tbh, the Club isn't really a great replacement for the Sky Lounge in terms of activities or as a night spot for dancing. It's more confining, darker, less airy and just looks more like a middle-level club than an upscale one. Celebrity really tried hard to condense everything into this area or the Martini Bar or Eden rather than spread things out like they did in the Solstice or Millennium (or earlier) ships.
I'm not enamored with this class of ship because as I look at the NCL Prima, Silversea Silver Nova and some other contemporary ships they're almost interchangeable inside with one another in some ways. The Eden area is unique but not this area or the Grand plaza or the Retreat spaces. The ship needed that observation lounge to spread things out rather than the more enclosed vertical spaces for activities, nightlife. But it needs more and varied social spaces and more Celebrity character.
Benjamin, you seem like a veteran cruiser. Thank you for providing your insight. Where does Celebrity fall on your favorite cruise lines list?
@@TravelVida It was my favorite when they had the Century class ships and focused on MDR food and presentation as well as providing a quieter cruise. I feel now they're trying to expand and change the product and go away from what they've established. Businesses must adapt to market changes but I feel HAL and Princess have kept truer to their brands that what Celebrity is doing. And I dislike the Retreat area or Havens or such having exclsuive suite passenger areas that take up a substantial amount of the ship. Some passengers just take the lower priced cabins to spend their money elsewhere and I really don't need a large stateroom as I don't spend much time in it.
I still like Celebrity but they are trying to go away from their core. I like HAL, Princess, some aspects of Cunard and feel that for group and family cruises Royal Caribbean and NCL work well.
Hmm. First time on your video. I thought the production quality was excellent, however your piece came across as a Celebrity Cruise lines "puff piece." You made everything sound perfect. I realize that there is alot of "good stuff" going on on on this ship, however, is it all "perfect?" I need to seek out a better "fair and balanced" video.
Great feedback Fred. I don’t work for Celebrity and there was truly nothing to complain about but we will seek better balance. Appreciate the feedback. Keep in mine this is a pre-inaugural event so revenue sailings will be different than what I experienced.
@@TravelVida Wow… impressed at your quick response! I think you videos should take a more “Switzerland” approach as Celebrity “nickels and dimes” its passengers with its restaurants and excursions. I priced out doing a Celebrity Cruise next summer versus al “all included” Oceania or Regent Seven Seas. For just a “little bit more money” you can “upgrade” away from Celebrity onto smaller ship. I am an avid cruiser, and am “intrigued” at Celebrity’s Concierge and/or Aqua Class suites, however, I am not impressed what what I have seen so far. I also think your videos should discuss the “dining charges” at Celebrity’s “specialty restaurants” which their website refuses to disclose and I believe run from $35 to as much as $75 or more per person.
@@fredwallace9292 They cut a lot of good areas from previous ships out of this class of ship. And, they also have much. more "class division" on this ship with this whole retreat section being off limits to those not in suites. And yes, for a bit more than what some suite passengers pay, you can get a better quality cruise from other lines.
Bigger is less exclusive and more mainstream in cruising. This ship is considered mid-sized now, but it's actually a large ship with very few social spaces that aren't specialty restaurants or shops or spas or other revenue enhancing areas. Similar ships this size offer more in terms of spaces to mingle, mix and to enjoy various activities.
