    Nice! Recently I've caught a couple of 35cm+ tilapia and 45cm catfish below the damn wall at the Spillway Common, also heaps of lungfish there and I managed to catch one that was at least 1.2m. (Looks like emptying the back freezer of frozen prawns worked)

    Do you guys know if they strike the surface. I was out on dusk near logan inlet and there were a massive amount of surface strikes all around my yak. Couldn't hook up on worms as the little catties and barred grunter kept nibbling the worm off. And nothing was interested in the little crank I was flicking. Surely it wasn't bass there

    Josh. Im 195cm and I fit in the smaller 2.8m one easy. Can stretch out and not hit Anything. So the bigger hunter model will provide even more room

    Good stuff! Where abouts in Wivenhoe do you go? And where do you put it? Ive been trying to get my first tilapia for awhile now.

      This was shot in the kipper creek arm of the dam on the eastern side... There's access at the kipper creek bridge though it's a bit of a mission down to the water... Recommend using worms for your best chance... Also lake wyaralong south of Ipswich is full of till is and carp so throwing a line thee you have pretty good odds!

    You know the cancel can take your kayak for tilapia fishing just to let you know ps I've seen you out there ps got a yellow belly it was 50cm it was awesome edit ps you have to kill Em

    • @TheBrisbaneRiverBoys
      @TheBrisbaneRiverBoys  7 років тому

      +Charlie Gorden council can't do anything... There's nothing stopping you catching them you just can't take them away from where you catch them or release them back into the water... The ones in this vid were killed and then buried once we got back to the launch location...

    Why doesn't the government allow people to take these fish home for eating ?.

    • @TheBrisbaneRiverBoys
      @TheBrisbaneRiverBoys  6 років тому +1

      Because they are backwards thinking money grabbers

    • @alexrunescape7122
      @alexrunescape7122 4 роки тому

      @@TheBrisbaneRiverBoys It's actually the same reason the government makes you wear a seatbelt. Tilapia are a pest and carry toxic eggs in their mouths. That's why you're supposed to destroy them and not release them back into the water.

    • @TheBrisbaneRiverBoys
      @TheBrisbaneRiverBoys  4 роки тому +2

      Ned Blume not true sorry... it’s to do with limiting the spread... the eggs are not toxic nor is the fish itself... they do however carry eggs in their mouths which can survive long after the parent is dead... this makes them an extra risk with misinformed people taking them home and hitting them in the sink or by their local river etc... it’s not legal to take them home but it is legal to cook and eat them on the spot at the time of capture according to Queensland fisheries

    • @alexrunescape7122
      @alexrunescape7122 4 роки тому +1

      @@TheBrisbaneRiverBoys Ah ok I was misinformed. That still seems like a pretty good reason though and I can't see how it's motivated by money?
