Sir in geometric distribution Random variable X starts from 0 and so on 5:50
Not necessary to start 0, if it start from 0 then pmf is q^x p... Carefully see the difference between them
I believe some books have X representing the number of failures before first success occurs and so the distribution is defined as pq^x. Other books have X representing the number of trials so x starts at 1 and the distribution is the pq^(x-1). Either way should come to the same result.

In 2nd practice question, you have to find the distribution function only like p(x), not to calculate the particular event probability..... Right answer is p(x) = (1/2)^x-1 (1/2) = (1/2)^x, where x=1,2,3,.... Is the number of new baby girl born.
