I love XC, was great to revisit the game after 10 years, but gotta say I do prefer XC2 combat. I'm interested to see where the franchise goes in the future
I agree. I prefer xenoblade 1's writing and world, but it's weird going back to this combat style. I keep trying to do cancel attacks.
I agree. XC2 evolves the combat in a really satisfying way. Still great to revisit the game though 😝
I hated the combat in 2 it felt slow and clunky.
@@wintersong2266 It only feel that way at start though. When you can get actual builds going and have full party members/slots it a pretty fun experience. Especially in Torna.
But moving around is kinda slow in XC2 and in XC1 the are more arts that you can use from the start of the battle. I love both games though.

Dido , I have put in 120hrs now beaten main game and future connected , it is so good.I am now completing all the side quests I missed and maxing out all my characters, then I am taking on the superbosses.
This is my favorite game of all time!! I’m on my New Game + run trying to 100% the game to the best of my ability which is something I’ve never done and something I didn’t really want to do for this game. But after finishing the game, I just got sucked into the world. The combat, world, exploration, music, story, and content are just amazing. Definitely recommend it to anyone and everyone
I love both, but I still feel like XC2 looks better visually.

Sidequest tracking has been absolute godsend, and I no longer feel the need to ragequit the game when I can't figure out where to go, lol.
I mainly have to play the game on my Lite (still looks great, so I don't mind), but the husband is currently away for work so I finally get to experience this masterpiece on my TV!
Just finish the game,and this is my first time played it....Damn the storyline in this game have alot of plot twist.

Kind of to be expected, it's made by the creator of Xenogears. Xenoblade is to a large extent a reimagining of Fei's plot:
A guy with a mysterious past is introduced to an object of mysterious power. During an invasion from the enemy nation, his love interest is killed which gets him to travel off on his adventure. Along the way, he discovers that higher powers are at work in manipulating the lower wars. It turns out that the main character is actually an incarnation of the messiah; and the main female character is the incarnation of another sacred figure. The "god" of the game, that the messiah/main character is linked to, has a technological origin dating back 10,000 years prior to the game's events. The most powerful nation of the world has a racial segregation issue, and the pure blooded ones will change into weapons when the god of the world activates them; as well, there are forces within the Empire that are experimenting on bringing out that genetic destiny of people prior to the trigger going off - non-pure bloods don't transform. And, of course, the theme of a mixture of human and machine.
While the actual settings and details of the stories differ, the barebones plot elements of Xenoblade are mostly all present in Xenogears. Some of the bigger differences are that the little fuzzball characters play a much bigger role in Xenoblade, there is nothing like Frontier Village in any of the other games. Alcamoth is like a mini-Solaris - Solaris takes things a lot further in having multiple levels of society based largely on Aldous Huxley's Brave New World class structure - except class structure was based on blood purity, so the first class, the smallest, lived in Mansions and such, and were the purest. The second, lived in the main metropolis, and the third class were those with very little Solarian blood, and were generally used as slave labour, and even for experimentation in Krelian's laboratory. The Homs vs. Mechon struggle is similar to that of Aveh vs. Kislev, although in Xenoblade this is a much bigger focus than Xenogears - in Xenogears, it becomes apparent that the struggle between Aveh and Kislev are being manipulated in the grand scheme of an even larger war (if you're familiar with Babylon 5, it's kind of on the level of the lower races fighting a war, while being manipulated by the galactic superpowers - the Shadows and Vorlons - itself being a sci-fi reimagining of a three major stories: the Cold War, The Silmarillion, and The War of the Ring)

@@lindenstromberg6859 I didn t read all your message to avoid spoilers (I lost memories of the plot since my first playthrough on the Wii and actually having a blast on the Switch version)but what I can say is that Xenoblade is a reimaginating of the original game in its overall storyline construction indeed. Due to Squarenix owning the Xenogears copyrights, it was no longer possible to do a remake of it. Maybe one day would they buy the license? And make the original Perfect Work be a reality on screen again ?
I just beat the main story last night I just started future connected I love it all Xenoblade is my favourite Nintendo game
When I first played it a year or so ago on the Wii. It instantly became my favorite game of all time. 20 years of gaming but it still took the spot. Without a doubt in my mind, my favorite.

