Ben, thank you for this!!! I saw the strategically placed price stickers on the back of the Playboy laserdisc. Gave me a chuckle!!
That Barbie at Savers was going as Laura Palmer for Halloween, as she was wrapped in plastic.
Oh yes hell yeah tons and tons and tons of barbie dolls 🦁🐺🐊🐘🦒🦍🇦🇷🇦🇺🇧🇷🇨🇦🇬🇧🇫🇷🇩🇪🇭🇺🇮🇳🇮🇱🇮🇹🇯🇵🇰🇪🇱🇧🇲🇬🇲🇽🇵🇹🇷🇴🇷🇺🇸🇲🇪🇸🇸🇸🇸🇾🇹🇿🇹🇳🇺🇬🇺🇲🇻🇦🇻🇪
Barbie dolls
I love how the Playboy Laserdisc is right behind the Jungle Book.Talk about the "Bare Necessities!"
I`ll see myself out
I think Ben has the only channel where _'Insert Commerical Here'_ really does give you UA-cam commercials! Thanks Benny Boy :)
Hopefully so you can see them coming and they’re not too disruptive.
Always gotta make sure those DVD cases have all the discs 😂 the good thrift store workers will ask you at checkout if you checked the dvd’s before buying them
And make sure to check the VHS tapes before putting them in your basket too! You don't wanna come home and find that you got a different tape in the wrong sleeve or a moldy/damaged tape.
The DS9 was the one that they crossed over with the original series. And rando coincidence unrelated a little later up pops a Christopher Pike book the first captain in TOS Pilot
I can guarantee there's not a single thrift shop owner that understands what vgames actually are or how the technology's evolved, based on how they all overprice them.
Or maybe they are on the retro game bandwagon, because old=expensive and rare for them.
They want to cut out the middle man and make all the internet products, a trend that has all but killed the thrift store industry.
I used to work for a company that owned and operated 5 thrift store locations and one of my jobs was to check the value of stuff and sell anything worth more than $30 on eBay
The Belle de jour is a great movie. The Deep Purple, I think, was the last one with Blackmore I believe. Really a lost gem. The fact someone re-recorded it is mind blowing, and badly at that. Great haul for you there. Next week should be Halloween. Let us wait for the insanity.
Stormbringer was the last of Blackmore's first Deep Purple stint. They regrouped in 1984 and he again left in 1994. Quite a convoluted story!
@@porteiromendes8466 yeah I knew that. Perfect Strangers was a classic. I Iike Stormbringer as well. Coverdale and Glenn Hughes were great.
@@michaelcarpenter2498 Hughes is amazing, Burn is still one of my favourite records!
I can't believe I only discovered your channel a couple of months ago but share so many of your interests.
I'm guessing you have the book Mental Hygiene
Decided to look up that Smuggler's Inn in Alexandria. It's now a park.
Guess that Gino Vannelli album can be used as a frisbee now. :D
For the record, I can at least tolerate Gino Vannelli.
Just 20 seconds in, but I just have to say - "We already have Halloween at home" - oh that's brilliantly hilarious. Well done.
After pausing the video, I see that was farther along in the title... but hey, I see an OA upload, I immediately click without looking at the full title.
@14:10 oh wow, my parents have that "25 All-Time Family Favorites" albumn. If someone had asked me, I'd have no idea what they were talking about, but seeing it, some distant memory buried in my cranium lept to life. I'm easily amused, but I think that's a cool random 'oh hey' moment.
I'm surprised goodwill sells 'naughty' stuff. I'd have expected those donations to go straight into the dumpster.
If you haven't yet, you got to check out the Osmonds playing foggy mountain breakdown with Roy Clark and Charro.
15:55 so many vintage film cameras there id like to put in my own collection!
another episode! I love this series, i have already binge the entire past catalog and enjoyed it
7:24: "The Lew Alcindor Basketball Game" -- that's gotta be an antique since it's been 51 years since he changed his name to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (and OMG do I ever want it!)
I had a TV like that Gold Star when I was in high school in the very late-90s-early-00s. It was a black & white one though. Got it for free from an old motel in Gatlinburg TN that was clearing out storerooms (same way I got a GE floor model TV from the '60s...one of those ones that sat on skinny legs instead of sitting right on the floor...you'd be surprised how long some places will hold onto something).
I’m blown away by how much that early LG set being $60. I used to get TVs like that in the early 2000s for like $10
I'd be more concerned they kept the Playboy Laserdisk right behind a copy of a kid's movie from a certain company that shall remain nameless, rather than their little kid seeing it.
