@Mitchaii B. Suan, Thank you for sharing. Cooking my puto maya this way it works for me. I tried soaking my rice and two ways could possibly happen to my rice overcooked and sticks like glue or undercooked and requires more time.
@Ian Barredo Not even a cup if you just want a speck of color 1 tbsp is enough but if you want deep purple color then you can add 1/2 cup. If you use 1/2 cup or more cup of purple rice make sure you precooked the purple rice separately.

@Ferlyn Gonzales, I use 2-3 tbsp of black glutinous rice to give a nice purple ish color and texture to my Puto maya. I enjoy eating my Puto maya with slightly crunch textures of black glutinous rice. However, if you prefer bold purple color puto maya I suggest to cook your black glutinous rice on a separate pot make sure is not overcooked though. Good luck! Let me know how it goes.
I grew up eating this when I was back home during my younger days. Where do you by the Tablea in the U.S.? I am in the Bay Area, CA. Would seafood city sell this as well as the banana leaves?
