- This is one of the most difficult videos that I have ever made because I actually had to pick favorite children.... maybe parents? How do you classify stories that you love? How do you rank them when they are all so different?

Completely agree with picks 1 and 2. The amount of sheer enjoyment and fun in cradle is nearly unrivaled. And the amount of world building and character depth in the cosmere is second to none

Love the vid! I also love your top 4 series, which makes me really think I should try out some Blake Crouch! Some in my own top 10 that aren't on here that I also think you might really like are Shadows of the Apt, Faithful and the Fallen, and Temeraire.
I read the first book in The Faithful and the Fallen and had a good time. I want to finish more of those books at some point. Shadows of the Apt also has me curious!

I haven't actually read any of these series yet(Except for the Circle o.g. trilogy; and Twilight🤣🤣🤣)-but so many of them have been on my TBR for age and ages, since before I went through my years long of no-reading phase[, which I've been having such a tragically difficult time getting myself properly out of the last few years..since booktube revitalized how much I love(d) and currently-miss reading].😁 😆 I'm hoping that I will be able to keep myself doing a whole lot more consistent reading next year...but I also don't want to make any promises, because I don't want to get myself feeling too down if I don't end up actually reading as much as I would like to. I get way more done if I can keel positive and feeling like I'm accomplishing things rather than burying//crushing/ myself under all the things I'm not accomplishing like I have such a bad habit of doing sometimes. 😅😊

Holy crap, when you started talking about the Circle Trilogy I suddenly remembered reading it in a big collected trilogy book in late middle/early high school. I'd always vaguely rembered it but couldn't rember the name or the author and thought it'd be lost to the sands of time as a distant foggy memory. I might one day reread it, but I seem to remember it's allegories as being even more on the nose than Narnia's, and my religious ties haven't exactly stayed strong over the last 15 years.
Could not agree more with how you describe Dresden. One of my favorite (and most influential) series.
Also love Cradle for the same reasons.

Wayward Pines is a crazy fast thrill ride... I guess Cradle also is but not quite as breakneck? lol

20:40 - This is literally how I feel about really good anime: It's astounding how they can sometimes cram more into a mere 15 to 20 min long episode than some whole entire 1hr-to-2hr long movies do....and yet...somehow..still not feel rushed or overcrowded. 🤣🤍
Dresden is on my list as well. My favorites tend to be like comfort food for me. LOTR and Narnia are always fun to reread. I also like every series from David & Leigh Eddings (Belgariad, Malloreon, Eleni, Tamuli, and The Dreamers)

Oh MAN!! I remember Dekker's Circle Trilogy/Quartet too!! What a callback. But honestly, all I remember about it is that I absolutely adored the first novel and that each proceeding book lessened the overall quality of the series. But thanks for the memory trip today. Wasn't expecting that.

The Dresden Files is my favorite overall series, and I have read it the most over the years. So so so good. I agree with Green Boners, that series missed for me as well. Martin is just a big'ol liar and I won't be supporting him again.

I DNFed the Dresden Files in book 12, it's when the things that annoy me about it got more than what I like about it. Really sad about it, but couldn't take it anymore.
Oh and have I told you already I tried Brandon Sanderson? Read Elantris and enjoyed it so much that I'm currently reading The Final Empire. So good job at getting me to finally give him a try. And thanks :)

Maybe when I'm done with Malazan 6 (Bonehunters) I'll need a palate cleanse. It's likely not worthy of a "Top Series" list, but what are your feelings on Codex Alera?
Codex Alera is on my TBR but I haven't read it personally! I am still SO CURIOUS about diving into Malazan myself but I'm so intimidated! haha
YAAAAAS THE COSMERE IS SO GOOOOOODDDD. I have yet to get to the "amazing" parts of Dresden. I like them but don't love them and up to book 5. I just don't love being in the head of dude bro Dresden and hearing his pervy skull.
Even as a straight dude Dresden really needs to find his chill.

I love Frank Peretti. Didn't read Ted Dekker...yet.. Mixed about Dresden but only on book 5. Couldn't get through Assassins Apprentice, but I do want to read Live Ships. Only read 1st book of the glittering vampires. Love Abercrombie. My guilty pleasure is Star Wars Legends. (Not really guilty though.) I'm 62. I sometimes wonder how much age affects what people read.
I've wondered the same thing even though I'm only 32. Age allows for a new perspective on old series and new series alike!

I enjoyed them at the time, but I don't think they hold up very well by comparison to his best works

My mother is just very much biased, in that she personally prefers G to PG ratings, in general-as long as we're talking PG from _after_ PG-13 & such also became a thing.
I distinctly recall her unwittingly renting an old unicorn movie once that had a PG rating from *_before_* PG-13 & such were also a thing, and she turned it off so fast, even though I wanted to know what happened next; and that was how I learned that PG didn't always mean what it does now. Loll
And that says so much about the difference is her and my personality, honestly, right there. 🤣🤣🤣

@@QuestLegacy If you like the TNG/DS9/Voyager era, I'd highly recommend the First Splinter Timeline! My wife and I have been going through it together and having a great time. I have my gripes with it, but I feel it's much more in line with the classic Trek vibe than the new shows they've been making. Plus, I'm just getting to some fantastic crossover stories there's no way they could have pulled off on TV!

@@QuestLegacy Oh...in that case maybe try the Vanguard series, if you had any curiosity? I haven't gotten to it yet, but it seems pretty separate from the other stuff.
Or, y'know, start by watching some Trek first? If you're not ready for twenty-seven seasons of building stories and lore, check out the Wrath of Kahn movie, at least. It does build off the three seasons of the original show (which is more procedural than later shows), if that's more manageable to try first.
Also, not everyone has to like Star Trek, and that's okay!
