Jogeir - the musical genius of his time!
In order to give credit where credit is due, Jochen Hippel's "A Prehistoric Tale (Main Theme)" certainly deserves a mention here...
For many years, um, decades, I believed this may be the best Amiga track ever written. Then I learned about Hippel’s original. I still believe it’s one of the best but it has two fathers now :) Jogeir pretty much - masterfully - copied the original but he must deserve credit for not only rearranging it using higher quality samples but for adding the hypnotic arpeggio part at the end, which I love the most and the original didn’t have. Thank you Jochen and Jogeir for the melodies and the memories!

I've spoken to Jochen on two occasions regards this song. Initially at STNICCC in 2000 in Utrecht, he was totally unaware of Jogeir's cover - I think the main bone of contention at the time was that Jochen was totally uncredited in the Amiga FLT Fullmoon end part (which this tune is from), strange.. I met Jochen a few months back (December 2015) and again he brought this up..... seems Mad Max wasn't the only original composer that Jogeir 'borrowed' from!
Yep, J. is well known for such practices. Some suspect that they didn't care to give proper credits because they though it is obvious to everyone. But that caused some confusion later.

Not based on : it is almost a strict cover. Only a few new measures were added on the original (at 5:00), and the end is different. Arrangements and sounds are very close.
Pretty much an exact copy of Jochen's fantastic original, which is of course fine as long as credit is given :)

Edit: Welp, just read the comments... I guess he’s controversial. I wonder if his track Latenite is completely original? Because it’s one of my all time favorite tracks, and I’ve been obsessed with it lately.
Most of his tracks are original compositions - some (like this) are remixes. Remixing songs back in those days was really commonplace in the demo scene.
@@djmiketjg And the community of composers was so small at that point, everyone sort of knew each-other's songs, so that Jogeir didn't credit Jochen was likely not out of malice, but more a case of "Yeah, but...you all KNOW this song, right?"
not going to lie, i feel like geowizard has attempted to replicate this type of style in his videos. i hear a lot of similarities between jogeir's and his music!
As for not crediting Hippel, bear in mind that Jogeir was the musician, not the programmer of the Fullmoon demo. It's conceivable that Jogeir told the programmers to include a credit in scrolltext or something, but the programmers forgot about it. Just speculation, though.

Although the original version is beautiful in its own way, I must say I like Jogeir's version better. It's pity he didn't properly credit Jochen Hippel though :(

Sorry again, but it is not a remake, neither a remix, neither a song based on the Jochen Hippel one.
It is just the work of J. Hippel.
Rigor Master .Vivir Sin Vender rigor is mostly right... imo Jogier didnt do much but make the second solo boring and ruin the synth phasing, kind of a shame Hippel isnt getting all the credit. though it is infact a conversion which did take a little work by jogeir
MIND SINK GAMES I think totally the opposite - Jogeir's version actually has an end which Hippel's doesn't, and his second solo meanders in a dull way that Jogeir simply avoids by building down nicely.
This is a remix. Jogeir Liljedahl made a cover/remix of Jochen Hippel's original song from the Amiga. If you listen to both of them you can clearly hear they're using different samples and timings. I personally like Jochen's version a lot more than this, but it's still a remix in its own right.
