Awesome! Can't wait to see more of these! 50 years from now, I'll be 76. If I'm still alive (if the world is still here for that matter) I will hopefully have done what it takes to own one of these, and come back here and watch again.. Cheers
i just want to say: thank you! To all the workers at Gruhn Guitar, for making these incredible video's. I've always been really into 50's and 60's guitar. And these video's are really great to watch, again and again. I've learned so much and i'm sure you're gonna teach me a lot more! As a young adult i will write down what George said about these vintage guitar and i will see for myself if it's going to be the truth, or not. I hope these video's will still be around by then! best regards from the Netherlands

I love this guy. He has opened my mind to all the info about the guitars I love so much and I want to say thank you so much for your time and the wonderful info you have provided me and them.
"What the public wanted and what Gibson did were not always perfectly synchronized". I love how he's talking about guitars from the 50's and 60's yet his observation is still incredibly relevant for Gibson! Those are two gorgeous Les Pauls.
Well frankly if you are up to date with the direction Gibson is currently taking under their new management, it is very much synchronized with what the public wants and has been asking for from the company for a very long time...
Just LOVE You're Vid's George......I had to SUBSCRIBE! Your Knowledge of these PRICELESS GUITAR'S is something else. Also the Instruments you brandish give me Goosebumps. Always looking for your next installment, Thank you, and your team.........🎸💚

You should absolutely take time to visit George's new store (www.Guitars.com) as it is simply amazing. I'm hoping to make the pilgrimage to Nashville in May 2016 to see this amazing collection of guitars and, who knows, might be lucky to see Mr Gruhn in person.
+Andrew Bryan Andrew, George is an extremely accommodating person in terms of his schedule & loves to meet with customers at his store in Nashville. Just make sure you take enough time to take in ALL the incredible vintage instruments for sale there! Let us know how your pilgrimage goes, next month, ok?! There's so much talk about how the Les Paul guitars LOOK, who cares about how they look. I have a '56 Gold-Top with the baseball bat neck which feels great in the hand. It plays beautifully and sounds amazing. What more could I want ?
I came so close to getting an early 52 gold top without binding. I bid $8100 it sold for $150 more. Probably never get another chance at something like that.
Not sure how this episode didn't make it into my sub box when it was put out. Talk about a hidden gem. Lol While I am here, I have a bit of a question that has been brewing in my mind for a little bit now. This past year marks the thirtieth birthday of guitars such as the Jackson Rhodes and Soloist, Charvel Super strats, and the last of the "Golden Era" BC Rich guitars. Will there ever be an episode of Gruhn Guitars or a mini series of episodes dedicated to those guitars, or even an episode dedicated to certain notible pieces from the 1970's, like the Reissue Flying V and Explorer, 5 Position Switch Fender Stratocaster, or even Hamer guitars built in the 70's that were considered the basis of the reissue and recreation craze that seems to dominate the market from the Big G and Big F. Thank you for your time and patience.
+JohnnyMrHattersmith Yes, absolutely, there will be and yet, the episodes we are able to shoot with George & put out for our viewers depend on the guitars (i.e. guitar inventory stock) available at Gruhn's, while we are there shooting. We intend to finish the release of Season 3 (close to 25-30 more episodes, upcoming) during 2016 & continue on with Season 4 in 2017. Please also check our latest release of Episode 2 of Season 3, as of last Thursday, on Gibson Super Jumbo Acoustics which follows this episode! Thanks for Subscribing, Watching & for Your Comment! I kept a guitar mag. for years (it's around somewhere) which made me and my friend go 15 miles to Doncaster (UK) "Musicground" to look at a couple of Les Paul's which we couldn't afford . This was about 1994.....they were a '52 gold top (trapeze) @ £1200, and a '56 custom (alnico and P90) @ £1500...….On a different tack, I often saw Peter Green, with Mayall and Mac in the sixties, and Peter used the custom at least twice ,maybe more. I've never seen anyone note that. We used to call them 'Black Beauties' or 'Fretless Wonders'...………..bye bye from old git////
I doubt any customs were sold in 1953; the reason any would have a 1953 serial number is because the necks or guitars were made and stamped in 1953 but not sold or offered until 1954.
Dude, as much as I love you and respect your knowledge, you should play the suckers. At least let us hear them. You don't have to do a concert, just let us hear the original sound from them. Let us hear them! Think about it, eh?
Paul Willis Thanks, Paul. We understand your comment & the reason why a "play-test" wasn't part of The Gruhn Show is because we wanted to focus on George's unique knowledge of the instrument's themselves. We hope you can understand & still enjoy the series. Thanks for Watching & for Your Comment. Sincerely, The Musician Network (TMNtv)

There's something deeply distasteful about a guitar spoken in the same terms as stocks and shares. I am sure there will be a torrent of replies using such words as 'facts of life'...and 'that's reality'; none the less, the whole concept fills me with gloom. The idea that an 'ordinary musician' will never get to play one of these Les Pauls seems ridiculous. I dare say Les would have had similar thoughts.
Marc Highliner What a dumb comment. Most people will never drive or own a Ferrari. Your comment makes zero sense. These guitars are expensive because they are old and very few were made. I’m glad collectors are the only ones that can afford these. Maybe they will still be around in another 50 years.

Where did you get your armless rocking chair?
Thanks for the wealth of knowledge but my curiosity is still hungry and really want to know what kind of rocking chair that is?

Some interesting arcania on early Les Paul guitars. George Gruhn is an archtype of the adjective "laconic". :)
The rocking chair without arm rests is,in itself, fairly rare...

George never gets anyone to demo these old instruments. You need to employ a good guitarist to play them through a good amp.
