Don't feel bad. I working with a client on a storage solution and a vendor of mine had these USB drives disguised as a pen. So I thought my client might want one. "That's great Tim, but being a defense contractor that wouldn't go over well with our CIO" lol. I felt like a dumbass.
I've had my c64 mini since Oct. 9th last year, the day it was released here in the USA. I haven't opened it yet, but I think I will now. Nice video bro. Thank you.
I am trying to update the firmware and did everything you did but for some reason it will not detect the firmware - using a 2gb USB flash drive, formatted in fat32 but no joy
I've done all this but I Can't seem to get Joystick support on most added Games. I want to play Attack of the Mutant Camels and Styx again with Joystick support. Is there a solution?
I know im late but im having some issues. My usb is formated as fat32 and the only file on the usb stick is the 1.6 update. However, my c64 cant find it. Am i doing something wrong?
@1nfamous76 sort of. I kept my USB plugged in for about an half an hour and as I was going to give it a last attempt, it suddenly read my USB stick. I don't have any other explanations. I didn't change it, or did anything different. Just left it on for around half an hour, and it randomly worked. I hope this helps you. Good luck!
@charleshultgren7804 thank you for that response. I got it to work by installing SD formatter on my PC and formatted the drive using that opposed to via Windows. Once I did that I put the update onto the drive and it worked. Happy days. My only gripe now is the fact it states it has Armalyte on this thing but it doesn't. I had to source it myself and it subsequently crashed midway, so not impressed on the whole.
I have a problem because I upgraded it properly on USB stick (FAT32). There is no folder and file name not changed. Still my mini C64 cannot detect that file theC64-1_3_2.bin! Is this caused by virus?
Some or all? Some use the first joystick port, but this system uses the second. Good news is that if you add _J1 to the end of the game’s file name (before the extension) You can tell the C64 mini to use port 1. This needs to be done with any game using port 1
@@Retr0Rob Thanks for replying. Yes, it was an issue with de port. I added the _J1 at the end of the filename and it worked. And yes, the issue was in some games, not all.
Nearly 2 decades working in IT and I can't remember what a USB flash drive is called. Solid there!

John Lennon's Birthday nice...
Ha, that's funny I had mine since last Christmas and finally got around to playing with it recently.
You made my day man!
Dude if that's a Vectrex behind your head you rock and if you don't have it already you need Spike best game on the system bar none.
They made a multicart a few years back with pretty much every game on it. It's pretty cool.
Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks Rob!!
Thanks for watching!
Nice! Also that Mario 64 is pretty cool
The update is a game changer - they just should have made it easier to swap multidisk games
Agree, and agree. Maybe an update will fix that.
Retr0rob they said, they will implement it in the software of the big version, i don’t think the mini will get any more updates, but who knows... 🤷♀️
@@zockeromi1970 That is a bummer...
Very good job, Rob! Is it possible to add also C16 games to C64 Mini? Maybe with a C16 emulator or some other way..?
Hello. What site did you download the games to?

Hi I'm going to buy one today but the firmware is version 1.6.1 could that prevent me from adding my own rom files ?
Ive bought a c64 mini usb stick with games on it but won't work?
Is it possible to emulate NES games on the C64 Mini?

i am having the exact same issues - did you find a resolution to this problem. my christmas day is ruined thus far

Try a different USB stick -- it can be finicky.
Now where you plug the damn tape player into this thing ...
I followed this to a T and the utility converts the NIB to .g64 format which will not play on the mini. Any advice here?
My c64 mini when it boots up it goes to commondore basic screen and won't let me go back to carosal menu how do I make it go back?
I'm kind of spitballing this, but I think you hit the menu button ≡, choose options -- I think it's listed under boot mode.
Oh wait I figured it out
I kinda freaked when it did it. I think it started doing it cause I put a usb drive of games I downloaded in the system.
I'm not really sad but my joystick died. I have read thar usb snes controller should work, any suggestions?
Mine broke as well -- I'm pretty sure I have been using a knockoff SNES controller as well.
so my joystick that came with it is fucked... as predicted. so how do I do this
Ha, mine broke too! I use a generic arcade stick to play and it seems to work fine.
my joystick does not work with the usb loaded games

@@asphixmx Glad you got it sorted!
How come whenever I apply the firmware update it causes the whole system to freeze up.
That was supposed to be a question mark, not a period.
Might want to try a different USB drive: I find that the smaller the capacity the better.
So not really adding games to the system, just loading them from a drive.
Correct: You would need the USB plugged in.
Can I buy a firmware preloaded usb stick?...as I don't have wi-fi
