This series is so inspirational! Thank you to Von and the other guests who let us get a glimpse at the kind of work we would LOVE to be doing!
this has got to be the only video posted by make that i really like. post more like this.
I'm just glad this guy exists.
Coming from a making industry: Architecture...l see a parallel path...in the movies making processes. It takes a lot of convincing to get the financers to believe to the Vision one has. Given the scale differences...we often depend on the architectural models to try to persuade the investors and clients to buy into our ideas. This process of model making is very difficult but forfilling...especially when the kids seems to share one's interest: their hotwheels fit perfectly in that make believe world. This craft really does draw everyone into the possiblity of making it 'Real'.
Your work has inspired me personally as l remained amazed at the effects you and your team are able to achieve. Sincere thanks.
Retired Architect.
I love that he called the 30ft ship from the Matrix a "miniature".
Watching what goes into movies behind the scenes like props or costuming, has always fascinated me. Can't wait to see more videos like this! :)
Really refreshing philosophy on quality of work and transmitting ones knowledge to help inspire others. Bravo!
These people have the best job, in my insignificant little opinion.
I envy them so much.
Is that Grant Imahara from MythBusters @2:30
Fantastic interview. Many thanks.
Inspiring. Looking forward to more features like this one.
Wow! Your job is sooo cool.
this was a cool video as a model/diorama miniature builder passing along what i have learned from trial an error is great fun .an i think that's a ethos in the maker community pass on what you have learned to others in the hopes that they will build on it an improve it as well im getting ready to build 3 dioramas for 2 different local museums for free . so its great that i can use what i have learned an put those skills to work on something that people will like
Impressive work that you and your team does! Bravo!
Freaky Talent. Stuff is amazing
Amazing work
cool job...and, whoa, it took me like 3minutes to figure out how to add this vid. to my playlist. Everything changed overnight! Why does UA-cam just spring updates on us? Or is there some place where they post a warning/tutorial?
Any chance on getting a tutorial on how to light (not wiring a model with lights, but lighting a model like you would light a human being) and shoot a model effect?
Oh man! Grant Imahara!
go to his site and follow the Store Link

If workstation-weary CGI drones could simply spend one glorious day in Fon's amazing workshop, they might well never play with their pixels again!

I prefer miniatures in movies over the CGI all the time.

well uh….yeah i guess thats true
This sharing and not greed is what makes money and prosperity! People who hide behind patents are not thinking about the future just there pockets! So sad patents should all be destroyed and let people add to others inventions.

So who actually coined the term "Bigatures"? According to this guy, it was The Matrix guys. But according to the Lord of the Rings behind the scenes, it was them who came up with the word.
who cares
Well, I heard the term "Bigatures" before Lord of the Rings came out so probably it was the Matrix guys.
Johnny W. Wilson lord of the rings was in production looong before the matrix came out.
