Awesome video! Just wondering how you stay energized with no high water content fruit and veggies. I can’t live without a high amount of fruit, changes my runs drastically! Anyway, great job bro!
Awesome video sage! I just wanted to Thankyou for consistently posting so much inspiring content- because of you I’ve really gotten into trail running. Some of the videos I have found most inspiring of yours was your training for and competing at Tarawera Ultramarathon in Rotorua (I love about 45minutes from Rotorua!)! I’m running the 50km next weekend and it’ll be my first ultra and all because of you! Thanks Sage!!
That Mississippi Blonde beer from Bent River Brewing is like 5 mins from my house lol. Crazy to see that pop up in a video like this. It’s definitely a popular one in my area - hope you enjoyed it!
I’m a big fan of the Camelbak vest and use it myself. I notice a number of ultras you’ve used handhelds for rather than the vest. Is that just a race by race decision? Spring energy Canaberry also working well for me!
@@MilesBe I also wondered whether pro / elite runners are given exception to usual kit list requirements as they’d typically finish far ahead of amateur runners.
@@DanRuns No, pro/elite runners are not given exceptions on gear requirements...I've never seen or experienced that in a race. We have to carry everything just like everybody else (just like we have to have all the points to qualify for UTMB etc). A lot of times I go with what's lightest and I'm very comfortable running with a 0.5 L handheld so I think it's the fastest...especially with switching out bottles at aid stations on the fly. Usually when I do that I have a belt on as well to carry extra gear/gels etc. Otherwise a pack is usually needed. Basically all US races (ultras) have no gear requirements anyway.
I supplement with vitamin B12. I think (in my opinion) a lot of athletes (regardless of diet) can be slightly low on B12 because of how much they push their body.
so it worth checking your levels (i.e. I use Athlete Blood test panels....I'm sponsored by them), but staying on top of all these health metrics and vitamin levels is important. Consult your doctor before trying anything new (legal disclaimer).
Great video as always....maybe you could change the background music style a bit. It's a bit penetratingly upbeat synthetic....? Just my opinion... Don't attack me...!
what kind of music would you like? I like upbeat. Generally we try to match the mood of the run or have something light in the background without lyrics. The music selection is always tough because of royalties/copyright (i.e. I can't use mainstream music or popular songs).
@@Vo2maxProductions I understand, I guess that limits the choices. I had some suggestions but actually yes they would also be copyright protected. No worries - maybe it was just this one that irritated me :)
As a mountain lion I feel offended. I am not watching you from the cave, I am in my mansion! I have WiFi here. It’s time for you to open your eyes and stop being speciesist. You think you are vegan you can trash talk mountain lions? ROAR
Sage always be kitted out like a super hero for his runs
Admire your simple, healthy, happy life. Thanks Sage.
Thanks for recognizing Girls and Women in Sports Day!

Beautiful scenery, I'm jealous ! 😉
That was a great video!
The Speedgoat is my favorite trail running shoe, i have 4 different versions (4, 4GTX, highGTX, EVO) right now. It is fun and grippy.
I love the EVO, probably my favorite shoe, but I feel like it's significantly softer/more cushioned compared to other speedgoats. Just in my head?
@@enkidu2562 EVO is lighter and the upper is quite a bit different than other Speedgoat versions (probably my favorite as well!)
I love my Hoka Speedgoats!!

Do you eat any junk like crisps ( potato chips) sweets or cake?
Hi Sage, great content. Do you seem to get enough B12 from the nutritional yeast, or do you also supplement with a vitamin?
I supplement with vitamin B12. I think (in my opinion) a lot of athletes (regardless of diet) can be slightly low on B12 because of how much they push their body.

Music in intro is way too loud - I'd like to hear what the guy is saying.
I think Sage has a severe waffle addiction.
