    I've established a VESC works well on a Chinese clone electric skateboard. But I wanted to find a cheaper ESC (which would be especially useful if someone wants to to run two motors).
    The Alien Power System ESC is that ESC!
    Watch video to find out more and to see it in action. At the end is a recap of the Chinese clone electric board modifications thus far.

    Does the motor runaway from you? Meaning when you increase throttle the board goes but when you let go the board keeps accelerating. That's what is happening with me and I have the exact same setup. Any suggestions ?

    Does the VESC stays cool enough to put it in a waterproof closing or does it also needs cooling ?

    Just bought an Magneto (chinese clone). Works like a charm, but i don't like the brake, really to brutal.
    So I assume that i have to change the ESC. Do you think that Alien ESC will do the job ? thanks

      Yup, both the Alien ESC and the VESC will do the job. And your assumption is correct, you just need to change the ESC. Both have adjustable brakes and stop me perfectly.

    hi, just a couple of questions:
    1. can i remove the bms and use it as an external charger while leaving the stock speed controller in?
    2. what is the brand of the board you are using?

    • @DrCircuit
      @DrCircuit  8 років тому +1

      1. Yup. I mention this in my videos a few times.
      2. I have two, one is a Magneto Board, the other is a generic Chinese clone (I 'think' it's a Backfire board).

    could I replace the Battery in a 4ah clone board to an 8ah battery and everything work okay?

    • @DrCircuit
      @DrCircuit  8 років тому

      I've never opened one up or seen photos of it, but I have seen the specs. I strongly suspect it's identical to an 8AH board, just with a lower capacity battery. I'd be VERY surprised if you couldn't do this.

    What do you add to your boards to better waterproof them?

      9 minutes and 20 secs into the following video...

    Does the motor on this board work without problems?I found an unbranded 5065 1800watt motor on aliexpress and im thinking about getting it (for an economic diy setup)...Do you think i should do it or i should go with a branded motor and avoid risks?

    • @DrCircuit
      @DrCircuit  8 років тому

      I can't comment on the motor on Aliexpress as I haven't seen it, but the unbranded motor on the later Chinese clone boards is more than satisfactory. I run these on my clone boards and they move my heavy body around without problems. As I say, the ESC and BMS on these boards are problematic, everything else is either acceptable or good.

      Thanks for the reply.
      I asked because i think that they might be the same motors...Do you know the specs of the motors on these clone boards?

      Afraid not, and I've looked quite a lot...

    Still on my original bms and esc!

      I don't doubt it. A few questions:
      1. How often do you use it?
      2. What is your weight (if I remember correctly, you weigh 8 stone)?
      3. Do you treat it with respect (no hill starts, etc).
      It'd be useful to know what it takes to keep the original ESC and BMS up and running!

      @NightFlyer 8 років тому

      1) i use it every day back and forth for college, i encounter 10 degree max gradients all the time (7 miles total),then few more miles going to the shops etc. so alot
      2) yes about 8st
      3) hill starts rarely but when i do, it over loads and cuts throttle only for 1 second,
      some days on flooded roads (water level a quarter up wheel) but i made some longboard Wheel Shields (look these up) and i can use them in the rain for emergencies
      not a lot of respect really but a lot more than my standard (motorless) cruzer board

      would you know where to get some orange wheels for the clone board, Boosted wannabe coming through.

    • @DrCircuit
      @DrCircuit  8 років тому

      It seems the weight, or rather lack of it, is the reason why yours is lasting. Eight stone works in your favour!
      I do like it when people use electric boards as a viable means of transport. Gotta say, I'd lurve to see a video of your trip!

    Hey Dr.. I posted but deleted because I started testing things. I have put the new ESC in and the Baird still won't work, I have tried it on the working Board and it's fine, so I have narrowed it down to 3 things.. BMS, Power switch or the remote receiver! The remote receiver isn't working. The light isn't even flashing. I wired the working receiver from the working Board into the broke one and that didn't work, so now I'm thinking power switch or BMS.. Is there anyway to test if it's the BMS?

    • @DrCircuit
      @DrCircuit  8 років тому

      Yup, remove it entirely from the circuit (remember you don't need the BMS on the board to make the board run), wire everything up and see if the board comes to life.

    • @edbray938
      @edbray938 8 років тому

      +Dr Circuit can I still charge the battery with that BMS if it's broken?

    • @edbray938
      @edbray938 8 років тому

      ok so BMS cut out and still no life. Got to try and take the switch out now

    • @DrCircuit
      @DrCircuit  8 років тому

      Depends what part of circuit board is faulty. That's why if you remove it in it's entirety you'll know for sure it was at fault if board comes to life.

      Ok so BMS out, No power still, Switch out still no power.. I am so confused as to what is wrong now :/