Dom Dom it’s not nearly as good as 1 and 2. Don’t let x put you off the rest of the series. The storytelling is much better in the other 2

@@domymbd XCX is great but XB1 is much better. Don't be fooled XCX combat is very satisfying where the monsters damage parts on their bodies makes the game addictive to play. Then the big open world where you can use mechs later on give a great freedom to explore. XCX does have a LOT to offer in weapons, sidequest & the story does get you wanting to hang on to it to find out what more so yeah it's good.
I played the original one on the wii, is it really worth getting this if its not that different from the original?
I wish I could play Xenoblade, Dragon quest 11, and trials of Mana but I'm moving in my new apartment next month. I promise when I get done doing all of my adult stuff. I plan on buying all three at the same time. 🤷🏾♂️
All 3 amazing games, especially Xenoblade and DQ11S are both masterpieces.
Trials of Mana is also great, you will have a great time with all of them.
Also very important they are all very easy going, they dont require a lot of searching (where I need to go and what I have to do next etc.), grinding etc.
Bro I’ve played Final Fantasy and Dragon quest ever since I was 10 years old I’m 25 now just started playing Xeno Chronicles 2 last week first ever Xeno game and I’m obsessed with it as soon as I get done with 2 I’m going straight into this.
I got this game on the day it came out and never played it before, I just moved to a new house that Saturday so I haven’t got the chance to even open the game. Can’t wait till I’m all settled in so I can kick back and just pour hours into this game. Great video

PlayerEssence and the Switch have introduced me to quite a few series. This being my first Xeno game, I'm enjoying it. Combat took a little getting used to but I'm grinding. Currently level 25, Chapter 5. Bouncing back between Sharla and Shulk for main. Good video 😎
Don't forget to watch tutorial videos. Because theres some things that the in-game tutorials hardly touch on.
I wish they would port X to the Switch and give it these QOL improvements.
X needs far more than just QoL improvements, honestly. It's the one that needs a full-on "remake" more than anything. If it only did as much as this game, it'd still have the absolute worst story.
I'd rather they just make a new game. Like most people, I'm on the side of enough no more WiiU ports

I played Xenoblade 2 as my very first Xenoblade game and I absolutely loved it. One of my favorite JRPGs ever & one of my favorite Switch games. I just ordered the Definitive Works Set for XC:DE, I'm so hyped to revisit the Xenoblade Chronicles universe.
You won't be disapointed? I absolutely LOVE XC2. So far I still like XC2 more but XC1 is growing on me... the story gets amazing half-way through and the worlds are just insane. Some great quality of life improvements too. Both games are 10/10 for me. Never played XCX

The best thing they added was marking the item/enemy/person you need for a quest on the map. Saves so much wasted time searching

Even before the Definitive Edition I've always said that this game was the best in the series, purely based off an overall balance of what the game is trying to achieve. Compare that to the other ones and XC-1 is the most solid entry, but that doesn't take anything away from the other games which all have their good points. Now with the quality of life improvements, this game is even more sensational.
Still my favorite in the series as an overall package. Story, Characters, World Building, and especially the Music. 2 and X are solid followups in the series but they have their fair share of issues. I'm excited to see where Monolith Soft take XC3 next despite my hope for their next project to be a non-Xeno game.

I'm also addicted to this game! To be honest the combat system is not what makes me like this game, I play in casual mode, but the universe, the characters, the story with its plot twist, is just incredible and I'm always on the edge of my seat during the cutscenes. I never played that game before so according to what you said, I'm really glad I didn't. I loved all Xenoblade games I played, X, 2, definitive edition, Torna the golden country, so I'm really looking forward to what they will do in the future, these people know how to use their creativity and imagination and that's what I'm looking for the most in a game.
I put 126 hours into the Wii original and am just over 40 into the Definitive Edition. Love it. However, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 beats it ever so slightly.

Back when i finished it the first time it easily became my favorite game of all time. Replaying it again has made me appreciate what was so great about it even more
But i think all the impovements thy made to the series from 2 and Definitive Edition could VASTLY improve X if they ever remaster it. One can only hope. But i think i know why they said it would be expensive now

Xenoblade2 is fun as much trust me both are great
There are things i prefer about XC2 when compared to XC1 and things i prefer about XC1. Both i enjoy a lot but both have negatives. I really can't say either is a better game than the other. I guess the quality of life improvements made in XC1 DE really do help and XC2 never really got those so XC1 is probably a more enjoyable experience for many. It's a very close call between the 2 other than that tho.

Only 6 hours in but I am loving it. So many cool systems from all of the exploration,quests,affinity, and skills/arts. Awesome game. I do have to agree with Miss Click though. After being spoiled by FF7R, I really do wish I could switch to other characters at any time since the AI isnt perfect. But with the Future sight mechanic and team links It really isnt a big issue. Story also great so far! Cant wait to finish this game, and play many of monolithsofts other games!
I will also say that I have not had any problems with the game in hand held. It still looks good enough for me to enjoy the game which is good enough for me.

