that heat press 9x12 is small,get ya a 15x15(most common) heat press, i started with a circuit cutter to start out with,but if ya want to cut bigger designs, get a cutter that cuts up to about 20 inches .but i pretty much started out the same way to lol.

Look into getting a Direct to Film printer. He can do his designs and print them out and press them directly on his shirts.
