Great vid, just picked up one of these at a thrift store myself this week. After doing some reading on it you should know that this machine requires 1.5amp output whereas the model2 genesis adapter only puts out .85. So long term use of it will damage the console over time.
Nice! I got one at the local used video game store for $5, they didn't know what it was, or if it worked. The guy even said "but good luck finding games for it!".
@RobertC19850209 if you're looking at the back of the x'eye, on the far right next to the power cord should be an AV in plug. You need to plug the patch cable from the 32x into that, and then the a/v cable from the 32x to the tv.
the price point isn't really attractive for just a gamer, but it is a well rounded entertainment device and definitely a treasure for collectors. Congrats again for this awesome pickup!
I love these JVC all in one units! Beautiful. Thanks for sharing! Too bad I wish JVC still did their versions of hardware, could probably re-design the 360 and make a bad ass Wii lol!
Nice vid mate. Do you know if there's anything similar in europe? I can't find the X'EYE, wondermega or the CDX. On ebay there were a few pioneer laseractive machines from abroad that are willing to ship but they are extremely expensive. I saw a single multi mega on ebay which is again very expensive. I was hoping to put together something to play mega cd games as well as 32x games (well, knuckles chaotix anyway).
Looking at the side-by-side, it looked like the actual Genesis had a slightly wider cartridge slot. Does this mean that the Master System Converter II isn't compatible with the X'EYE?
@n8great321 nope, just the red white and yellow plugs, and the power input. i opened it up and could see where one would have been soldered, is there a way to get a RCA to Patch cable instead?
how do you hook the 32 x into it? i know there's something about setting up the video cables, but i don't have the multi / rf out on mine. just the 3 rca plugs
I not only own one of these (lost the power cord though), I used to SELL them (although I think I only played it in the stereo store I worked at, lol). I played a TON of Genesis CD games, I was in my 20's then. I also sold a Pioneer Laserdisc machine with plug in modules and one was for Genesis cartridges, weird huh? Didn't sell maybe one of each over the course of years it sat in the store, played a TON of Madden football on them though! I wasn't the greatest salesperson, lol.
@Mewzilla Whats funny is the same thing happened to me, i found an Xéye at a goodwill which they marked as the price of a cd player (which is what they prolly thought it was) So i got the Xéye for only 12$. I'm sure i could make a nice profit for it off ebay but i'd never sell it.
lol good find i actually got one for free from my mom since she used it for karaoke but never used it much so i took it and she never asked for it since so i still have it lol
so im out at my cousins house in the middle of the country and he shows me this old system ive never seen. (wow right?) his friend gace it to him nad he stored it out back in a barn. lol i called him up this evening after checking it out and told him there not going for anythign less than 198 bucks on ebay. lol that dosent happen every day.
oh no now this h comes on the screen HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
I have an idea: get a standalone model 1 or model 2 Sega Genesis/Mega Drive and plug in the 32X add-on into it so that way you can play your 32X game cartridges on a separate 32X add-on attached to either Genesis/Mega Drive model. Next, insert either your Sega CD/Mega CD memory cartridge or insert a Genesis/Mega Drive cartridge or insert a Sega CD/Mega CD game disc of your choosing. If you want to save your game progress on a Sega CD/Mega CD or the JVC X'Eye, you will need a Sega CD/Mega CD memory cartridge. Makes sense, right?
I used to work for sega from the genesis ~ the dreamcast era. The CDX,although very cool, is rather unreliable. they tend to break down too often .., the JVC X'EYE is much better hardware wise.., it doesnt have any of the flaws the other versions of the hardware of the SEGA CD based hardware systems did.
Back in January of this year, I found one of these at my local Goodwill, as well. It's a nice console and I'm very happy to have it in my collection.

@MrMyrdok thanks for the heads up, I guess I'll have to find a CDX supply or a generic one from Radio Shack
Okay, we get it. It's super sweet, and you are crazy psyched about having it. But serisouly, it IS super sweet!
@Bp323 yes, I use six-button controllers on mine, but any genesis compatible controller will work.
Great Video man! Would love to have a X-Eye for my Sega collection.

I want one!!! Would be so much more convenient!

These can output RGB as well.

Damn right. Very cool stuff there. 5 stars.
ooh very nice! i need to get me one of those!
I was just being informative and making the community more knowledgeable...but it is super sweet :)
US version has controll pad two ports. No wireless controll pad. Japanese verson has wireless communication and the two controll ports.

cdx is a cool little machine too. I'm not sure which I'd prefer though.
If I see another cheap x'eye, I'll quit my job and start playing the lottery.
lol good find i actually got one for free from my mom since she used it for karaoke but never used it much so i took it and she never asked for it since so i still have it lol
It's compatible with the regular Genesis controllers?
Bp323 yes

X'EYE has not wireless receiver and wireless control pad, and so cheap function than WONDERMEGA RG-M2.
