I'm totally ignorant to the background of these gentlemen, so they have me wondering if they were around and really analyzing lyrics at the time they came out, or are they looking at the 80s era with 2000 eyes which in my opinion is a mistake.
I was born in 1981- and most of the artists and their albums we are speaking of I got acquainted with via my cousins who were 4 and 8 years older than me respectively. So I have a childhood perspective of these artists. I also have my teenage perspective as well when I became fully immersed in hip-hop personally around the time Big, Nas, and Outkast came out. I am 40 now and have an adult perspective as well after listening to these artists for a little over 30 years now. I hope that gives you a little clarity.
LL gets slept on because he made a different type of music more for ladies and radio but he was a very slept on emcee but I agree lyrically yes he is on the back end of that list.. But Song for Song it’s a different conversion with LL
Rap became about real.life boss sucess! Businesses, Record Labels, Artists, Liqour & Clothing Deals, And a Real life connection to the streets! LL as time went on had none of this & has spent the last 20 years playing a cop on t.v . Im telling you he's one of the greatest but his aesthetic of just being a dope rapper made him practically invisible to younger consumers. To them he's the guy on N.C.I.S

LL is top 5. Come on guys. He out shined dudes in the 90"s also, like red and meth , dmx, epmd on songs. Give that man his flowers. I was there when he started. I was at the latin quarters, union Square and many other 80's spots. I seen all of them at one point. He deserves his spot. He head lined in the Garden with those same guys
Im sorry but the Rabbit had the gun and that was Kane who caught a body with his breath control swag and lethal freestyles. Big Daddy Kane was in his 🛍️ the whole night. KRS did his thing but he used the crowd more to recite his lyrics while Kane spit all of his own shit. Kane bullied the Bronx Bully and that's facts.

LL was the best before Rakim and Krs came out imo...he ties Slick Rick for 5th on my list. TOP 4 Krs, Ra, Kane, G Rap. Those who think Rakim is the best, I ain't mad though. Rakim doesn't have a Poetry or 9mm in his catalog, and he doesn't freestyle, so I lean toward KRS. My boy Rick, I always said if he did more than tell stories he would probably be number 1
Why is grown men hesitant to say Krs lost. Kane has bigger hits than Krs. How can you actually win a battle if you sound like 🐕💩. This is based on preference, Kane humiliated him. It doesnt matter what you guys say about LL if all the rap greats sat down at the dinner table . LL is setting at the head of the dinner table ! Totality !
To me in my opinion, LL's best verse was never from any of his albums. His best verse was on EPMD's 3rd LP, track called Rampage. That's when him and Parrish was throwin' joints at each other, peep the two styles
Ya'll said it, it was the Jingling Baby REMIX! It was a song from the previous album and he didn't change the lyrics AT ALL! He wrote/writes all of his joints! And he came out in 1985 with a solo album that built Rakim, Kane, KRS, G-Rap, etc. Slick Rick is the only one around the same time or before him.
The first concert I went to was DefJam tour at MSG, back in '88. LL.COOL J, RAKIM, Public Enemy and Stetsosonic. DOPE

I don't think KRS-1's performance made his streams or bookings increase. I think Kane's performance made his streams & bookings increase.
And when BDK and KRS was doing the freestyle Kane hit him with some RAPID 🔥🔥🔥lines and even slow mood. And KRS was short of breath couldn't remember his lines got shorter BREATHE got FRUSTRATED. Just wanted to mention, toward the end of the verzus segment you pose the question ; which of the collection of MCs you had been talking about (LL, Rakim, KRS, Kane etc.) would release the best project today, in 2021 going into 2022..KRS dropped a project, “Between the Protests” just in 2020. The album is fire , especially surrounding the current climate in America at the time. So I think that’s real difference maker in relation to the question . Cool show !
Facts! don’t fall for it and black black black, tight and boom bye bye, are 🔥🔥🔥
Don't forget "Street Lights" to!!!!!!!
LL would have to battle BUSTA RHYMES !!! THATS A FAIR BATTLE.
LL=🐐🐐🐐
Man, these dudes are sniffing....Jingling Bab6 best verse of LL bars wise 🤣🤣🤣. These dudes don't know bars...at least to the level they need to based off of that quote.
Jinglin Baby was fire...but lyric wise....not even a top 50 LL joint. When they said that i knew they were suspect.
@@theo5983 No doubt!!
Rakim & LL on impact alone. 1 & 2
LL is top 5 along with Rakim , Kane KRS-1 , Kane , and G Rap. LL has many styles and is very versatile. Slick Rick is ill with the pen!
