Marianne Faithfull's Broken English has the Compass Point All Stars as her band , recording in one of the best studios on the planet at the time, Compass Point. This is Chris Blackwell's (Island Records) studio. As Mike might know, Wally Badarou (Compass Point All Star) has recorded with Talking Heads. He played the most on Speaking In Tongues and his solo album called Echoes is really good.

Really dug the Byrne sample. Will pick that up if I run across it. Byrne rode his bike by my house once when in town for the DNC. He was headed to Repo Record lol

Great story Dave, I saw an interview with Byrne, he talked about riding his bike. I wish he was riding his bike down my street and got a flat tire. I'd offer to fix his tire and serve him some lemonade and talk about music for hours and hours. He could sleep over and the next day, we could talk about music for hours and hours.....

Michael, I did not know that Andy MacKay had two versions of his solo album. I have the second and didn't realize it. I also did not realize that the Catherine Wheel had an expanded version. Thanks, Chris

The Bandcamp links on VC videos often get me in trouble. Staiano is on order. Interesting pickups, and I thought the Byrne one was particularly interesting and need to dive into that album more. Have a great rest of the weekend.

Michael, excellent brain- food and ear candy on display right here and now! I need ''The Catherine Wheel'', like a junkie needs junk. I also need David's ECM album, '' Music For The Knee Plays'' That album features guys like Jackie Kelso, Ernie Watts and drummer Paul Humphrey, who are more likely to be found on a Steely Dan or Zappa recording. The Nonesuch label reissued ''The Knee Plays'' with bonus tracks and maybe a DVD. The only Andy Mackay ''solo'' project that I have is '' Rock Follies'', I think we discussed that album a few years ago. Andy was responsible for dragging Eno into Roxy Music, I noticed the Eno single, behind you. Marianne Faithfull's live album, '' Blazing Away'' recorded in the late 1980's is spellbinding, Dark cabaret and ultra- modern Torch song. Peasant Food is good for you, and so is Peasant Song, they both ''go'' good with beer! Nostalgia ain't what it used to be, I saw Dannie Richmond play live with the Don Pullen/ George Adams quartet, with Cameron Brown, the band was red-hot and Dannie stoked the fire!

Hi Michael! I have the VHS video release of Blazing Away buried somewhere deep in my closet. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to have ever come out on DVD. Very cool that you got to see Dannie Richmond!
