How would that have helped?? Literally NONE of the Japanese names HAVE an L in them, being...y'know, Japanese. And 90% of them have English names that, if were even pronounced with L's as R's, sound nothing like the Japanese names still. .......So how would knowing that have helped at all??

Just notes on the pronounciation: • All es are pronounced, there are no silent es in Japanese, for example Churine is chu-ree-neh • Ao is pronounced like ow • Double letters make a small pause before so Mimikkyuu is like mee-mee kyuu Mostly the pronounciation was pretty good though 👍

Evoli isn't inspired by the japanese name, it's just "evolution" which is what it's name really is in every langue roughly..it's why the Eeveelutions end in "eon" in english (evolution takes time..like an eon! Okay.. I'll just say this as someone who's favorite pokemon is Skuntank. Skuntank's best ability if you could give it anything would probably be levitate, giving it no weakness, and Skuntank is a physical attacker. Seeing nasty plot on it made me sad.

Well, that's more accurately a Cajun bastardization of the _actual_ French word, loup-garou. But, yeah, "Lugarugan" is pretty clearly referencing the loup-garou. It's even typically romanized with an initial "L" instead of an "R" (since Japanese uses the same sound for both).
I have a idea you can do a challenge with randomized starters but you can only choose pokemon of one side. Like if you choose left you have to choose all left side starters.

Straight in the beginning, as a Japanese person, you didn't crush it. The first part was correctly, then you said "taki". It's Tamageh-tah-kay. Close enough though!
If you never learn anything else about the Japanese language, know that it's phonetic. The letters/characters you read will always make the same sounds. (No silent e's or anything like that.) Each sound is only a few letters, so even though long words are intimidating, there's still only one way to pronounce them. Reading Japanese is actually pretty simple, understanding it is what you need classes for.
That's how we know Vintendo doesn't watch the Journeys anime or doesn't watch the subbed version because Goriranda was shouted so many times throughout the Masters 8 tournament.