Seriously doubt any little kids would ever be digging through a crate of laserdiscs.
@@OddityArchive Good point. Though, you'd think that's the kind of thing they'd hide behind the counter, regardless. Though, personally, I'd grab that copy of Jungle Book over that soft core bore stuff any day.
On the other hand, if it weren't for YT, the Playboy disc would've made some prime VHS Vault material.
@@OddityArchive Probably the only enjoyment that thing's ever going to get.
15:28 "Mars Attacks!" reference for the win!
that gold star TV was black and white, my grandmother had one, korean made, they renamed themselves to LG in the 90's
That re-recorded Stormbringer, wow. Who is that for? Who bought that? I didn’t know that was a thing.
A place down in Marshall, MO, was selling a few dozen CED's just a couple of years ago. I think they may still have them. 12:15 I think that I have that 3 Stooges DVD set.
Lucky-Goldstar, better known now as LG. My first tv was a Goldstar, and was well over 20 years old when it gave up the ghost.
Stormbringer is still going. Rocking the Tampa Bay area as (still) a tribute band.
Halloween at home:
You passed up the used blank 8tracks. Never know what's recorded on them.
I’ve already got a backstock of those. Having said that, of the ones I’ve listened to thus far, I’d only call one a keeper.
I always enjoy whenever a new Oddity Archive episode pops up in my notification. Keep up the great work Ben!
7:09 Shoutouts to The Spoony One's "Black Hole of Board Games" segment on VCR Golf
"A Continuous Play 8-Track Cartridge"... what does that mean? They recorded it across the splice?
Holy crap! Never thought I’d see the 8-Track of Caught Live + 5 by The Moody Blues again! Great live album.
$15 for a Jerry Jeff Walker Elektra/Asylum Promotional album? That’s not exactly an easy find - at least in promo form!
When I was making this, there were sealed copies for less on Discogs (including the shipping).
@@OddityArchive I’m actually hesitant to buy from Discogs after what I’ve been hearing!
Confine yourself to the 99.5%+ positive feedback sellers and you should be ok. The one and only time I’ve had a problem, I was able to return the LP.
Nice. Thank you for sharing.
I really do appreciate your commercial break cards then it cuts to actual local ads.
No love for Midnight Express? Didn't even acknowledge it when flipping through the laserdiscs.
Ugh, I'm not much of a prude, but if my kids (if I had any) aren't gonna be logging on to the ultra-hardcore crap of e621, then they aren't going to be handling anything from the relatively vanilla Playboy.
That's the head of Bernard the Business Bear
11:23 - didn't do it on this AT episode, so I will.

ESCAPE
TO VIDEO UPDATE!
The Fantastic F(ail)s have nothing on me
I noticed that Ben passed up the LP of the "Midnight Express" OST. Not a Giorgio Moroder guy, I guess.
Got my fill from Metropolis, I guess.
Aw, no mention of Loretta Lynn's passing just 2 weeks ago?
I finished this before she died. Been working on the Halloween episode for awhile now.
see you around benny boy nice work
I'll take that college football game.
I'm very fond of a few choice incredible string band albums, 5000 layers, wee tam and of course hangmans beautiful daughter, but their later stuff is atrocious. I blame them falling for scientology personally
Happy Oddity Thursday!
I wish you bought the bear mask.
It can see everything and nothing at the same time….
@4:04; I wouldn't have. I was the guy who would remove all the covers over the adult DVDs at places like Suncoast so the kids WOULD see them. LOL
@7:51; the second copy of Beach Boys Endless Summer album I've seen here.
@9:19; why not just walk around to face it properly when you film it?
Re 9:19: That would imply I have some sort of planning skill.
Oddchive❤❤❤
I wouldn't call Cinema Paradiso an artsy fartsy film, it's a mainstream Italian dramedy about cinema, but yeah, maybe being an Euro movie with subtitles AND no action and mayhem automatically makes it artsy fartsy for the american public tastes 😅
Hah that "I shot the sheriff" 8 track. I was juuuust singing that song to myself before watching the video.
Really, a playboy record or laser disc too. I'm not sure which one but what the???? lol
It's a video on laser disc, not an audio record.
It’s a laser disc. Basically a dvd the size of a record. They go back to the early 80s.
@@chrisw6164 I wasn't sure if it was a laser disc but I read a history about them too, :) They also didn't go so well for a while. But at least dvds are still going on these days. Speaking of the playboy stuff, they should've had an adults area in a resale shop for adults where they can put their videos/books there. Like libraries where they have a section for adults only. Why can resale shops do that right?
