    Yep my family was there, and still, glad someone covered this, everyone wasn't struggling all the time, many blks in early D.C. were thriving entrepreneurs as early as the 1800s, some just out of slavery.

      Thank you. Some people think all black Americans live a life of constant struggle and some of our people are the main ones pushing this narrative.

    My Grandparents lived on Martha's Vineyard, so we visited every summer growing up. I still go up regularly, including last year. The Vineyard is my favorite beach destination and I'm so glad we live close enough to go anytime.

    i have been going to Martha's Vineyard since 2008. it is absolutely the greatest place i've ever been. i think about it everyday. and yes, there is still a large, thriving Black community of accomplished Black people there today. it is a different mindset on the island. it is all love. don't let "Our Kind Of People" fool you. that tv show is far from what the island truly is.

    I agree with the brother at the end. In fact you can argue it's the same today as it was then, if not worse.

    • @ahnraemenkhera7451
      @ahnraemenkhera7451 3 роки тому +2

      It’s worse, because back then, having a profession meant that you were at least acquainted well enough with Economics not to believe that “purchasing” made you “rich.”
      Today, despite all of the people who have graduated with degrees in Math, Science, & Education since 1968, ownership of capital among ADOS adults has steadily declined as non-investment purchasing & liability consumption have only increased. People bought into a false idea that you could be “in a class” by buying something big-while forgetting that it is only an asset IF it yields a return. So: LOTS of houses (owned by banks & not being rented out or leased) & LOTS of church buildings (no deeds, titles or dividends), & of course, a lotta cars-total liabilities that depreciate with use. Virtually 0.01 business ownership, business partnership, joint ventureship.

A Black Family struggling with colorism and other family issue. Dam good movie. Mike, Really would love to see this movie again here.

Also, I understand what the brotha' at the end of the video is saying, but it comes down to this. Many are called, and few are chosen, you can't help someone who doesn't want to receive it...
