and such become more like a popularity contest. However most of those who started from the bottom with intense passion and love of the culture are still some of the best human beings I've ever known. Every culture just like people comes with its haters and people who won't understand.
Such passion! You inspired me (and others I'm sure) to keep pushing myself to the next level in terms of cosplay work! :) Everything stated is what cosplay's about! Great video.
The comment about extreme football fans being the same as cosplayers. I've been saying that for years, and it makes me happy to hear someone else saying the same thing.
I'm gonna be honest, here. This gave me hope for my next cosplay. See, I'm going to cosplay Applejack for the new MLP:FiM movie showing, and I've been scared to do it... When I did my first cosplay (Temari - Naruto), I got some real flack. I was called fat, and pretty much everyone ridiculed my costume and said that I was one of the worst they've ever seen... And since then, I've been afraid to cosplay as anyone because of my weight and all that. You have me hope. ;w; You make cosplay worth it
finally!! ive only been cosplaying for 2 years and i love it! but im quite chunky so i have confidence issues ^^' i personally think that cosply is helping me with my confidence and i want everyone to understand us and not make fun ^^ soooo yeah (im on my phone so if ive spelt all that wrong im sorry i cant check xD) xxxxxx
LOVE the video! Really! I love that she's talking about the fact that you don't have to look like the character or that it doesn't matter if you're "too fat" to cosplay that character. I've always been very overweight and really short, I am also a girl. But that has never stopped me from cosplaying both male and female characters, most of them very tall and thin. I'm not doing it for other people, I'm doing it for myself. Because I love doing it!
They chose what to show, but they didn't show all the work that she has done. Go check out her work on other social media websites, she photographs all sorts of people.
Also, even though I'm quite big I've never got any hate from people, instead they are complimenting my cosplay/choice of character or even want pictures! And it makes me very happy, I love doing it :)
Yeah she is right people always might have negative anwser. but they dont have to wear it we will do that. Dear you did a great thing and i will always cosplay too.
She'll definitely get backlash from the cosplay community (especially on the topic of giving justice to the character you cosplay), but I'm proud of the message she's trying to convey,
Do it! Oh my god and then I wanna see photos! And I hope my very first handmade cosplay will be good, because I'm so called "fat" and I don't wanna care anymore!
I agree with what Ger Tysk says about people of all different forms e.g. body, disability, looks and personally it shouldn't matter cosplay is about expressing yourself not about the character
Remember when we we're kids? and we used to portray characters from our favorite cartoon/ TV shows using newspaper hats, twigs, blankets or anything we can use or wear and we didn't care how other people looked at us while we we're having fun? that's simply cosplay why stop having that kind of fun when we grow old?
Nice profile video. [woodworking nerd alert] Setup your table-saw with featherboards & use a pushstick. I know..I know.. but my buddy just about lost his entire thumb this weekend on his and I think you'd do better work with all your digits in place. For lathework, I'd suggest a full face shield (not glasses) and an apron to keep the chips outta your shirt. Keep up the good work...
the metaphorical tall black man who like kawaii things isn't hurting anyone so let him go about his buisness as he likes. He's not offending anyone and he's contributing.
This series is the best thing being done on any gaming site. It's not even close. Well done Polygon.
This is awesome Thank you. This has made me love cosplaying even more and reminding me the importance of it :)

The art direction for this documentary is beautiful! *O*
what a lovely person she is. I don't care much about cosplay honestly but she has an amazing energy.

Great vid!
Cool!
Thank You For This....Thank You...
mad skills
does anyone know who the twewy cosplayers are, specifically the rhyme one? I'm being rhyme soonish and you know...questions to ask.
This was made in 2013 so does anyone know if she actually made the book and if so where can I buy it.
anyone know what the song used at the end is?
I think there on some limits to what someone should cosplay. For example, a tall, African American man shouldn't cosplay a pig-tailed, blonde loli.
the metaphorical tall black man who like kawaii things isn't hurting anyone so let him go about his buisness as he likes. He's not offending anyone and he's contributing.

since when did cosplayers become a race or a guilty pleasure?
The world ends with you *-*
It seems everything has nothing to do with cosplay.
Thank you
