And lay people who do the same. Nothing will change until we take responsibility for ourselves.

The Untold Story About Palm Sunday
It’s shocking, yet fascinating and should be questioned to the full extent of your common sense. Easter with all its celebration is approaching. But, there’s a story that was never told. What’s the real story behind “Palm Sunday”? Carefully consider this:
One must place themselves in the lives of those who lived in Judea at the time of Jesus Christ to fully understand the events from which “Palm Sunday” originates. Judea had suffered wars and oppression for most of the three centuries leading up to Christ. The country was now occupied and governed by foreigners. Many citizens of Judea were not of Jewish heritage.
Most Jews knew of a prophesied Messiah written of in the Old Testament; a king which would restore the kingdom to Israel. They were eagerly awaiting His arrival to free them from the oppression and Roman occupation.
It’s vitally important to perceive Christ as they did in His day. Recall that even at the age of 12 “All that heard Him were astonished at His understanding and answers.” These were the educated religious leaders of the day. Nothing is known about Him from that time until He was 30, but it’s not a stretch that He continued doing “My Father’s Business”. In doing so He most certainly became popular in the region and throughout Judea.
You find the accounts from which “Palm Sunday” derives in Matthew 21, Luke 19 and John 12. Everyone is familiar with Christ’s many miracles, i.e., healing the sick, raising the dead, feeding 5000, etc.. His power was immense and the people knew it. In Luke 19 you find: “…the whole multitude began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen.” This rejoicing occurred during the event when He rode upon the colt and the people laid down their garments and branches. There was a “great multitude” present. They were crying: “Hosanna! Blessed is the KING OF ISRAEL that comes in the name of the Lord.”
OK, now to the heart of the matter. Why do you suppose this “great multitude” was so jubilant? Was it because they knew he was going to His death? Let’s get real; it was because they thought He was going to Jerusalem to overthrow the Romans and become their King. Wouldn’t you have thought the same thing after witnessing His great power and linking that with the prophesied Messiah?
The entire event from which “Palm Sunday” originates was a total act of ignorance, as is the man-made observance of today. Nowhere in the Bible are Christians to observe this event. It’s a man-made commandment to which Christ declares: “In vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrine the commandments of men.”

Whenever someone raises the question of women serving in the priesthood, the usual rebuttal takes the form of a rhetorical question: "How many female disciples did Jesus have?" Perhaps the responder should ask: "How many of those twelve disciples were 72 years old?" Best evidence suggest that Jesus was 30 when he died on the cross; there is no evidence that any of his disciples were older than this. The average age of popes elected throughout the 20th century was 65; whereas the average age of current cardinals is 71.7. If 80 years is the age limit for cardinals to participate in a conclave, perhaps there should be a similar age limit for a serving pope? Back in the 18th century, the Catholic Church started picking younger popes; beginning with Benedict XIV in 1740, the next 14 popes were all between 54 and 68 at the time of their selection. Why has the Catholic Church drifted toward a gerontocracy? Historically, John XII became the youngest pope, taking on the job in 955 at the age of 18, was he too young to manage the job? At 87 is Pope Francis too old to manage the job?
