Stunning. Best version I have heard. The gorgeous alto in the purple dress is just fun to watch, and can she sing!
She is staring into your soul…
"Soli Deo Gloria!" ❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉 Giuseppe Perego Monza 16.2.1962 Grazie
This band (ensemble) is absolutely fantastic! What a discovery this is! Refreshing, lively, playful, absolutely solid prepared and carefully practiced. Have not heard any version so brilliant as this. Pure delight! So happy everytime I hear it (and watch it). Must have been 12 times already.
Just wonderful and joyous. Thank you.
Präzision, Tempo, fantastic voices...Bach would have loved it
Wonderful Music Bach 🎉❤
what spirit!!!! BRAVO!!!!
Wunderbar ❤

The lass in the purple frock 🥰😍
A mystery that there are not way more views..
Lovely! Great! Beautifull!
Fantastic thank you, greetings from Utrecht the Netherlands
Super
Hammering each and every note ... this is beautiful.... one day
Bach is nothing if not relentless.
This is just wonderfully done…so joyful!
Amazing! Amazing! Amazing! 😱
So skillfully done, brought a big smile
to this old boy’s face.
I am old and it brought a smile to my face.
Fantastic!!!
Fantastic, great momentum! Thank you!
(PS Your performance of the Bach B minor mass at Shoreditch Town Hall a few years ago was the best I've ever seen.)
Thanks! 😃
I so love this.
Quel swing !
The three female singers ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ The tall blonde is my absolute favorite !!!! She gave me the true feeling of baroque exhilaration.
Huh?
@@herrickinman9303 Huh what . . . ??? What do you mean ?
I would follow this ensemble anywhere.
Thanks Gina! Are you on our mailing list, so you know when/where all our concerts are?
If you live in London and support us, even at a low level, you can come to our rehearsals!
@@solomonsknot I wish! Do you ever make it to New York or Boston?
@@ginacrusco234 depending on upcoming visa cost decisions…it’s not impossible that we’ll make it over in the next year or two. If you know any promoters who might like us, spread the word!
But since you would ‘follow us anywhere’…😉
@@solomonsknot Please look at my email.
One of my favourite Bach choruses. Relatively rarely played live at least in Germany, where often only cantatas 1-3 are performed.
The two singers per voice works very good here. A lot better than in the opening chorus of cantata 1 (jauchzet frohlocket).
BTW, as a native speaker I can say: your pronunciation is spot on. I just find some (not all) of the final Ts too exaggerated, but that's more a question of personal taste.
Probably the best live performance of this specific piece of music that I have heard.
Personal favourite of Christmas Oratorio remains Gardiner, but of course that's a studio recording.
Oh, you meant put the scores (Partituren) away, not put the notes away! I don't have any problem with singers or instrumentalists performing from scores.
Beautiful performance of very difficult piece! Poor camera work though.
This is the most difficult section in the whole oratorio, isn’t it? As I recall from when I save this piece long long ago no other part of it was anywhere near as hard as this one.
I think "Herr, wenn die stolzen Feinde schnauben" is more difficult to sing.
@@THyperon Have you sung the piece yourself? "Herr, wenn" has long melismas but you can "stagger" your breathing, and the music is easy to follow and entrances are easy to get right.
@@ColonelFredPuntridge Yes, I sung the whole Weihnachtsoratorium over years. First as a boy soprano, later alto, tenor and finally bass. We sung Ehre sei dir Gott gesungen a bit quicker than here.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow - how do the women singers manage without notation?
Actually as a rule we always sing without scores, but for this project we had three short-notice replacements.
Top-quality replacements, too!😊
How can this repertoire be sung in a pretentious way like this! 😭
What's pretentious about it exactly?
I agree- it is very pretentious in some ways. The first soprano and female altos virtue signalling style off the copy is so distracting. They both look ridiculously tense and the stiff necked, lighthouse- like swivelling looks ridiculous. The basses manage it with less pretence- best of all is the tenor section who communicate beautifully even though on copy. It’s all very well to use the gimmick of no scores to give the impression of communcating better with the audience but REALLY? ! Does it have to look so ridiculously self aware? 🤢🤮
I think those who object are the pretentious ones!
Too showy/showing off 😮
Why do the women have their parts memorized but the guy singers need the book? 😉🪕
Due to illness, we had quite a few last minute replacements.
@@solomonsknot ah! Thank you. I was really just making a joke. I have only recently discovered you guys and I am quite smitten. My niece in Berlin sings with Rias Kammerchor and I’ve made her a fan of Solomon’s Knot also.
I am a lowly banjo player, with a massive crush on Bach. 🤣🪕. They don’t go well together.
Thanks again for your music. I hope to see you live someday.
@@friendlybanjoatheist5464 Thanks for liking us! We just played in Eisenach, and will be in Regensburg on 9th October. Come!
@@solomonsknot I would love to, but I live in California. But, hey, if you allow me to accompany you on my banjo perhaps I would make the trip.