It's my first time playing this game and I'm absolutely loving it. I love giant sprawling RPG's.
The story is definitely darker in places than Xenoblade two which was interesting to say the least. I kinda went into it expecting all the campy hijinks of the second game 😂
In my opinion Xenoblade has the best story, X is the most fun, and 2 is best waifu collector.
I only have 1 complaint... the game is to long. other than that it's amazing. it's not worth playing twice it's to long. but a 1 time is great

I am loving this game! I am playing it any chance. Only 12 hours in but its so much fun. I can not wait to see how this story unfolds. I Loved Xenoblade 2 so its exciting to play this one on the Switch as well!

I've not been to big of a JRPG fan in the past but I'm currently playing through this game and I'm enjoying it. I think it looks great in docked mode. Havn't played in hand held yet, so can't comment on that.
It still runs fine and is still fun in handheld if you have to play that way. However while it's a small downgrade, it feels like a major one knowing the remastered graphics was a big selling point for the game. I played the original a lot back in the day and it feels way better docked than handheld
Jrpgs is the genre that I live my life for. Play a couple more jrpgs and I guarantee you will be a hardcore jrpg fanboy. The gameplay the story the characters the artwork are what make jrpgs the top-of-the-line genre

Pretty much agreed. I was on a Game store last week and chose this game over tales of vesperia and did not regret it. I recommend playing blindly on first playthrough
Actually the 504p is a lie. The game never gets to 504p in docked mode, developers has called out DF spreading false information several times.
With that said the game is a masterpiece, easily amongst the very best Switch games, up there with games like: Zelda botw, Mario Odyssey, Smash, Fire Emblem, Luigi's Mansion 3, DQ11S, Astral Chain, etc.
Also it looks amazing, probably the best looking Xeno game to date.

Should I get this game? I really wanted it but some guy reviewed it and spoiled what happened with that girl earlier in the story. I got so mad I never bothered to finish the original version. I always wanted to beat this game but that spoiler ruined it for me, should I get this game anyways?

I wonder if once people get the Switch 2, which should be powerful enough to run games like this with no need for dynamic resolution, if they will have better opinions at that point?
I personally hated part 1 mostly because before 2 they didn't have the option to shut up the chatty cathy party. Like every 5 seconds they would have these long winded conversations, even in Japanese I was ultra annoyed lol. I may give this one a shot if they brought back the option to mute or lower battle voice volume. Also at the time I was really salty about being killed by a level 90+ monster when I was fighting a level 18 monster. I may be able to handle it now that I expect it.
I prefer XC1 over XC2. I started to play XC2 3 times now and i never finished it. I always got bored midway through. XC1 though... a whole different level. I'm addicted and now i'm nearing the end of the game
First XC game for me was 2 and I seriously can’t stand it I’m 40 hours in and only on chapter 4 and I just quit. Almost ruined the series for me until I got XC1 and now I see how it’s a masterpiece
XC2 like XC1 gets better and better as you get into it. So far I still prefer XC2 but to each their own. Give it a shot someday though... its great
Yeah the resolution is certainly questionable, but it's obvious that people who complain about it haven't played the original game on the Wii or DS.

I still think that for this classic arts pallette, Xenoblade Chronicles X has the best combat system. Overall, Torna has the best combat system, but 2 has my favorite.
In terms of story, its too subjective to have a solid answer. I really enjoyed 2's story though. While I think XBC1 has the best well rounded story that would appeal to most people as "good". I can't agree saying that this is the best of the series. I still have to give that to 2. That world, that story, those characters are just so amazing to me. But its all subjective. As long as we all admit that each game is amazing in its own right, we can't be wrong.

The main problem with XC2 is with the main characters. Rex, Pyra, and Mythra are just terrible. That’s why I can’t take XC2’s story too seriously, especially with how it overuses anime tropes to a ridiculous degree.

Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition I cannot stop Playing lol, I am loving the Quality of Life improvements, the Graphics are so much better, cleaner n clearer, the Resolution is piss poor we all know that but the Art Style and the enjoyment n fun of the game heavily out weighs the Resolution problems etc.
I've done exactly the same as I did with XBC2 and Playing Docked when I can and when I can't, I am Playing in Portable Mode and I've had no problems in Portable Mode, too me it looks n runs fine.

