When our kids are born, we shove baby dolls into the arms of our little girls and toy guns into the hands of our little boys, saying to them "You are only good for one thing. The PSA is saying that people should have the freedom to be who ever they want to be for Halloween. It should never matter what gender the character is, kids should be allowedn to dress up as who ever they want to be, they shouldn't be forced out of it because they aren't a girl or boy. I think the parents where sad because they where about to object to the kids on their choice of dress. They where intending for the daughter to dress up as Wonder Woman and the boy to dress up as Batman but it became the opposite. But after a while they realize that it should be their choice for who they want to be for Halloween and accepts it. Firstly, I love this; I can't stop crying, but they're happy tears. Secondly, there are a lot of comments associating this, especially the boy dressing as Wonder Woman with a 'gay agenda'. Obviously there is nothing wrong with being LGBT (I am myself), but I feel the need to say that that is so missing the point. These kids got to dress up as the heroes who inspired them for Halloween, regardless of any stupid stuff that might be thrown at them because of it. Whether or not they're also LGBT is irrelevants. Straight people and cis people can be inspired by and want to emulate people of the opposite gender. It's just amazing that we've reached a point where that's not only acceptable, it's celebrated. Love the message in this video - let kids be kids! The parents are letting them choose who they want to be, not the other way around. Red Tank Top, Blue Gym Shorts, Aluminum Foil Bracelets, and a Rope painted yellow. I cut out some stars and safety pinned them around my top/shorts and I became: Captain Wonder!!!!! hahaha DC Comics then like two years later came out with a villain that was named Captain Wonder. I don't want to discredit my mom, she allowed me to be girly and actually really appreciated that part of me (I had 6 older brothers and 1 older sisters). The PSA is saying that people should have the freedom to be who ever they want to be for Halloween. It should never matter what gender the character is, kids should be allowedn to dress up as who ever they want to be, they shouldn't be forced out of it because they aren't a girl or boy.
I think the parents where sad because they where about to object to the kids on their choice of dress. They where intending for the daughter to dress up as Wonder Woman and the boy to dress up as Batman but it became the opposite. But after a while they realize that it should be their choice for who they want to be for Halloween and accepts it. I love this. Kids wanting to dress as their favorite heroes. If you see something more than this, maybe you shouldn't project your thoughts into something so simple as dressing as your favorite hero for Halloween. Sappy but really sweet, letting children have fun and explore who they are and what they like is a lot better than forcing them down rigid stereotype paths that don't do them any good.
