Thank you for more one lesson. Keep posting. Your analysis is the best in net, not just because of your great "what if's" and the exposing of reasons that motivate the moves, but also because you do that in a dynamic, clear and detailed language. Knowledge and teaching skills!
There is no way I would have ever been able to decipher what was going on here without your superb analysis. A true "open" game with unobstructed piece play.
This is one of the best video presentations I've ever seen, and believe me, I've seen over 1,000 (a few chess vids only) Keep up the good work, I don't know how you do it but it's brilliant
This analysis is the equal of anything I have ever read. It is much easier to follow using the video format. Your choices of when to analyze variations are excellent. I would imagine that you yourself are a strong player, I would guess that you are rated somewhere in the 2350 range. Thanks for posting.
que espectacular el juego de Anand me dejo impresionado de la forma como saca ventaja no se el ingles pero los movimientos lo dicen todo jejjejeej muy bueno...
Can you please upload videos more often.I like your videos.They are actually better than computer analysis.Computer analysis just contain all these compicated positions.Yours are much simpler.
BLOODY AWESOME ANALYSIS and EXPLANATION.....!! especially with all those ARROWS and stuff.....too good....the commentary too is descent....some pronounciations like RUY as in ruy lopez r differnt sounding....but still awesome video :))
@ChessNetwork Uhmm am not too familiar with the annotations. I still cant find it :) But really ..good job on the commenting. I like your videos and it grips me from start to finish. So thank you a lot for such well explained videos!
5:03 why is this a weak square? white has 2 pieces that can attack that square. What am I missing there? I know this video is 13 years old but I'm a chess novice looking to make some strides. These videos are incredible and I will binge every single one of them on your channel!
It has to do with a lack of pawn defence. Video #13 in the below playlist goes into detail. Happy understanding 👍 Beginner to Chess Master ua-cam.com/play/PLQsLDm9Rq9bHKEBnElquF8GuWkI1EJ8Zp.html&si=l2NtHjqkSv93U8Yd
This is the kind of tedious game most kibitzers would fall asleep when watching but these numerous QRB maneuvers really distinguish the game between standard chess and super-gm chess
Well, you can't really do that in my opinion since white can reply with his dark square bishop to a3 with which he either forces the bishop exchange or lures that black bishop out of that diagonal on which he guards the d6 square which is a fork threat of the knight on c4 (queen-rook-bishop fork). That bishop is the only defense of that square at the moment or at least that's how i see it..
it'd be perfect if you spent some time on commenting the opening for noobs like me but overall i really liked this v instructive commentary. keep it up
@ChessNetwork pardon me i'm a beginner. for some reason i was thinking if the bishop took the pawn on h7 after Ng5 it would be check mate but for some reason i didnt think about the king just moving over.
thinking from the beginning, i was wondering why white didn´t take the pawn on e4 with the knight, it was a central pawn, was not covered... and it could be relocated after if attacked, and the white bishop from b4 to a3... i always thought that was a bad move because of black pawn b7 to b5....
@noxure : This is one of the penances you must pay to become a truly good player. If you can't win boring endings, you are just leaving points at the table.
Then rook to d8 and the game's over. *If he brings back his queen, then rook takes queen (d8xf8) and if bishop takes rook (g7xf8) then the queen takes pawn (e6xf6) and game's over. He can check till he gets every piece cause black has no defence. *If he blocks rook(d8) with bishop then queen takes pawn (e6xf6) and game's over fast.
I think that knight on a5 is alot more than a headache to black, black loses the bishop pair. The only safe square for the bishop is c8, and then Nc6 wins the queen. Black will have to trade.
If they exchanged queens then white's rook would take the black queen putting him in check. black would have to block with either his bishop or his rook and then white would take whatever piece black decided to block with and end up being up in material.
@websnarf True. But those are just points, I'm one of those weird people who like enjoying a game more than winning. It's brilliant because that attitude pisses some people off, especially when I beat them. ;-)
@websnarf Oh, and I really do like long end-games. It's like yin and yang swirling around or anaconda slowly killing it's prey... until the anaconda gets cocky. :)

nice to see another top level game with the 1. e4 opening. I also appreciate how you explain many alternative variations. Great job!

