I... honestly feel so bad for Hikaru...
The abuse he endured is sickening. It destroyed him to the point where every single word coming out of his mouth is a lie. He probably doesn't even know who he is, everything about him is fake, because his real self is... a child taken advantage of by an adult.
My theory now is that Hikaru did love Ai in a way. She was the one person who understood him. However, that also made her the one person who wouldn't let him escape his true self. She might have made him constantly feel like that child being victimized, and that's why he had to get rid of her.
Airi killed Hikaru's soul, and indirectly took the life of both her husband and Ai.
Hikaru sent that super-fan to Ai, but Airi is the true villain imo.

Just making it into "this one dude is the villain" would go against that. He is a villain, but it goes deeper than that.
Also, with how willing this story has been to draw attention to the SA of males, I suspect the author doesn't want to portray Hikaru (a CSA survivor) as this evil monster. There might be something more.
I finally know what the stars in the eyes mean. White is the beautiful lies that draw people in, while the black stars are the ugly truth people reject but it's only in those moments that their true feelings is revealed.
To me this chapter really explains the stars in the eyes of Ai, Hikaru, Ruby, Aqua. It really shows that all of them are liars. But I think something epic might happen, because all of that. I feel like Hikaru wanted to protect Ai, but was too afraid to admit it. At this point I just don't know what will happen next. Great review.😃

Woah... When you write this, I suddenly have a theory. What if Ai and Hikaru's love is the only genuine thing between them and that's why Ruby and Aqua only have one staringa eye? Both have staringas on both eyes but strangely, the twins only have staringa only on one eye each as though about half of their reality is a lie. What if the reason why they're born this way is because Ai and Hikaru's love is the only genuine thing in between?
Actually there are moments when Star appears in both of Aqua and Ruby's eyes and personally I think that is indication of something else than lies. It's an indication of commitment to a certain goal. Good one when the star is white, bad one when star is black.😁
Yeah, and technically they're both lying too. They're reincarnated fans of Ai who remember their pasts and never even admitted it to each other until way later.

My thoughts:
Hikaru is doing all his Ted Bundy shit in twisted honor of Ai. Not because he hates her. They never had a falling out. I have a feeling he was one of the few people who actually saw and _loved_ the real her. And that spooked Ai a bit so they "broke" up so she can think about it/give birth in peace. When Ai called him to come meet their kids? He was probably excited to do so on the other end of the line.
But then Ai got murdered. And that sent him spiraling.
Aqua thinks Hikaru was the one who fed Ryousuke the info. But maybe that was someone else? Or Ryousuke genuinely found that out himself through simple, faithful stalking of Ai? Ryousuke also died soon after killing Ai. Maybe Ryousuke was actually killed by Hikaru? Maybe after being fed info about the guy by the real mastermind?
And I _really_ think we should look at Nino more. Because I have a feeling she's playing the Emperor to Hikaru's Darth Vader.
Then why would hikaru kill the other actress tho ?? I forgot her name but apparently she was the biggest actress in japan and hikaru took her out for some reason

The stalker killed Ai on the first episode/first volume. I think it’s both Hikaru and Nino. They’re definitely working together to a twisted plot to make that no one eclipses Ai.
Your Nino theory is plausable that much is true but it's kinda wishy washy on Hikaru. I do believe that Ai and Hikaru had a falling out. Because I doubt Hikaru knew of Ai's wish to have children and since both of them were quite young and in the entertainment business I doubt he wanted to risk his career. But after being called by Ai there's a fifty-fifty chance of him being the mastermind. Since the only other murder he did on sceen/manga he was the one who did the deed.

You never it was going to get real dark the second you saw in the last page Airi molest Hiakru. It's nice to see the "acting", but just remember that in chapter 97 Akane said that Hikaru "fathered" Taiki at 11. ELEVEN!!! Even with the acting, Frill in "that scene" was able to with her eyes portray power and control over Hikaru for years. The sick part is that sexual and mental abuse has been going on for years. In the next chapter, we will see how Hikaru and Ai "bond" over their lies and using their "lies" to protect themselves from the world. They have to or they crumble mentally and most likely commit suicide.
Even though Hikaru got Ai killed, I still show some sympathy towards him. If it wasn't for Airi taking advantage of him, I think he, Ai, Aqua and Ruby would had a great life.
In my eyes, personally, Hikaru is still a victim. Even when no one else sees it that way.
He's not a sadistic serial killer, he's a sympathetic murderer.

It's more about an AU where Airi gets Hikaru kill and SHE becomes the target Aqua and Ruby.
And in this AU Hikaru wants become a good father to his kids but they become skeptical of him. He starts doubting himself but with Ai alive, he'll get through it.

She even says she's the same as Hikaru which further backs up my theory. Ruby might have only showed a fraction of Ai's hatred but it was enough to show us Ai hated everyone. (Remember she was only a normal frail girl with a messed childhood which led her to have a twisted ideology of love)

I think Hikaru's hatred was similar to true Ai's feelings, if you think about it ruby's acting was somewhat identical to this hatred that we see now, hikaru hated this airi girl because she made him do things he hated, he hated her behaviour because it was "intolerable". Ruby hated how they turned ai into this "invincible" idol for her it was intolerable.
I think we should look at Nino more.

