Very very proud of how this video turned out, definitely one of my personal favourite vids I've ever made. I tried to make this appeal to both a more general audience that only knows a little about gd, and my audience who probably have played a decent amount of it. Idk if it'll break into the speedrunning audience at all, but it would be cool to introduce more people to the game and even get more people into speedrunning gd

the RNG in the cursed thorn fight comes from the slam attack in the last phase. sometimes he’ll do that attack multiple times in a row, giving you no opportunity to attack
The rng also comes from the fireballs. They can spawn very quickly or very slow.

in the secret hollow the factory part, keep holding to not get bossted into opp dir.
the bossfight second phase, hit the bossfight as late as possible with the green ones, there is a check every few seconds to see if you hit him 3 times. for the last fire you want to wait as much as possible so he throws another one and then you can hit him while he;s transitioning into next.

or for cursed thorn phase 2 just skip the first projectile. u will get 4 projectiles instead of 3

Everyone who looks at speedrunning from the outside focuses always at top times. You don't have to be a top player to speedrun!
There's nothing wrong with starting slow and doing runs just for fun.
As Tride said, there's always choice on speedrunning, you can do the strats you like and skip what you don't.
There is no shame on being at the bottom of the leaderboard, what matters is that you tried and enjoyed yourself.
Awesome video Tride, hopefully this brings more people to not only GD speedrunning, but speedruns in general. It's an amazing community, and there's always someone that can help.
8:42 the reason you couldn't do it is because you didnt go down and go back up for the top-left corner key, you just rolled onto it, which is actually slower.
and also at 9:12 the reason you had a low consistency rate with that strategy is because you bumped two corners on the way up. it's actually not too bad once you learn it in your muscle memory.
the next thing is that the skip at 7:12 doesn't save anytime because you still made the same platform cycle as you would've is you just waited. the reason the WR does it is because of a strategy called "JCAK Cycle" which is known to be the hardest strategy in the game.
I'm glad the speedrunning community is finally getting recognized. Until Alex's sub 7 min run, not a lot of people were making videos about gd speedrunning
I’ve had this perfectionist issue with speedruns for a while now. I’ve tried Portal, Hollow Knight, and Celeste speedruns but I always try things that I can’t do super consistently for just a second saved, causing me to reset so many times right at the beginning because I keep making it harder for myself. Speedrunning is so much more fun once you realise you won’t be perfect and just to keep going.
The Cursed Thorn needs a perfect RNG or you could get the worst RNG where it just stops attacking and so it stops shooting the green ones we need to defeat it

I think you can set a key bind for the time start/end so do that instead of clicking the timer
The way you did that skip in the Cellar doesn't save any time anyway. To save time you need to execute almost perfectly and hit the top elevator platform.

The extra green bullets is actually not RNG at all, what makes the monster shoot out more bullets is how lame you pick them up, since he only stops shooting after you hit them 3 times, of you pick them up as a late as possible you can add up to 5 hits! and its pretty consistent
2 small tips:
1. If you have quick keys on you can use CTRL+R to restart from the beginning of the level
2. Download Livesplit and set up a restart keybind so you don’t have to exit the game every time you fail a run
you don't need to press ctrl+r, just R
playing baba is you music while doing your first speedrun attempt sums up how good you are at speedrunning lol
I really like the new style of intro, the humour was actually really funny 😂
The extra fireball in the boss is not RNG
It's a strat where you pick up the attacks as late as possible to stall, so he has time to shoot out more greens before the slow laser attack get added 👍

i love platformer speedrunning but the spider gamemode is so overshadowed by ball, and because my favorite gamemode is spider that kind of a letdown, but the video was insane dude. gg
Tride i have a realy good idee for a vidio try to make a open world level just like castle mania. And you could put in 2.2 stuff i tink it could be realy fun and if you enyoy it tp you can make it a series like the memory and gimick levels. Love your content ❤

no... not really. 30s is a large amount of time in speedrunning basically any game under like 30 mins, especially ones like these which have some of the most optimized runs... ever.
tip. if you hit the green thing in the boss right as they touch the ground its impossible to miss!