@lebarosky Thanks for taking the time to really such feedback lebarosky.
thanks for showing a vishy game - i think he is sort of underappreciated, generally speaking.
Fabulous commentary...!
It'd be great to see more games like this in the lead-up to the match, cheers

Breathtaking game. Thank you jerry
Thanks much, awesome analysis to a great game.
i used to play chess in uscf tournaments... but i stopped around 3 years ago. I want to get back into chess though, i love it!
Awesome analysis! This is my first time to watch a game analyzed by ChessBase. I've subscribed to your channel :) Thanks!
As always, well done. Thanks
@CalgaryAlpineStyle Thank you. I've read thousands of comments, and this is ranked very high on the compliment list. :)

@rsobhee Thx for the feedback. A little box appears @ 23:05
Woot all right good analysis Jerry! Gave me a break from studying :D

nice commentary. thx
@jrc2k I think Rc8 was a bit new. Nb6 was played previously.
@gunblade712 They have played this variation before. Nb6 was played instead of Rc8. It highlights those weakened squares as you noted. :)
awesome. Thank for pointing out the traps.
@TapeofScotch Nxd captures a pawn. Why play Ng5?
@ChessNetwork Uhmm am not too familiar with the annotations. I still cant find it :) But really ..good job on the commenting. I like your videos and it grips me from start to finish. So thank you a lot for such well explained videos!
@HardieUK Thanks! :)
@rsobhee Vishy. Video annotation reads "Black Resigns" after Rc2.

@jessicafischerqueen Thanks Jess. Did you stop posting chess videos?
Thanks man!
@Teranex I posted a notation in the video. After Rc2 Black resigns.
What a deep game and a well played endgame from Anand.
Awesome Jerry!!

amazing video ! SUBSCRIBED!
Totally spaced out during that end-game, it was like watching someone grind coffee. ;)

viswanathan anand rocks
nice video
Wow what a patient and technically meticulous end game.
@TheChessMaster1245 Thanks Master! :)
"...queen watching the game from the side line"
Maybe he didn't come up with this saying but it is sooo awsesome

wow, what a commentary!
Proud to be an Indian!
What were the time controls on the match? I don't think you said.
great job :)
i'm impressed by the fork ending
why not def that 9b pawn at 9:10 with queen instead ?
Then rook to d8 and the game's over.
*If he brings back his queen, then rook takes queen (d8xf8) and if bishop takes rook (g7xf8) then the queen takes pawn (e6xf6) and game's over. He can check till he gets every piece cause black has no defence.

at 9:23, why not Knight to g5?
yes but who won?
Magnus Carlsen won the tournament with thirteen points (four wins,two losses,one draw).
who won the match?
@nicoeste8765 Great! Good to know it's helping you to improve. :)
i feel like i learned something important but i don't know what it is
@antonio8332 Because of BxQ
@LiiChinHo Numbers....
Take Rook & lose Knight = 2 point win
OR
Take Bishop = 3 point win
Ah, now I see. thank you.
Who won?
I think that knight on a5 is alot more than a headache to black, black loses the bishop pair. The only safe square for the bishop is c8, and then Nc6 wins the queen. Black will have to trade.
21:34 why not Rf8?
"Vishy" is a cool nickname for "Viswanathan"...
If they exchanged queens then white's rook would take the black queen putting him in check. black would have to block with either his bishop or his rook and then white would take whatever piece black decided to block with and end up being up in material.
At 11:37, is taking the rook bad? Or is that just not decisive enough? As a greedy amateur, I'd probably capture the rook 99% of the time.
@antonio8332 And after 1..... Bxd3 2. Rxe1 Rxe1 white basically exchanged a queen and a rook for a queen.
17:48 why not Queen takes a3 bishop??? I cannot come with an analysis that proves this move wrong.
@sesquipedalianorator Thx ses
Take that, Carlsen
Jerry is getting back *.*
which one is ANAND? black or whiye
a baby sitter for the c3 pawn !! loooooooool
@yormahmz :)
Who else would rather play chess960? I mean at this point, professional chess is like a spelling bee.
@websnarf True. But those are just points, I'm one of those weird people who like enjoying a game more than winning. It's brilliant because that attitude pisses some people off, especially when I beat them. ;-)
Crlsen Resigned
Man why didn't Vishy see that tactic?
This is just like fischer vs spassky :l
@websnarf Oh, and I really do like long end-games. It's like yin and yang swirling around or anaconda slowly killing it's prey... until the anaconda gets cocky. :)
11:32 why didn't white take the rook???
Anand won!
Who watches this in 2024😎
First is not important.
I was speaking of k ingcrusher's chess site chessworl d . net
hmmm... so carlsen lost? Looks like he has a while to go.
Are you deaf? He said Anand was playing white right in the beginning.
Anand (White)
LOL