In no particular order:
Rakim
LL
Big L
Biggie
Kane
KRS
Eminem
Jay-Z
NaS
Lil Wayne
… Top 10 dopest rappers of All Time.
@@gaffle-411 Dope list. Lil Wayne over Kool G Rap?
Krs is still droppin albums every year or two. We gotta get our facts straight.
LL Cool J was relevant for 3 decades with big hits , but I love all 6 MC's mentioned!!
LL have a crazy catalog
Rakim is really on of the best but battle rap krs one will smoke rakim, he aint a proformer
I'm totally ignorant to the background of these gentlemen, so they have me wondering if they were around and really analyzing lyrics at the time they came out, or are they looking at the 80s era with 2000 eyes which in my opinion is a mistake.
LL influence being downplayed big time is a clear indication you are correct sir.
These Brothers know Hip Hop.
ll even wrote some of run dmc and mc lyte
KRS has 23 albums. Rakim hasn’t done nearly as much.
LL gets slept on because he made a different type of music more for ladies and radio but he was a very slept on emcee but I agree lyrically yes he is on the back end of that list.. But Song for Song it’s a different conversion with LL
LL is top 3 in that era in lyrics. Y'all forget Till The Break of Dawn
Yall dont listen to his latest?
Rap became about real.life boss sucess! Businesses, Record Labels, Artists, Liqour & Clothing Deals, And a Real life connection to the streets! LL as time went on had none of this & has spent the last 20 years playing a cop on t.v . Im telling you he's one of the greatest but his aesthetic of just being a dope rapper made him practically invisible to younger consumers. To them he's the guy on N.C.I.S
Dude in the the glasses don’t know what he talking bout ll was still relevant after 1995
He krush canibus in 97 had hits still,
4321 >1997
ill bomb >1999
4seasons verse on blabckout> 1999
Luv u better>2002
Paradise>summer 2003 banger
Krs hasn’t stopped releasing albums which are good, also nas beats jay, nas has bsides illmatic & it was written alone
Hey, yall need to listen to LL'S Walking with a panther album! Listen to Nitro, and It gets no rougher! You want street joints, here you go: LL and Santana, 4,3,2,1 The Ripper Strikes back, To da break of dawn, I shot ya, I'll bomb, THE GOAT, Boomin System! Last thing, if all those guys went on tour, L would go last period! Yall have to get passed the street records, it's more to rap, than hardcore!
Even LL Cool J's song and the doo-wop is great. And that is a story for you
Hell yeah, forgot about the Doo Wop. Fire storytelling
KRS ONE IS THE BEST WUTH HIS LONGGIVITY. STOP IT. AND HE SAID IT, NO ONE INCLUDING RAKIM WILL CHALLENGE HIM . Case close
Ahhh Biggie wrote junior mafia, Lil Kim, plus his two albums plus puffy album and was working on the commission album with Jay z and working on a album with fat joe. Let’s remember….
Krs, LL, rakim, Kane, that order, also LL gets a bad rap because he made songs for ladies and he was selling records so they hate on him, but no was was krushing him lyrically on the mic in a battle. 14shots to da dome was 🔥
I don't know about it being 🔥but Straight From Queens on that album may be his best song"lyrically"
Krs ain't better than Kane.
Kane just ripped him lyrically crushed him.
And you think he can handle Rakim evil beat him Lyrically and production wise
And He can't GET 1 ROUND AGAINST LL .
THERE NOT IN THE SAME LEAGUE.
@@goatjamesizbrixmoneysauce4207 krs catalog speaks for itself
Jail is the only thing that slowed Slick Rick down.
Hey yall let me put yall up on some true history with this LL stuff. He was lyrically better than most rappers hat he came out with and started branchingout. His lyrics were always up to par but he got blackballed and kept going but if you ever go back and listen to what LL was spitting.he had verses and his Dj's scratches were always on point. He is HIP HOP. He out performs most Mc's period Andy favorite but niggaz must been sleeping cause LL is the shiton that Mic on any stage. Go back and listen foreal hit me up
LL is top 5.
Thats ill son. Legendary!
4,3,2,1 LL GOAT
Im sorry but the Rabbit had the gun and that was Kane who caught a body with his breath control swag and lethal freestyles. Big Daddy Kane was in his 🛍️ the whole night. KRS did his thing but he used the crowd more to recite his lyrics while Kane spit all of his own shit. Kane bullied the Bronx Bully and that's facts.
LL is the greatest of all time. Nobody has the catalog L has. You guys has no idea of what you talking about. Count the platinum albums he has. L is just a king one the thrown.
This entire convo was really great!
Forget the hits...LL is better than Slick Rick, and more diverse than Kool G Rap!