Loving the game so far, but I don't think there's a way I'll like it more than XBC2.. but XBC2 was also my first into into the series so I could be biased. Either way, love the franchise!
I like this conversion a lot. All I wanted was an HD port of the Wii game, but they did a lot more. Also, by reading dev interviews, it seems they did this project on a very tight schedule and limited resources. Otherwise, they would have gone all out. But that is reserved for the new projects I suppose. This was like a quick thing they wanted to do. All in all, I am happy it actually exits, this needed the HD treatment as it was the only one stuck in SD. I hope thy bring Xenoblade X next. They should just make a straight-up port visually and implement the UI to a single screen. After all, XC1 and XC2 are 720p and X already is too. In other topic, surveying players on different groups I am at, most of the response has been very positive on the game. there are always a couple of whiners complaining how the game does not play like XC2 or that the combat is to hard to understand or whatever. But most people have enjoyed it, even first-time players. The future looks bright for the series and studio.
Wanting to play this so bad because I never really got to play much of it, but loved two.
Just finished Trails from Zero though, so I have to at least play Azure and the last chapter of Cold Steel 2 before driving in. My copy is ready and waiting though!
This my first experience with xenoblade. Only at chapter 5 been taking my time as spoilers don't really happen for remasters Luckily lol. But got to say I love it so far love the combat feels like ff12 but more involved, I love the world its interesting the hell out of me. All the characters iv met are good too and the accents sound more English in the normal dialogue. I think its just the word monado that makes shulk sound Australian. The music as well is all amazing, All in all tho the game is so good I ordered xenoblade 2 lol
How I've always seen it Xenoblade Chronicles X has the highest highs, but the original xenoblade was more consistently high... if that makes sense
I prefer X since that was my first game. I am more of a grindy person. I did like 2 and from what I have seen from the 3DS version after 40 hours, yeah this game is cool.
I honestly wasn't expecting much out of this release as I never played the original (cause I hated the Wii and barely played anything on it) but mannnn, was I surprised. I am straight addicted to this game. I am like 30 hours in and keep coming right back to it. Great release.
I Still LOVE XENOBLADE CHRONICLES 2 it has great story and the gameplay is the best way better that XENOBLADE CHRONICLES definitive Edition so I have both but 2 is my favorite REX AND PYRA is the BEST and it has better BLADES I love all the BLADES CHARACTERS
I play Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition in handheld on my Switch and the graphics look just fine. Crybabies need to quit crying. No one cares.
I'm playing Definitive Edition now and I'm not sure which of three is my favorite. I like things about each of them over the other. Chracter wise X2 is easily the best looking. But if someone twisted my arm right now I 'd say Torna Maybe?. Also for people that find the combat in this confusing then X2 will take you awhile to get, But when you do get it? Its amazing . This combt in the Definitive I find the easiest to grasp in the series so far.
Im trying so hard to love it, but I just dont click with the combat, but the story is really good though. Also as a completionist there are too many side quests (that arent compelling) imo. Should have fewer but more impactful sidequests.
My favorite chain attack right now it Slit Edge, Gale Slash, Bite Bite, Back Slash, worldly Slash, Say Sorry, Mondo Buster, Blossom Dance = massive damage!
Interesting you mentioned the button mapping. Nintendo should have updated defaulted. The original maping has the same function for the remap on the switch, but only worked for the wii. On one hand you had the num chuck stick and the other you had the dpad. So in a sense, combat was the same with the remap.
80 hrs in on colony 9 lvl 47 & I just lost Fiora now from the mechon invasion. Now it's just Reyn & Shulk but before I leave colony 9 there is just a few side quests left & community 3 start so far. The game is addictive big time.

@The Ostrich No Bs it's real. I did this on the Wii ver. I already farmed for the strongest gear on colony 9 like climb, League, jail & Brandle full sets head to legs that have slots. The only gear that I can not get is the Brandle armor with slots. I only have the one with no slots.
I farmed 7 full sets for my party & I have top weapons for all characters that would carry through a lot of the games story.
@@neonblackbeast7243 What I did was making sure when a sliver chest or gold chest dropped I would save my game before opening it. That way I can keep trying to get the gears that are better with slots. I already can beat shadless Matrix without any problems.
The only thing I can not do yet is the lvl 70 monsters because Monolithsoft knew that if they let monsters in colony 9 lvl 50 to 60 then they are filling in the lvl gap for a player to grind to lvl 70. So that is why you don't see any lvl 50 to 60 monsters in colony 9. They put a gap so no one could get to lvl 70 at the start.
I did this same step on XB2 torna DLC. At the start of new game I got to lvl 55 before I boarded the airship.
I like how even your noise cancellation pads have style. And orange too. My fave color, dude. Sub. Also, like this video of course.
I like the game but the boss fight moments are dumb sometimes. The monado future thing pops up every minute and when I move out of the way from a attack it still locks on to me.

Awesome video OJ. This is my first Xenoblade game and I'm about 15 hours in at chapter 6. I'm really enjoying the combat and music. Such a great game.
