Thank you for your time doing this video. More or less, how many sprinklers could be installed by alarm check valve like that ? for K=16 3/4" sprinklerc type? Thank you in advance
We recently had an inspection done by a local company and they said our Gauges needed to be replaced because they were older than 5 years. Can you make a video on how to replace the gauges?
I'm sure you'd have to get an approved company to replace the gauges, you can't just unscrew and swap them out as the entire system has to be approved and certified to avoid shortcuts..
Most gauges used on fire sprinkler systems are installed with a "THREE-WAY GAUGE VALVE" (Google it so you can see an image of it). If your gauges have these valves, you can replace the guages without taking the system "out-of-service". Make sure your new water gauges are listed (approved) for usage on a fire sprinkler system. Use teflon tape on the new gauges if they didn't come pre-taped. Don't use pipe dope.
Fire sprinkler technician here technically you your self are not supposed to change out the gauges but if you wanted to just make sure you close the valve right before the gauge then you can remove it or even safer you can close the main valve on the entire system and drain it just make sure to call it in to the central the watches over the building
here is a question for you as you probably know in new installations anti freeze is frowned upon it seems possilbe that a fire hose can be attached to the sprinkler system so my question to you is could a dry sprinkler system be attached to a fire hose valve to function as a dry hose valve?
ok.if you wanted to rearrange some piping ( usually around ac unit ) where we shut water off and drain pipe? Sprinkler people really need to get their pipes up and out of the way. You trying to tell me there is no shut off anywhere?
whats that test show? i would think the way u test a sprinkler system is to get smoke near a sprinkler head and see if it goes off? im not understanding
It shows that the systems is working and water will flow when needed. You can’t really test sprinkler heads in buildings like that because you’re just gonna destroy whatever is in the room.
im not a sprinkler test person, but i do test the system electronically only. i have been in the presence of a sprinkler tech., while they conduct their physical test. the main drain is open to make sure there is water in the system and to make sure the water flows and clean water shuts out. there is no alarms by running the water. the (ITV) or test valve, is tested by opening the valve and it is a timed test, it usually triggers an alarm into the fire panel around 45 seconds or more. only certified technicians in Sprinklers conduct this kind of test. the system should have a fill in the blanks tag on it. the technician should note any changes in pressure every time the system is tested and inspected.
Main drain was before the first flow switch, so no alarm. You can read the gauges. If you’re alone you can then go do the inspector test, the fire alarm tech can tell you when they got the alarm. You can close it and go on with your day.
Very articulate, detailed and to the point. Thanks for the upload, earned a sub.
Nice content. Very helpful
This is how test and practice should be done and explain, thanks....

Short and sweet, thank you!
Great video
I liked when he put trouble on the fire alarm 1:42

Where we are, valve switches, supervisory on the panel, are latching, in that they do not clear when the valve is reopened.
Same here, just gotta reset the panel for it to clear.

Very well done.

Do you have to notify fire department when you do main drain test?
No sir your system should be on test and it won’t notify the fire department always have it in test.
Why can't the water pressure drop down to zero
What is the different between main drain valve and test valve .?