Everybody seems to mention alabama as the capital of yk, but nobody talks about how common incest was everywhere around the world including the US.
This was probably hands down the best chapter since you started reviewing ONK chapters. However, I have to disagree with your suggestion that Ai knowing Hikaru's secret is the reason he offed her, I think that's actually the reason her fell in love with her. I think the reason he offed her is probably something having to do with love. Perhaps spite out of her breaking up with him, perhaps jealousy over her children, or perhaps even just a sick, twisted, perverted form of lust that he mistook for love thanks to Airi's actions teaching him the wrong lessons about what love should be.
This would tie in very well to ONK's themes about love in my opinion as well. In my opinion, Oshi No Ko is a story that asks the question, What is love? (baby don't hurt me)
Okay but jokes that will inevitably date myself aside, I genuinely do think that the question of what love is, and what it truly means to an individual, is one of the core themes of ONK. So to compare Hikaru's twisted form of love to Ai's pure form of love, and how Hikaru is unafraid to put all of his twisted feelings on display and act on them, whereas Ai's pure love for her children is something that is truly frightening to her, so much so that she can't admit it until it's too late.
In the words of the great George Lucas: "It's like poetry, it rhymes"
Also, side note, I don't think this is Hikaru and Ai that we're seeing in this chapter. For one, the chapter seems to be a little oddly paced for a flashback chapter, as well as just oddly PLACED in terms of the overall narrative. Furthermore, if you look at Airi's eyes, they look very similar to another character with very distinct eyes who we already know about, and perhaps this could be a coincidence, but that character is Shiranui Frill. Yeah, I think either next chapter or the chapter after, it'll be revealed that the two characters in this chapter are actually Aqua and Ruby in their respective roles. Showing how far they've come with their roles that it is virtually indistinguishable from the real thing. Just a guess.
Wasn't it already pre-established that this whole scene along with previous chapter is actually just an act? The twins along with Frill are the ones acting as Ai, Hikaru and Airi

@@inaminayo5327 Pretty sure previous chapter actually put labels defining the roles of each character in the scene. Now it would be odd if it were an actual flashback though. It was probably Hikaru who wrote part of the script which showcases his past with Ai and Airi
No one living knows, what really happened then. They are free to show it whatever they want. We want to have horny from twins, and that how we will get it, sad.
But there is something weird, you noticed it too. Frill shiranui's eyes. The eyes in this manga is important. Frill is hikaru's daughter. I guess.

Now these past couple of chapters make me wonder "What the hell did that actress whom Hikaru murdered in the mountains do to deserve her fate"? Like is there something else like did she have a dark side as well?
Maybe he just became crazy. But, we saw with ruby and aqua that only people with a really dark side usually have stars on their eyes (all liars, they are the ones who reach the top of this broken industry). This is why aqua lost his stars when he gave up on vengence. I think he just became a psycho though, trauma does this with humans.

If it weren't for Airi, Ai and Hikaru would have totally made a good couple.
True they could've been so cute in a different circumstance, but at the end of the day they were both traumatized teenagers who had their own warped perception of love maybe a relationship could've worked out but I don't think they could've with their own past experiences, their age, and other factors involved they couldn't dedicate the time needed to build a real relationship.
There is a chance they both just... Gave up when they couldn't fall for eachother upon having intercourse
Their relationship could've gone either way it could've ended the way it did canonically, or they could've both related to eachother and found love in another universe there's always that possibility

What you say makes some sense, but without Hikaru, there wouldn't be Aqua or Ruby - the main characters. So Hikaru remains a certain key figure in Oshinoko, even if he is involved in Ai's death.

Like dang. I'm an anime-only and I got supremely spoiled but its on me. I wanted to know, and to say I am sickened to the core. It is disgusting how this woman is rapping a child. His soul is twisted up by this and to find a twisted soul too in Ai who knows how he would feel in that moment. Fear, suprise, relief? Or peace? The storyline is so intense and even though its gross, I give props to the manga highlighting these atrocities that happen in acting. How children are taken advantage off, and how women can be pedophiles and predators too. Ugh I'm so disturbed. Man I wonder if him sponsoring this movie in a way is him letting the truth be known. For Ai death and his innocence to be known how it was taken.

Yeah I actually find myself questioning that too, the manga seems to push the agenda that Hikaru was the one who killed Ai throughout the story too many times that I find it a bit suspicious maybe it's a red herring, Hikaru is obviously still a murderer but I think there's more to the story then what we know.
But there's also one flaw in this Hikaru was literally the only person Ai told her address to if he in the most unlikeliest scenario did not leak it then who could've possibily done it?

No this was just added in story plot to fit a actual and better reason why Ai has to die and make aqua lose and become the person he is which causes him to tell Ruby why he can’t be the doctor she once loved who smiled all the time. The legitimate reason why AI was killed of was because she would’ve gotten in the way of her kid’s revenge and back story of them leading up to now and causing it so much harder for the author to make character development for aqua and ruby who have been the reason for the other characters to have a development, which if AI was still alive it would’ve been difficult to focus of AI and the twins at the same time. Switch the author even admits that killing AI was a better choice because than aqua and ruby wouldn’t have needed to grow up or turn out the way it is in the manga

So it's more likely Ai told Aqua about Hikaru from the tapes she recorded for him in ch 130 without mentioning Hikaru's name she may have revealed their relationship to Aqua

The story is so juicy! The picture being painted is that Hikaru is a victim turned monster but this chapter suggests that this may not be the case. It can go either way right now and it’s so exciting to see.