#Facts
You got Kool G Rap Fucked Up....
Agreed.
In that era My Top 5 is 1. LL Cool J 2. Rakim 3.Big Daddy Kane 4.KRS One 5. Slick Rick/ Kool G Rap that’s a hard one
😂😂😂
Why would Nas not want to do a Verzuz? he’s a competitor! Hate me Now will definitely be on the Verzuz list tho
LL’s strongest songs lyrically are Nitro, It gets no rougher, Why do you think they call it dope, and his guest verse on Epmd’s Rampage. Y’all are bugging!?
Original Rock the Bells "12" version
@@renfredcherry8935 “During this episode vocally I explode” ?
Walking with a panther was LLs best album lyrically
@@locks4 agreed
Would have loved if KRS had performed "Hot" - underrated early 2000s track in his catalog.
LL Cool J and Run-DMC built the WHOLE house that we know as Hip Hop today. They are above everybody else! They are not In Hip Hop, Hip Hop comes from THEM. The parameter for Hip Hop was Made by Run DMC and LL Cool J so... You had to be there to understand because nothing that exists now can even compare to the magnitude of those 2 groups.
Jay-Z has done two B-side only concerts with two different sets of B-Sides. I love Nas but Jay-Z got too many ways to win.
the only people that would never want to acknowledge Jays catalogue is a Nas fan. But we know Jay got a deep bag he can pull from
Love the content and channel. However LL's I'm Bad was a crazy album.
I don't know what you gentlemen are talking about but LL Cool j lyrically has bars . you forget about 1 2 3 with red man method Man, DMX, and don't forget the joint he did with fat Joe, foxy Brown, and then if you go back to his first album lyrically I need a beat, and you talking about stories don't forget about milky off the bad album, and my rhyme ain't done LL is a lyrical Giant and storyteller, performer the whole package 📦
Yall got LL fukked up! All them rappers in that Era was jealous of young Todd!
Check out The Original Rock the Bell and You'll Rock! Yall fools trippin'. 🤔
Nobody has him fucked up. We love LL. It is okay to not agree with our opinions 🤷🏾♂️
Y’all trippin on LL smh
Kane killed dat shit period freestyle krs had the records but Kane won verzuz it's a difference krs mic was to loud and couldn't hear the shit you even seen it in krs face when Kane was showing versatility
15:00 THE G.O.A.T. album didn't exist huh 😆
Great discussion brothas ! 💯✊🏿
RAKIM VS LL COOL J !!??
Respect to Big Daddy Kane, but KRS-One edged him out in a classic battle!
When Krs One started out with Criminal Minded we all knew what time it was! Peace!
No mentions of Kool Moe Dee. These dudes don't know damn thing about hip hop. 🙏🏾
LL IS A BEAST
Where do u rank black thought from the Roots 🤔
LL was the best before Rakim and Krs came out imo...he ties Slick Rick for 5th on my list. TOP 4 Krs, Ra, Kane, G Rap. Those who think Rakim is the best, I ain't mad though. Rakim doesn't have a Poetry or 9mm in his catalog, and he doesn't freestyle, so I lean toward KRS. My boy Rick, I always said if he did more than tell stories he would probably be number 1
Make no mistake Public Enemy is #1 in that category
If biggie was still alive it would've been a game changer
Why is grown men hesitant to say Krs lost. Kane has bigger hits than Krs. How can you actually win a battle if you sound like 🐕💩. This is based on preference, Kane humiliated him. Krs can’t fuck with no LL, what are you guys talking about? I get it this is about being tuff. Rest In Peace Guru would smash KRS.
I agree bro but it's more podcasts staying the same thing Kane has flows wordplay and more krs1 is just yelling at the crowd but he did not rap the entire time ..
I agree .. I didn’t think it was close .. both guys were impressive for their age .. but Kane was flawless !! I think it marketing but KRS was outta breath the whole nite! I had Kane winning
Y'all can't be old enough to have live thru that time...L was the 1st goat....1st to have the game on smash...you had to be there like old enough to go to parties n shit...not like less that 12 yrs old at 85'
LL is top 5 on my list
For Me...how and when those songs found me (quality not quantity) it's Rakim, KRS, LL, Mos, Kane...G-rap
It doesnt matter what you guys say about LL if all the rap greats sat down at the dinner table . LL is setting at the head of the dinner table ! Totality !
yo what was the name of the last song krsone did with slick rick on the hook?
Top of the late 80's in lyrics
Krs-1, Rakim, LL Cool J, Chuck D , Kool G Rap, MC Lyte, Slick Rick, EPMD, Slick Rick, Kool Moe Dee
