That's exactly what Yamaha did with the new Yamaha XJR 1300
5 years ago, Yamaha launched a custom building program, called "Yard Built’.
And to celebrate the 20º Anniversary of the XJR model, Miyazawa, choosed one of the builders in the top of his list. Osvaldo Coutinho, and Alexandre Santos, from "It rocks bikes", located in Portugal. CS-06 Dissident is the name of this beauty.

Yamaha came out with a Cafe(ish) model, the XV950 Racer.

my dear friend, this week I feel a little disappointed, is not for the motorcycle, this Yamaha is AWESOME, is not for the quality of the video, I love RacerTV, but rather because the bike that you show me going completely against what I think; it is basically a kit to install it and it works, as if anyone could simply adjusting screws and have your custom bike; no welding, no sheet metal work, without blood on their hands because the work… my dear friend, I hope you understand way I think “”Work+pride+love+passion = amazing motorcycles””...a greeting and a hug, and see you next week ;)
+Turbo Dreams No problem. I completely agree with you. But i have to consider that there are many other enthusiasts that don't have opportunities of building something. Some for the lack of time, space, machinery or tools. And for these guys, this bike project can be the only answer for them. But even so, thanks for sharing your opinion. Cheers.

Awesome looking kit... The XJR here in Australia has finished production and there are but one or two new bikes remaining for sale on AU dealer floors.
with the growing popularity of custom design businesses and cafe racer projects, I predict the XJR will soon become a very sought after machine within the used market place, same I believe for low mileage GSX 1400's and ZRX 1200's....
You don't realise what you have until its gone! So invest now ;)

good looking bike. the xjr is an awesome machine with lots of potential. i absolutely like the fact that it is a bolt on conversion kit because as much as i know here in austria it's not allowed to cut/change anything on the frame.

ótima ideia!! Aqui no Brasil existe uma iniciativa parecida, Chimpa Tmz. Eles utilizam motos hondas de baixas cilindradas, com preços mais acessíveis, e as transformam em cafe racers. Parabéns pelo video

Very nice. I love the simplicity and clean look of the bolt on parts. Thank you for including the engine sound at the end. At first look of those pipes, I just had to hear them. Great video.

This is probably the best "robotic voice" in the world. And believe it or not, most Racer Tv fans love this voice so much, that i can't change it now. It's like a special and unique feature of Racer TV.
This robotic voice sounds very good and real for all non english natives. Try to see all this, as one of the firsts youtube channels in the world, using a voice that isn't real. It couldn't be more original than that. :) Cheers.

+MarkusReese I'm sorry, but i didn't quite understood the main point of your comment. Can you clarify a little bit?
I always found that companies sometimes try to mass produce "custom". I find this rarely works. An example is the Honda Rune. It is a nice performing bike, but I only have seen one ever on the road.
Companies like Harley Davidson and Triumph however make bikes that are very well suited to modifying and even offer a wide range of accessories/
The Yamaha here is a fine example of offering a blank canvas with which to customize. Instead of trying to sell a full custom bike, they made a bike which is very well suited to being customized.
The Smart Kit is like fine paints on which one can begin making your own piece of art. In my experience, most projects fail because a person does not have the skill to do the body work. This kit however removes one of the biggest hurdles in a cafe bike without it looking like just a kit.
