Tsugami SS20MH-III-5AX IMTS 2024 Demo

Making its debut at IMTS 2024 this machine has a 20 mm capacity with a 25,000 RPM B-Axis tool spindle, 30 tool magazine and full 5-axis capability!
The part is faced at both the guide bushing and the sub spindle with the indexable tool head, followed by predrilling and boring to prep for a 3.5mm 20XD drill being used to full depth. The part OD is turned utilizing servo-learning oscillation, two angled cross holes are made with helical interpolation, then drilled through. Next, the angled holes are given radiused edge breaks with full 5 axis surfacing. Various cross holes and slots are milled and drilled on the main body of the part, then more edge breaks are made with a chamfer mill using cylindrical interpolation.
All this while the sub spindle makes use of the 6 live stations on path 2 (with some static adaptors) for drilling, boring with oscillation, and thread milling (with a heimatec 4X speeder unit). Any suitable tools loaded in the tool spindle are also used on the sub side for a number of cross milled slots, angular faces, and edge breaks.
Once all sub side and mixed-path processes have been completed, the finished part in the sub spindle is dropped in the part chute, at which point the spindle is available for cutoff and part transfer.
